Shilpa Shetty was on a hiatus ever since the news of Raj Kundra's arrest for alleged connection with a pornography racket came into the limelight. Kundra has been accused of sending adult content via apps and is in judicial custody at the moment.

Shilpa's movie Hungama 2 was also recently released. However, the film too was not well-received. She was also on a social media break and hadn't posted anything for a while.

Recently though, Shilpa took to Instagram on the occasion of Independence Day. The post included the tricolour flag, with the chakra rotating. She captioned the graphic, "Wishing all my fellow Indians around the world a very Happy Independence Day. #HappyIndependenceDay #74YearsOfIndependence #75thIndependenceDay #SwatantrataDiwas #JaiHind.”

The actress has finally been able to make her first public appearance after Raj Kundra's case. She was a part of the Covid-19 fundraiser, named We For India, on Independence Day. In the video, Shilpa can be seen showing breathing exercises.

    View this post on Instagram
She is heard saying, "Hum aise Waqt mein jee rahe hai jahaan pe breathing ya saans lene par sab Kuch nirbhar hai. Breathing hi hai jiske zariye hum humare poore system ko protect kar sakte hai. Agar aapka nasal passage cleanse ho jaata hai to aapke brain cells tak oxygen achchi tarah se pooch payega our aapki immunity better ho jayegi."
When translated in English, it means, "Everything is dependent on the way we breathe. With breathing, we are trying to protect our whole system. If our nasal passage is cleansed, oxygen can reach the brain cells properly, and immunity gets better"
    © Instagram/Shilpa Shetty
In the video, she also talks about the benefits of doing yoga. She said, "Mushkil Waqt mein negative thoughts ka aana swabhavik hai. Lekin uspe control key liye prana par Ayam hona bohot zaroori hai. That is why positive rehne ke liye apni breathing ko Sahi Karne ke liye, Aaj ke time mein pranayam Pehle se bhi zyada zaroori ho Gaya hai."

"During bad times, negative thoughts are bound to come. But to control that, one needs to do Pranayam. So it has become an integral part to stay positive and improve breathing."
    © Instagram/Shilpa Shetty
She also talks about taking preventive measures amid covid-19. "I hope that these pranayamas will help you in your daily life and in your immunity and health,” said Shilpa.

The actress hasn't given her statement yet on Raj Kundra's case. But she took to social media and said, "There have been a lot of rumours and accusations. A lot of unwarranted aspersions on me cast by the media and (not so) well-wishers as well. A lot of trolling/questions posed…. not only to me but also to my family.”
She also appealed to everyone to let everything take its own time. She added, "We don’t deserve a media trial.” Shilpa also said she has not commented yet and will not do so as it is subjudice. She urged the media to stop giving false quotes on her behalf.

Every public appearance that Ranveer Singh makes, it still takes us by surprise. While he has portrayed some intense characters on screen, IRL too, he has successfully shown off his vibrant personality with his sartorial game. This man has left no stone unturned in laying his hands on a variety of silhouettes. In fact, the man carries a woman's purse too with utmost panache. He has also worn heeled shoes and amazed us with his outstanding choices that no one in the industry has remotely come close to.

    © Viral Bhayani
While we still stand by his crazy fashion choices, this time, when he was seen at Mumbai airport with his lady love Deepika Padukone, he was papped in a rather laid-back ensemble. We hardly catch a glimpse of him wearing something so simple. But, despite that, our attention went to his pants and the sneakers he wore.
    Check out the details here.
    © Farfetch
Let's start with Ranveer's T-shirt. To a non-specialist, this casual wear looks like a basic style. But, it's not, and it certainly doesn't fit right with our wallets. Ranveer is wearing Burberry's cotton T-shirt with the TB logo, an ode to the label's founder. This T-shirt is worth almost Rs 50,000. Yes, that expensive.

    © Dior
Coming to his sneakers, on the other hand, Ranveer is seen in Dior's B23 High Top Sneaker in White Black Dior Oblique Canvas. These shoes have a round toe with a black tab reminiscent of the classic high-top style. There's also transparent paneling which has a plastic-like appeal to it. It has been done over Dior's signature trend on the side.

