Running, be it indoors or outdoors, is not everyone’s favourite type of workout. However, for people who love running, there’s nothing that can replace the high you feel after a good run.
Although, ensuring that your run is a good one isn’t easy. From the kind of shoes you wear to the correct technique, running is only a good experience if you do it the right way.
There are many things that every beginner at running should know about, including the right food to eat before and after running.
Before discussing the best food for runners, let’s check out what makes running such a great workout:
-Benefits Of Running Running, like any other form of workout, has more than one benefit. It’s a great form of cardiovascular exercise which improves not just your stamina but also bone strength. It also helps burn more calories and is good for fat loss.
Running also helps in reducing stress, depressive traits and anxiety. This helps in improving overall mental health and sleep troubles.
A recent study has also suggested that running can improve the body's immune responses and boost overall immunity.
-Best Foods To Eat Before Running According to experts, you must fuel up your body 30-60 minutes before running. If you’ve had a fulfilling meal, a pre-run snack is only necessary if you’re going to be running for more than 60 mins.
The perfect snack to eat before running should be high in carbohydrates, low in overall calories and not too heavy.
Here are some examples of foods to eat before running:
1. Bananas Bananas are a great pre-workout snack. You can also add some almond or peanut butter to your snack and you’ll be all fueled up for the run.
Make sure to keep the snack small but not too light.

2. Oats Oats are high in carbs and moderate in proteins. This is exactly why they are a great pre-workout snack.
Add some low-calorie fruits like berries to your meal and you’re done.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2039__
3. Toast With Nut Butter This one is a quick fix and tastes good too. All that you need to do is toast your favourite type of bread and add some nut butter to it.
You can go almond butter or peanut butter, the choice is yours.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2040__
4. Dry Cereal Eating cereal with milk may spike up your calorie count. Therefore, dry cereal makes for a great pre-running snack.
You can also add some fruits to your meal to make it more filling.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2041__
5. Snack Bar Lastly, if you’re someone who feels as lazy as we do, just go for a store-bought snack bar. You can pick and choose from hundreds of different types and you won’t even have to prepare your snack.
__ECOMPRODUCT__521__
-Best Foods To Eat After Running A post-workout snack is meant to recharge your body and speed up the recovery process. This makes your post-workout snack just as important as the pre-workout one.
A post-workout meal should be higher in protein because that helps in repairing and recovery of the tissues.
Here are some good examples of foods to eat after running:
1. A Protein Shake Rehydration is also an important part of recovery and protein shake helps in tackling both these aspects.
You can easily fix up this drink using any protein powder of your preference, within seconds.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2042__
__ECOMPRODUCT__2043__
2. A Yogurt Smoothie Yoghurt is a great source of protein and you can always turn your post-run meal into a smoothie bowl. Add some of your favourite fruits, yoghurt, sweetener of your choice and you’re done.
Top it off with some granola and fruits for added flavour.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2044__
3. Mixed Nuts If you don't want to fill yourself up too much, dry fruits and nuts are a great snack option. You can have a handful of these nuts along with a healthy beverage and you’re good to go.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2045__
4. Protein Bars Reaching out for a snack bar is always a good idea. There are many flavours and options that you can choose from.
They taste good and help you fulfil your daily protein requirement too.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2046__
5. A Glass Of Milk Milk is the most understated source of protein and if you are not lactose intolerant, there’s no reason to exclude it from your diet.
A glass of milk will give you a good enough amount of protein for recovery.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2047__
The Bottomline Nutrition is just as important as the workout itself and should not be ignored at any cost. These foods for runners are essential to fuel your runs and help you squeeze the most out of your workout.
Eating these foods will only help you improve your performance, day by day.
Which are some of your favourite pre and post-workout snacks? Let us know in the comments section below.

Giving our weekend a big and masaledar kickstart is the recent news about two of Bollywood industry’s biggest stars coming together for the remake of a hit Tamil film - Vikram Vedha.
We are talking about Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan coming together to star in the Hindi remake of the hit Tamil film.

Having featured R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupath in the original, where Madhavan played the role of a cop and Sethupati helmed as the criminal mastermind, the story is going to be an action crime thriller.
While the Tamil original came out in 2017, the remake is said to hit the screens next year in September with Hrithik and Saif in the titular roles.
Which actor is going to take up which role is yet to be disclosed, but excited folks on Twitter are already getting a jump start at making their guesses as to who will be a better Vikram and Vedha.

The movie is touted to have drawn from the folklore of vikram-betaal, a mythological story of a king who was righteous and brave, getting manipulated by a ghost who often tried to out-wit him.

The film is being made by Neeraj Pandey under his company Friday Filmworks in collaboration with YNot Studios and Reliance Entertainment.
The directors of the original Tamil film Pushkar-Gayathri will also direct the Bollywood remake.

