“It takes years to become an overnight success”, a famous quote that perfectly captures the essence of every person who made it big in life.

Success has never been a destination, but a journey and only those who have undergone this journey know just how much goes into it. Like Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra whose name may have gone down in history for that one moment at the Olympics where he threw his best javelin in  his career, but actually spent years getting to that very point.
On the occasion of India's 75th Independence Day, our first Olympic gold medal winner in athletics, Neeraj Chopra took a moment to share what has come across as the ultimate transformation from a contender to a champion.

The picture that Chopra has shared on his social media account is a collage with one picture dating back to 2019 when the athlete suffered from an elbow injury and can be seen on a hospital bed. Whereas the other picture is a still of him holding the gold medal he won at the Olympics. And his journey from then to now, has been but motivational.
Crediting his coach and medical team, he chose the perfect day and occasion to give a shout out to the entire medical staff whose contribution made him what he is today.

He wrote, “From May 2019 to today; from an elbow brace to a medal in my hand--it has been quite the journey! I am grateful for Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala’s medical support and my team (coach @bartonietz and physio @ishaanphysio ) who have been by my side throughout the past 2 years. I hope this medal can inspire all those who are facing tough times in their lives to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Happy #IndependenceDay, Jai Hind!"

Neeraj Chopra won the Gold medal at Olympics with a record throw of 87.58 meters. It is his struggle and the fact that he could rise up from once having an elbow injury to now winning at a global level, which are something we all need to take away from.
Despite having suffered a severe elbow injury in May 2019, Neeraj Chopra made history at the Tokyo Olympics. It took him 16 months of rehabilitation to find his way.

Let the man with the 'golden arm’ be your inspiration if you are going through a tough time. #motivation pic.twitter.com/P6k4oHho8j

This Olympic gold today is nothing but a result of his dedication and the never give up Indian Army spirit! pic.twitter.com/Xa6hYUYFtZ

When people commit themselves to a relationship, for a moment, the world offers an opportunity to feel rosier than it ever did. Sweeter perhaps. A familiar feeling for some men.
Sometimes, though, the cracks start appearing almost immediately. Disrespectful language, boundaries being crossed, gaslighting, and whatnot.
All these things end up making that once dreamy possibility a cesspool of toxicity.
Despite a wildly different reality, some men are unable to leave that relationship. Regardless of how toxic and unhealthy it might become.
We reached out to some men who shared with us their reasons for staying on in a relationship that’s long past its expiry date:
    1. “We barely talk much anymore. So in a way, it’s nice, you know? I’ve my space and she gets hers, so it all works out in the end. Anyway, we had begun fighting a lot. So, it’s comfortable like this.” - Debjoy, 25

    2. “Bro, I don’t know what to say. Sometimes, I know how messed up it is, but I’m just so scared of being alone. It’s either this or going back to the dating pool, and you know what a mess it’s become. This is definitely better than that.” - Ayush, 30

    3. “I’m scared because my girlfriend threatened to leak my nudes.” - Minal, 28

    4. “It started when she was angry at something I did. I think I may have dropped a plate on the floor or something galti se... I was going to clean it only when she slapped me. I was stunned. Now, whenever she’s in a rotten mood she’s started kicking or punching me. For crying out loud I’m human too. Even though it gets crazy I can’t leave her, what are people gonna say? Divorce?... No way.” - Piyush, 29

    5. “I get hungry often, man. Especially lately. I used to be fitter when Rohit and I met. I may not be the fittest I once was but I’m not a mess either, even by my standards. So, it hurts when he keeps pointing it out to me. Once in a while chalta hai, but after a point, I also start feeling bad, no?” - Eric, 36

    6. “You don’t know where she comes from bro. Life wasn’t fair to her, she’s figuring her life out abhi. Yeah, it does make me uncomfortable and then I stop talking to her for a while, for a month or so, when she sleeps with other people. But it’s worth it in the long run I feel. She’s lovely otherwise bro. Long distance badiya chal raha hai.” - Rohan , 24

    7. “Who’s to say kya chalta hai? I also messed up so many times. I hooked up with someone, but I didn’t know she was serious about me back then. Baad me pata chala mujhe ki we were supposed to be exclusive, that we were allegedly together back then. So, now, I feel that I’ve to fix this relationship before I can do anything else.” - Madhav, 25

    8. “My girlfriend lights up my world. She’s the person who dragged me out of the pits of depression, but lately, she’s been keeping tabs on everything that I do. I'm okay with that to a certain extent, but sometimes, it gets too much, you know? She’s become strangely suspicious of things that make me happy. Gaming with the boys, talking to my work friends, she gets irritated by everything. I don’t know what’s happened to her but she’s started making me feel bad for being happy. It’s as if she’s pissed off whenever I smile because of someone else. I tried talking to her but she accused me of being a diva about it? It’s been a few months of this. It really irritates me, but I can’t leave her since she was there for me when no one else was and I owe it to her.” - Rajat, 32

Men. I guess it’s just difficult for them sometimes.

As India celebrates its 75th Independence Day, the entire country finds itself floating in feelings of patriotism and pride.
There is a certain sense of pride towards martyrdom in the air as people think back to all those times when our brave soldiers sacrificed their lives to keep our tri-coloured flag always flying high. And one such martyr who etched his name in history and in our hearts was Captain Vikram Batra.
The man who fought valiantly during the Kargil war in 1999 and led one of the most dangerous and crucial operations in mountain warfare, Captain Vikram Batra and his achievements are to date remembered and lauded with great fondness. Especially by his parents who aren’t just proud of their son, but also miss him dearly.

First played by actor Abhishek Bachchan in the movie LOC Kargil, the role has been played again by Siddharth Malhotra in the film Shershaah, which is supposed to be a biopic on the life of the decorated Indian Army officer.

In the movie, the scene where Captain Vikram Batra’s courageous rendezvous with the enemy at the border was shown has left everyone emotional, but most of all his parents.
In fact, in a recent interview where GL Batra, Captain Vikram Batra’s father, was asked about what he felt having seen the film Shershaah, he shared the emotions that their family felt throughout the movie.
Paid my respects to Captain Vikram Batra & all other Fauji heroes in Delhi

Truly had an emotional moment there! Standing in front of his statue, remembering his sacrifice & of 527 other war martyrs...

Recalling the scene where Captain Batra gets shot, GL Batra shared, “A Pakistani soldier in hiding targets him and some three to four bullets hit him in the chest. He then falls down and bleeds from the mouth when he chants his unit's war cry 'Hail Mother Durga' (Durga mata ki jai). He then falls down and becomes a martyr. It was a very emotional moment for us."
Captain Batra’s mother Kamal Kanta Batra also spoke about the influx of emotions that she felt during the scene and said, “I got very emotional when he was suddenly hit by a bullet in the film."

Meanwhile, Vishal Batra, Captain Batra’s twin brother also talked about the kind of impact that scene had on him, for it was followed by a moment of silence to deal with the emotional havoc he had kept in all this while.

The movie has said to beautifully and boldly capture the essence of patriotism and sheer valour that Captain Batra exuded at the border.
In fact, during an interview with actor Siddharth Malhotra who feels honoured to play his part, went ahead to share that if he had not been an actor, he would have chosen to be in the Indian Army just like his grandfather who served the nation and fought in the India-China war in 1962.