    © Dior
The price, you ask? These shoes are worth roughly $1,150 or Rs 83,840 on Dior's official website. These sneakers are comparatively cheaper than all the pairs we have seen Ranveer don.
    © Viral Bhayani
We also like the way he has accessorised the look with the DSquared cap and black sunglasses.

    © Viral Bhayani
The pants, though, are striking, firstly because of the silhouette, and secondly, as they are highly distressed. Ranveer hardly steps out in something as basic as jeans, but he never fails to experiment when he does. This seems like a classic combination to us, and we don't mind seeing Ranveer in more such outfits. Holes or not, we are all set to cop this style!

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for his films like Devdas, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat. He has now collaborated with Netflix for his pre-Independence set series Heeramandi.

The story is set to explore the hidden cultural reality of courtesans in Heeramandi which was a dazzling district in Lahore, in pre-Independent India.
Recently, according to a report, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was planning to cast Rekha for a key part in the series but now he has dropped the idea. And as per a report by Bollywood Hungama, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is now considering Aishwarya Rai for the role.
    View this post on Instagram
According to Bollywood Hungama, a source said, “It is believed Rekha has become difficult to direct over the years. Bhansali’s enthusiasm to sign Rekha was considerably dampened by her treatment of director Abhishek Kapoor during the making of Fitoor when Rekha had to be dropped overnight and replaced by Tabu. Rather than face such problems, Sanjay has dropped the idea of casting Rekha and may opt for Aishwarya instead.”
The series is about love, betrayal, succession, and politics that goes around in the ‘Kothas’ and the series will have opulent and larger-than-life sets, a lot of characters, and great music.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali also said that Heermandi is an important milestone in the filmmaker’s journey.
View this post on InstagramEarlier, Alia Bhatt had said she was so excited about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming project that she expressed her desire to work on the project for free.
She said, “Give me a role, any role, in Heera Mandi and I will do it for free,” these were her apparent words to the filmmaker on the recent development of the series.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali made his directorial debut with Khamoshi: The Musical in 1996 and now he has completed 25 long years in the industry.

Just like life, relationships are also often tricky to navigate your way through. Considering how every relationship is different from another, I have always felt that when it comes to dating and being in love, it is never 'one size fits all.'
While most of us draw inferences and inspirations from either our parents’ marriage over the years (credit: easy access) or from Bollywood movies that seldom ever give realistic advice, it is quite possible that we may have had our perceptions about relationships altered, based on what we have been fed.
    © iStock
And so that you don’t find yourself latching on to the words of an OTT romantic/problematic character from a Bollywood film and running your relationship down to the dumps, here are a few myths about dating that we’d like to debunk for you.

    1) Don’t Talk About Your Ex © iStock
A lot of times new couples are told how talking about your ex to your current partner is nothing but a recipe for disaster. My two cents? That advice is what will stir a storm in your relationship and not in your ex's.

The thing is, to an extent, it is important and healthy to talk about your ex and come clean about what and how things went down. It offers insight and closure to your partner about your life and choices and it is best to get it out of the way sooner or later. Not to forget, it is only human to talk about your ex (someone who played a significant role in your life, even though for a little bit) and if you can achieve a level of comfort with your partner to do that, there is nothing like it.
    2) Happy Couples Don’t Fight © Shri Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Limited
Take it from me or your parents or from literally ANYONE in a relationship, but couples always fight. They might not fight all the time, but arguments are as important a part of a relationship as is making love.

Fights are what make your relationship stronger because it is not possible for the two of you to see eye to eye on everything, and the fact that you are willing to put your ideas forth, even if conflicting, only proves how withstanding your bond is.
    3) Opposites Attract © Eros International
One of the most falsely advertised claims when it comes to love, guys let me break it to you - opposites don’t have to attract. We are people with real emotions and not magnets that can be told apart based on our magnetic fields. And for that very reason the whole - ‘good girl likes bad boys’ theory needs to be put to rest.

Anyone can fall for anyone and in my experience, it always bodes well to have some common ground between two partners to build upon.
    4) Being In Love Means Knowing What Your Partner Wants © Excel Entertainment
I would go ahead and accept this particular notion only to a certain extent, wherein being in a loving and committed relationship would mean you know your partner well enough. But to think that your partner needs to know exactly what is going on in your mind all the time, is being a little presumptuous and unrealistic.