“Hum do humaare do”, was a slogan introduced years ago by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, as she urged the importance of population control while we still could.
Of course, none of that worked since we currently stand at a gigantic population of 1,393,790,539 which is a few million too much.
And as India is predicted to take over China at becoming the most populous country in the world with a projected population of 1.45 billion by 2030, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to take matters into his own hands, at least, in regard to his state.
A draft bill on population control prepared by the UP State Law Commission proposes to make people with more than two children ineligible for govt jobs.
(By Pawan Dixit) | #UttarPradesh https://t.co/0FE2Mfzrik
— Hindustan Times (@htTweets) July 10, 2021
And by that, he means proposing a brand new bill, which if passed, shall imply that the benefits of various state government-sponsored welfare schemes will only be limited to those with two children or less.
Planning to reveal the first draft of his bill on July 11 which is also World Population Day, the announcement of his intention has already irked a massive reaction on Twitter where people are expressing both their concerns and their relief.
© Reuters
The bill, that is open to suggestions by the public until the 19th of July, will solely be looking at benefiting those who adopt the two-child policy that is being pitched.
The draft mentions, "Public servants who adopt the two-child norm will get two additional increments during the entire service, maternity or as the case may be, paternity leave of 12 months, with full salary and allowances and three per cent increase in the employer's contribution fund under national pension scheme."
Meanwhile, Twitter is filling up with reactions as the news is getting around.
One user wrote, “disaster absolute disaster this will be- absolute lunacy, with literacy and economic progress population itself goes down- this bill will be the beginning of the end...my god the sheer stupidity,” while another wrote, “Very good, should be implemented across all India soon.”
As Twitter stands divided, here are some of the reactions from the public:

Rahul Dravid for Team India head coach has been one of the most talked-about topics in the Indian cricketing community for the last couple of months, especially after he was named the head coach of India’s B-string team that is currently in Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series.
While no one knows what the future has in store for us, there is no doubt that Dravid has proven his calibre as a mentor and shaped the careers of so many youngsters in the country, first as a head coach of the Under-19 team and then as the Director of the National Cricket Academy.
© Twitter/BCCI
Dravid’s coaching career began with the Under-19 side and he made an immediate impact, guiding the Prithvi Shaw-led side to World Cup glory in 2018.
Like many other youngsters, Shaw has always spoken highly of Dravid and the impact that he had on their careers. But what makes the former India skipper special is the fact that he knows how to motivate the youngsters, especially when they are going through a tough phase.
© Twitter/BCCI
Shaw went through the toughest phase in his career in 2019 when he was banned for taking a prohibited substance named terbutaline, which he claimed he accidentally ingested while consuming cough syrups.
He was handed a backdated eight-month ban and wasn’t even allowed to practice for the first few months.
By now, Dravid was no longer the head coach of the Under-19 team but he knew his role as a mentor and motivated him to bounce back strongly.
View this post on Instagram
“On A tours, I did speak to him. When I got banned for doping, he called and said, “This is part of life. It’s ok. It wasn’t my fault and I will come back stronger.” It felt really nice that he talked to me even during my bad phase,” Shaw told Indian Express.
When Shaw became eligible to resume his training, Dravid called Shaw again and invited him to the NCA and looked after everything, from his training to his batting, which goes on to show why he is widely respected by everyone and is considered the front-runner to become the head coach of the Indian team.

People are eager to watch how Dravid fares as the head coach of the Indian team in Sri Lanka and many experts believe he is definitely in contention to become the head coach of the Team India.
Meanwhile, fans will have to wait to see Dravid as the head coach because the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, which was originally scheduled to start on June 13, has been pushed by five days and will now start from July 18.

The world hasn’t been a very rosy place to live in for a while now, and society doesn’t seem to be making it any easier, what with its stereotypes, unrealistic expectations and superficial beauty standards that it keeps on setting.
And despite the popular opinion, men aren’t all that better off than women either.
Subjected to similar scrutiny, especially when it comes to looking a certain way, men are also pressured by the unrealistic beauty standards that the industry has set for them.
The photoshopped pictures that we see making rounds on social media, the several filters that celebrities use on their images are all contributing to making the men around us feel more conscious and guarded every single day.
© iStock
Opening up about just that, were a bunch of men on a thread on Reddit, where they were asked, “How do you avoid insecurity of your body image when you see other guys have better body shape?”.
From hitting the gym, giving themselves a pep talk, trying to see the silver lining, men revealed all that they are trying to do to manage the everyday body issues they face.
© Reddit
One guy wrote, “There will always be some better then you, so just be the best person you can be and learn to love that,” and honestly, it didn’t just make sense, it was also a shortcut to a much happier life.
© Reddit
Another user shared how he tries to hit the gym to deal with his insecurities. He wrote, “Go to the gym abs get in shape. My quality of life grows exponentially the better shape I am in.”
© Reddit
One guy spilt a few truth bombs in his response as he ended up writing, “Realize that the People you want to look like, want to look different themselves. Everyone has insecurities about their appearance.” Couldn’t say we didn’t agree with him!
© Reddit
A user also tried to see the bigger picture, quite literally so, as he wrote, “I see the Marvel guys and I remember that they're paid to look like the way they do where I, on the other hand, am just existing. I work out for my mental health.”
The thread garnered over a 100 different answers from different kinds of men and it made us realise just how many men face the scrutiny of conforming to the beauty standards that have already been set.
However, it was good to see that most men are trying to talk themselves out of the need to change themselves and instead, accept them for who they are.

