For almost two years now, people in the country and around the world have been confined to the four walls of their houses. As coronavirus caught us pants down, staying put in home as quarantine became the only solution to this problem at hand and it hasn’t been easy.
The definition of ‘normal’ changed from what we knew and the levels of frustration of every person stuck at home went beyond the roof.
Perhaps that is why, when things finally started opening up after the second wave, people took a nanosecond to flee their houses for mini getaways.
A move that is being called as desperate as it is careless.

You see, while we understand the emotion behind wanting to break free and travel, almost anywhere at this point, what we do not understand is how people can forget the intensity and gravity of the situation we are in.

Considering the millions of lives that people have lost at the hands of the virus, it is dangerous to flout the rules, but apparently, people aren’t scared anymore.
Last year, the mela at the famous Kumbh became the ground zero for the second wave, and this year, it seems like tourists spots like the hills and Haridwar will do the deed, as people flood the places without caring for the covid restrictions.

"We feel like we have come out of jail after 2 yrs. There is a huge crowd. We are not scared of COVID-19. We have come here before 3rd wave," says a tourist pic.twitter.com/o7nhZ84WdS

In fact, two women commented on the matter by saying, “We feel like we have come out of jail after 2 years. There is a huge crowd but we are not scared of Covid-19. We have come here before the third wave.”
While the government and the authorities in Haridwar tried to make people abide by the rules and regulations and practice social distancing, it was all pointless for people crowded spots like the Har-Ki-Pauri at the Ganga ghat, entered the water in large groups and cared little for masks or for sanitising.

A similar sight was seen earlier at the Kempty falls where people crowded the waterfall in large groups, breaking all the covid restrictions and perhaps running the great risk of carrying the virus.

Guess, some people just don’t learn.
We have come here before 3rd wave - a tourist.

MS Dhoni is one of the most successful players in the Indian Premier League history and his record, both as the leader and the batsman, makes him a contender for the all-time greatest player.

With 208 appearances, the Chennai Super Kings skipper is the most capped player in the history of the tournament and has scored 4,669 runs. When you take into consideration the position where he has batted for the major part of his career, it makes his figures look all the more astonishing.

For some fans, Dhoni is the greatest IPL player ever and they were surprised when Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav left him out of his all-time IPL XI.

To be fair to the MI cricketer, he was given two conditions and he had to pick a team fulfilling both of them. He was told he couldn’t leave himself out of the playing XI and was allowed to pick only four MI players.
Suryakumar Yadav’s All-Time IPL XI:Suryakumar Yadav picks his All-Time IPL X1 (in Cricbuzz):

    Jos Buttler (WK)
    Rohit Sharma
    Virat Kohli
    Suryakumar Yadav
    AB Devilliers
    Hardik Pandya
    Andre Russell
    Ravi Jadeja
    Rashid Khan
    Jasprit Bumrah
    Mohammed Shami

Two Rules: Need to pick himself and only 4 MI players allowed.

SKY’s decision to leave Dhoni out started a huge debate on social media between Virat Kohli and Thala supporters as they argued who deserved a place in the XI more -- someone who has won three titles or someone who is the tournament’s leading run-scorer.
Apart from Dhoni’s omission, another big surprise was him picking Jos Buttler to open the innings ahead of David Warner, who is the most successful overseas batsman in the history of the tournament.

If we go by records, there is no opener who could challenge Warner for the opener’s slot and the Australian would easily walk into any IPL team, although that’s a different thing that he was stripped of his captaincy and was dropped to the bench earlier this year.

Warner has scored 5,447 runs at an insane average of 42.22, with the help of 50 half-centuries and based on just stats no one comes close.

However, Suryakumar felt otherwise and left everyone surprised, including Warner himself, who took to the micro-blogging site and commented: “Can’t believe he’s left me out”.

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are two of the most successful franchises in IPL history, winning five and three titles respectively. The rivalry between the two sides is often dubbed as the ‘El Clasico’ of IPL and fans wondered if this rivalry was what kept Suryakumar from picking more CSK players in his IPL XI.
Not just CSK fans, even MI fans questioned him for leaving the T20 legend Lasith Malinga out, who wore the same jersey for several years.
Kohli is the higher run getter in ipl 🤣
    What mahi does ?

    — Kestrel (@bird_of_dreams) July 10, 2021IPL XI is incomplete without Malinga
    — R A T N I S H (@LoyalSachinFan) July 10, 2021Exactly , he is very very overrated
    Clearly MSD >>> Hardik
Hardik is the most overrated player I have ever seen
    — Kavish 🇮🇳 (@Kavish1248) July 10, 2021Disappointed with Dhoni’s omission, some die-hard fans even suggested which player should have made way for the CSK skipper.
Suryakumar picked Hardik Pandya and Andre Russell as two fast bowling all-rounders and people suggested that the former was the most overrated player they had ever seen in their life and that Dhoni should’ve been picked ahead of him.

The existence of trolls has plagued social media since forever. Not only are they hurtful but their ramifications can also impact mental health because of the toxicity they spew. Irrespective of whether you are a celebrity or a common person, trolls feel like it’s their birthright to humiliate people and won't spare you.
However, when it comes to female celebrities, they seem to stoop lower with every outburst. There have been numerous instances wherein people on social media have crossed the line with female celebs. Here are a few such instances.
    1. Malaika AroraRecently Malaika Arora took her second dose of COVID vaccination. Arora wrote, "Like I always say #weareinthistogether. I am going to be safe not just for myself but for YOU as well. Fully vaccinated. No words can express the gratitude I have for every single frontline warrior out there. Thank you all for being so amazing! @my_bmc @mybmchealthdept @zakaria_asif #staysafe #stayindoors #getvaccinated."

All she wanted to do was to create awareness but people trolled her brutally for the clothes that she was wearing while taking her second jab. The comments were nasty and extremely disrespectful.

    2. Mira Kapoor View this post on Instagram
Shahid Kapoor's wife Mira Rajput was brutally attacked and received backlash for an outfit choice for her Yoga session. She was seen wearing a cami top paired with a matching satin mini-skirt. It didn’t go down too well with netizens who said mean things to her. Would these people have reacted the same way if a male celeb walked in workout shorts and a ‘gunjee’?

    3. Deepika Singh View this post on Instagram
TV star Deepika Singh, who became a household name for portraying the role of Sandhya in daily soap Diya Aur Baati Hum, was mercilessly trolled for dancing in the rain and around fallen trees, following the destruction caused due to Cyclone Tauktae.

Sure, her post was insensitive, and deserved criticism, but she was subjected to distasteful comments across social media platforms. Well, how low is too low, after all.

    4. Kareena Kapoor Khan View this post on Instagram
Kareena Kapoor Khan was in the headlines a while back as she was reportedly approached to play the role of Sita in an upcoming mythological period saga film which will be helmed by Alaukik Desai. She was also brutally trolled for hiking her fee. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Bebo who usually asks in the Rs 6-8 crores range for her films has quoted a sum of Rs 12 crores which have put the producers in a tizzy. In fact, right now, they are reconsidering their decision and also taking the film to a younger actress, as well. But talks are on and Bebo remains the first choice.”
As soon as this news broke, people called her an urban Naxal and soon this became a religious matter out of nowhere.

    5. Sonam Kapoor View this post on Instagram
In an interview with Vogue, Sonam Kapoor said that she likes the freedom she has in London. She said, “I like the freedom here. I make my own food, clean my own space, shop for my own groceries.”

Her statements offended many people and she was called ‘dumb’. Personal attacks like these never do any good and it could actually be constructive if trolls took the time out to articulate the issue. If only they understood any better.