In fact, what we instead need to normalise is communication. It is okay to tell your beau what you do and do not like without having to take it personally or assuming that it would take away from your relationship. It’s okay to educate your partner every now and then, it helps in the long run.
    5) People Don’t Change © Excel Entertainment
I can tell you from personal experience that they do. But you know, the thing about ‘change’ is that you can never be the one to direct it in your partner. As long as you’re the one trying to change your beau, chances are, they won’t.

Change requires will and constant effort and only when a person is convinced to do that, without feeling pressured, would that change be certain to come along, and most of all - stay.

As the Taliban forces infiltrate the city of Kabul and declare control over the country of Afghanistan, the world is looking in horror at the demolishment of the country that is currently leaving and driving people away from their own homeland. This happened right after US troops declared they were leaving and Taliban fighters marched in. The President has also fled the country after surrendering. Videos and pictures of people desperately trying to flee the country are going viral on the internet and they are heartbreaking.

Air India flight has already brought in over 129 passengers from Kabul to Delhi. A lot of European countries and America are undertaking evacuation processes for their diplomats to leave the country safely. The war might have been declared by the Taliban and the US, but the human cry for help right now is louder than any bombing in the world. Here’s praying for the safety of people living there.

China’s technology giant Huawei has been accused of spying on Pakistani nationals and of accessing the country’s national security data according to a media report. The report says that Huawei has been using a US-based software company called the ‘Business Efficiency Solutions LLC’ according to the Wall Street Journal.
    © Reuters
Business Efficiency Solutions (BES) apparently made software that has the ability to collect sensitive data for the use of the Pakistani government. However, after the completion of the software, Huawei asked the company to send sensitive information to its lab in China for a trial run according to the report.

The software company says that neither Huawei nor Beijing has returned the sensitive information and the software tools that gave them backdoor access to Pakistan’s national security data, The Wall Street Journal added.
BES has said in a lawsuit that Huawei’s back door was located in a database that consisted of sensitive information including national ID card records, foreigner registrations, tax records and criminal records. “Huawei-China uses the proprietary DES (Data Exchange System) system as a back door from China into Lahore to gain access, manipulate, and extract sensitive data important to Pakistan’s national security,” the BES lawsuit alleges, according to WSJ.
The US-based company also said that after it installed the DES in Lahore, Huawei demanded in 2017 that the company install a duplicate DES in Suzhou, China. The company said in the lawsuit that it asked Huawei to obtain approval from Pakistani authorities before building the DES system in Suzhou.

This is not the first time Huawei has been accused of collecting sensitive data which led to the company being banned from trading and functioning in various parts of the world. The company can no longer license software and hardware from US-based companies such as Google and ARM for its smartphones and other devices.

Huawei is also banned from setting up 5G network infrastructure in the US, UK and other countries due to national security reasons. The company was also excluded from conducting 5G trials in India. Last week, China hacked multiple public and private sector groups in Israel in an attempt to gain business interests as well.

A Huawei spokesperson told the WSJ, “Huawei respects the intellectual property of others, and there is no evidence Huawei ever implanted any back door in our products.”

As expected, the India and England Test series is already getting a bit salty when it comes to dealing with complicated situations with a cool head and the final moments of Day 4 of the second Test at Lord’s was one of the more prominent examples of it.
After 82 overs in the second innings for the Indian cricket team, the touring side were at 181/6 with a 154-run lead and Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma on strike and were eight overs short of the daily quota at 90.

However, skipper Virat Kohli and opening batsman Rohit Sharma had other plans and wanted to pause the game for the day blaming bad light in London. So the two giants, who were sitting in the iconic Lord’s balcony, began to make gestures towards the pitch, calling their batsmen on the ground to come back early.
Additionally, the bowling side also were also entitled to use a new ball which would have brought back the pace and spin challenge for lower-middle order of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

As a result, the captain of the opposing side, Joe Root was seen being visibly upset with Pant being the one to bear the brunt and try to defuse the situation in the best possible way he could - with a smile.
The fans who were present in the stadium were also upset with the Indian captain and felt that he pressured the on-field officials into ending the day sooner than they should have for a reason which wasn’t strong enough.
    View this post on Instagram
Surprisingly, the balcony fiasco wasn’t the only eyebrow-raising event of the day. First it was the verbal battle between Kohli and James Anderson on the non-striker’s end which got the viewers all riled up.
Then came the moment of potential ball tampering in which the cameraman caught two of the English fielders stepping on the match ball with their spiked shoes, thereby risking the original condition of it, even if it wasn’t intentional.

