After a rather slow and staggering start on Day 1, the second Test between India and England at Lord’s turned out to be way uglier than many had expected. However, according to the β€˜Player of the Match’ KL Rahul, it was the squad’s β€˜one for all and all for one’ mentality that kept his side afloat and dominant until the final delivery of Day 5 which got Team India a 1-0 lead.
While collecting his prestigious award at Lord’s center stage, the opening batsman who scored a stunning 129 runs in the first innings to give his side a glorious start, Rahul addressed how watching the England players targeting Indian cricketers one by one got them charged up and as a result they were successful in booking the win.

"That's what you expect with two competitive teams - great skills, and a few words as well. We don't mind some banter. You go after one of our guys and all 11 of us will come right back," Rahul said.
Talking about getting his name etched on the honour board at Lord’s for his mighty ton, Rahul said: "I've been looking at it every morning to see if they've put it on permanently. They haven't - it's still a temporary piece of paper.”

A lot of controversial pointers were raised in the past five days. There were speculations of ball-tampering by the England sideΒ when two of the fielders were caught on camera stepping on the ball with their spiked shoes. Champagne corks were tossed at the Indian athletesΒ while they were fielding at the boundary. Then the verbal argument between Virat Kohli and James Anderson, on more than one occasion led to the fans from each other’s side getting angry. The Englishmen even managed to rile up one of the coolest guys in the Indian roster, Jasprit Bumrah, who was seen butting heads with Jos Buttler in the final few moments of India’s second innings.

However, every single time any such banter took place, one thing remained a common factor, none of the Indian cricketers were ever alone. One or more teammates were always there to get their buddy’s back.
That’s the kind of β€˜Wolf Pack’ mentality that KL Rahul believes was the reason why the Men in Blue left the Lord’s cricket ground with the win and a 1-0 lead in the series.

The ongoing Test series between India and England is turning out to test the patience and calmness of even the most relaxed cricketers involved, including the ever-so-smiling Jasprit Bumrah as he was seen butting heads with rival wicket-keeper Jos Buttler on Day 5 of the Lord’s Test.
Following the 91st over of India’s second innings, an unexpected partnership between Bumrah and Mohammed Shami could be seen causing major reasons of worry for the English bowlers and the two tailenders went on to stitch an 89-run partnership before skipper Virat Kohli declared for 298.

At the end of the over delivered by Mark Wood, Bumrah and Buttler could be heard participating in a heated argument as the stump microphones picked up the Indian pacer yelling β€œI was not the one who was complaining to bowl slow, man.”
Once Bumrah’s partner, Shami also got involved in the exchange of words, the umpires had to step in and send the two sides back to their respective ends in order to quickly make the remainder of the day go by smoothly, albeit that’s not exactly how the rest of the session went.Β
It's all flaring up in the #LordsTest !!!

Bumrah and Shami giving it back to the English!

Eventually, it was Shami sharing a few words of β€œcompetition” with James Anderson later in the first session as well.
The commentators who were on the air during this incident also felt that England made a mistake getting into a war of words with Bumrah at such a point as it allowed him to become a lot more assertive.

At the end of the day, it was Jasprit Bumrah and the Indian cricket team that had the last laugh after stunning Joe Root’s batting order by dismissing both the openers on ducks, followed by wrapping up the middle order in a hurry.
But the time the final wicket (James Anderson) fell at the hands of Mohammed Siraj, in the 52nd over, the Men in Blue were sitting on a massive 151-run lead and enjoyed a convincing victory at arguably the most iconic ground there is in all of cricket.