The incident was brought to the fore by former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, in his typical sarcastic manner but later, English pacer Stuart Broad also began to speak publicly, sticking by his teammates’ side and calling it just a common mistake.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, mother of two sons, Jeh Ali Khan and Taimur Ali Khan, recently said in an interview that she doesn’t want her kids to be movie stars.
In an interview with HT, she said, “He is barely six months old, but Jeh looks exactly like me and Tim looks like Saif [Ali Khan]. I was even shooting a romantic number with Aamir Khan for Lal Singh when I was 5 months into my pregnancy with Jeh!”
She further elaborated saying, “I want both my sons to be thorough gentlemen, I want people to say they are well-brought-up, kind-hearted and I will think my job is well done. I don’t want them to be movie stars. I’ll be happy if Tim comes and tells me I want to do something else… climb Mount Everest may be… that’s his choice. I want to stand by and support my boys.”

Kareena also said that she doesn’t want to be an over-involved mother in her kids' life.
She said, “I don’t want to be like a helicopter mom. I want them to fall and learn because that’s the way my mother taught me. My mother was like, do what you want, make your mistakes and then learn to repair them because that’s the way it works. So that’s the way I am parenting both the boys. Jeh, of course, is small, but Tim is now much more aware. I am like if he does something wrong, you clear up your mess. That’s the only way they learn.”

In her new book, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible, the actress has also addressed *** during pregnancy.
    View this post on Instagram
She said, “It’s possible that a woman doesn’t feel the need for ***, does not feel the urge, or doesn’t even feel that she likes herself at that point of time during pregnancy. This is what women go through before childbirth. People are not used to seeing mainstream actors talking about these things. But then, they are not used to seeing mainstream actors pregnant either.”

20 years after it was thwarted from presuming control of Afghanistan, Taliban has finally seized control of Kabul, Afghanistan. As the world stands shocked by the heartbreaking news coming out of Afghanistan, people from around the globe have expressed their support and solidarity with the people of the country.
Several Indian celebrities have expressed their condolences and disbelief at the events unfolding, Swara Bhaskar being one of them. The Raanjhanaa actor is renowned for her outspoken activism, and she’s no stranger to being trolled. Her ponderous thoughts often land her in troublesome situations.
    View this post on Instagram
During Veere Di Wedding’s promotions, Swara came under fire by the troll brigade for having criticized Pakistan as a failed state, despite her own 2015 comments contradicting her. She was targeted by people on both sides of the border.
She had also courted controversy, for her criticism of veteran actor Paresh Rawal’s distasteful tweets on author Arundhati Roy, where he had suggested the decorated author should suffer a fate similar to those of stone pelters in Kashmir. Her defense of Arundhati Roy had her being cited as anti-nationalist by trolls.
    View this post on Instagram
Her numerous verbal duels with Kangana Ranaut on Twitter are well documented. The two firebrands wear their hearts on their sleeves, resulting in sharp words being exchanged. Their virtual face-off during the whole nepotism saga established them as popular voices on the internet.
This time however, the talented actress was once again the recipient of the internet’s ire when she retweeted Lotfullah Najafizada’s original tweet in support of the people of Afghanistan. Her ominously worded tweet “It Begins Again” attracted the trolls to her account, yet again. Like moths to a flame.
How is this talibanization? I mean, I am sure the commodification of women's bodies by capitalist and consumerist industries should bother us all. Not surprising though, coming from an Indian who are conditioned by Bollywood's objectification of women.

The 12th season of the singing reality show, Indian Idol, was like none other. It embroiled more controversies than any other season (or even Bigg Boss) and left fans disappointed and irked multiple times. The 12-hour grand finale was no different.

Uttarakhand’s Pawandeep Rajan was announced the winner, while Arunita Kanjilal and Sayli Kamble were declared runners-up. Rajan bagged the trophy along with a swanky new car and a cheque of Rs. 25 lakh. However, he said he didn’t feel great after winning.

    © Twitter/Indian Idol 12
In a media interview after his big win, he said, “I did not think much during the final moments. There was only one thing in my mind that whoever wins the show, the trophy will come to one of the friends. Because we all are one big family. In fact, when I got the trophy I was not feeling very great because all of us were deserving.”

While his fans were elated, many opposed the decision. They weren’t satisfied with the results and felt Arunita Kanjilal and Sayli Kamble were more deserving candidates for the trophy. Some even suggested that Arunita Kanjilal and Pawandeep Rajan should have been declared joint winners because they were both equally deserving.

Here is how the audience reacted to Pawandeep Rajan’s win.

    Congratulations #PawandeepRajan for becoming #IndianIdol2021 ..

But still I believe #Arunitakanjilal_official was also deserving contestant.

Apart from this, there were discussions about popular singers competing in the show. Pawandeep Rajan has also been the winner of another singing reality show, The Voice India back in 2015 which had Himesh Reshammiya as one of the judges. However, Reshammiya denied ever knowing Rajan before Indian Idol, which was strange.

As far as the Italian luxury goes, John has included a Lamborghini Gallardo in his collection. This was the company's best selling car, and the ex-showroom price comes to almost Rs 3 crore. However, since it's an old model. Hence, one can't get their hands on this car anymore.

Comedian Vir Das recently offended the transgender community and was criticized for his joke that made fun of gender pronouns and spoke inappropriately about transgender persons. In the fifth episode of his #TenonTen series, he spoke about it and received heavy backlash.
In the episode, he said, “I am not because Transpeople have the courage to discard an organ if it isn't working properly. For them... or a man who used to be a woman and the kid is like... it just means that your kids will have a longer chapter in school when they learn pronouns.”
He did accept his mistake and owned up to the fact that he completely messed it up.
In the statement issued online, he thanked a person from the queer community for ‘calling him in’, and wrote, “I did a joke on the new ten on ten-episode that my friends in the Trans community felt hurt by. I see why. My intent at the moment was to say Trans people have the courage the Govt never ever could and it was set up wrong and uninformed.”
“I messed up. It had the opposite effect and trivialized your struggle. Articulating my intent effectively is my responsibility, not yours. I got that joke wrong. Plain and simple. No buts,” he added.

“Sometimes (a lot) people are upset because the joke really worked, sometimes because the joke doesn’t. My audience understands comedy, they can take a joke. So, when they talk to me, I listen. I’d like to be an artist who unabashedly deliberately uncomfortably pushes the line every single day, and never stops acknowledging his audience, always using their voice as his guide. A conversation, where the focus is on them, always,” he stated.
“Amaan, thank you for your message. Know that I see you, I heard you, your struggle. I’m in this conversation, I’ll always listen and you will always inform my comedy,” he wrote.
He then posted a screenshot of the message Amaan had sent to him. He had written, “Hey Vir. I’ve been a big fan of your comedy and your work (Excluding Mastizade lmao) for a long time now. I’m a queer individual who identifies as non-binary. I see your reaction to the calling out of your mistakes and I feel like someone has to call you in, instead.”
They added, “When you feel like you’re being attacked, it’s very easy to get defensive. And reactionary. You of all people know punching up is how comedy works, and yet you chose to punch down, if only as a setup. I hope you understand. – A slightly hurt fan, Amaan.”

Vir also shared the screenshot of his response to Amaan that read, “Amaan I hope it's alright that I am replying to you. You’re correct about the joke, and I’m so sorry it made you feel hurt. I am going to put a statement out, but waiting till everyone calms down so they know it's thought out and genuine. If you know my work, you know the intent is never ever to hurt. Give it a minute and I will definitely respond.”
People have appreciated his gesture and lauded him for his courage.

We live in the 21st century where people should be more inclusive of people's individualities and their sexuality too. Though we are far from where we want to be in this regard, it's heartening to see state governments taking initiatives to give transgenders some recognition and it would go a long way if we comedians and artists encouraged the same.

Nonetheless, what do you have to say about the entire fiasco? Let us know in the comments section below.