The Indian film industry has surprised us in many ways. Not just by giving hits at the box office but some films and stars have earned way more recognition than just that.
Bollywood has made tremendous progress and has found its name even in the Guinness World Records. Many movies and film stars hold a special record for various reasons.
Let's take a look at ten such examples that made us proud:
1. The Kapoor Khaandan © BCCL
It's not an unknown fact that the Kapoor family is huge in Bollywood and almost every person is an actor.
Back in 1999, it was the first family from Bollywood to go in the Guinness World Records for having many members of the family in the industry.
More than 24 members of the Kapoor family are a part of Indian cinema.
2. Shah Rukh Khan © Instagram/SRK
There's a reason why Shah Rukh is called the 'King Khan Of Bollywood'. The actor has not only ruled our hearts with his acting skills but is a part of the Guinness Records as well.
He became a massive name for his sky-high earnings in the Bollywood industry, which was Rs 220.5 crore in 2013 (2.2 bn rupees; £22.08 m; $37.06 m). Now, that's amazing!
3. Kumar Sanu © Instagram/KumarSanu_fc
Kumar Sanu is an iconic playback singer in the industry and became famous for his love songs in the 90s. The singer is said to have his name in the Guinness records for recording 28 songs in a single day.
4. Baahubali: The Beginning © Instagram/Bahubali_Fc
Apart from being one of the highest-grossing movies, Baahubali: The Beginning has the Guinness World Record for creating a massive poster of almost 50,000 sq ft.
With an area of 4,793.65 m², this was achieved by Global United Media Company Pvt Ltd in Kochi and it replaced the earlier record of Boss.
5. Abhishek Bachchan © Instagram/Abhishek Bachchan
Abhishek Bachchan is trolled often, but what these trolls don't know is that Jr Bachchan holds a Guinness record.
He made most public appearances within 12 hours, during the promotions of his movie Delhi-6. In fact, he defeated Will Smith who had also done three press events within two hours in 2004.
6. Jagdish Raj © Wikimedia
These days we see a lot of celebrities playing cops in movies but it was Jagdish Raj who essayed the role of an inspector in almost 144 movies.
Some of his best work includes Don, Deewar, and Silsila and he holds a record of being the most typecast actor.
7. Yaadein © YouTube/Cine Curry Classics
Almost every Bollywood movie has a huge ensemble. But Yaadein 1964, which was a black and white movie and was directed by Sunil Dutt, also found its place in Guinness World Records for being the only movie with a single actor, Sunil himself.
The movie also had Nargis, but not her entire character was shown, just the silhouette
8. Lalita Pawar © BCCL
An actress known for her powerful performances on-screen, Lalita Pawar also made a record for being the longest-serving actress in the industry.
She was a part of the industry for over 70 years as she made her debut at the mere age of 12. She did more than 700 movies in various languages.
9. Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai © Filmkraft productions
Hrithik Roshan's debut movie Kaho Naa... Pyaar hai is etched in our hearts. The film was not just a box office hit but also holds a Guinness World Record for winning almost 102 awards.
Not only Hrithik took home the award for the Best Debut Actor, but he also won The Best Actor at the same time.
10. Love and God (Kais Aur Laila) © YouTube/HD Movie Talkies
Not all Bollywood movies take time to be ready, but Love and God (Kais Aur Laila) that released in 1986, was completed in 20 years for various reasons.
During this movie, Guru Dutt passed away, and then later the director K. Asif. Hence the film couldn't get completed.
It was released in 1986 with Sanjeev Kumar as the main hero. The movie has a record of being the longest production of Bollywood.

Ever since I’ve been watching Bollywood movies and bingeing on shows on OTT platforms, every time that I come across a kissing scene, I tend to wonder what it must be like to shoot it behind the screen.
Is the chemistry real? Does it feel awkward? Are the actors uncomfortable?
Seems like Family Man actress Ashlesha Thakur, who was seen donning the role of Dhriti in the hit series, has finally answered our questions by opening about her own kissing scene in the show.
Spoiler alert - it was 'no fun'!
© Prime Video
Having gained quite a bit of critical acclaim and an outpouring inbox full of rishtas, Ashlesha Thakur has been the talk of the town.
And as she basks in the glory of her recent success, she also opened up about her experience of shooting for the Manoj Bajpayee starrer show, touching base on her kissing scene.
“I was very nervous. It was a very new thing for me to do. I had to bring maturity to the character and not have that kidd-ish way of acting. I wanted to make it look very natural and spontaneous. I watched a lot of web series where there is a love interest involved. I researched and studied a lot,” shared Ashlesha in an interview with a leading daily.
© Prime Video
She went on to say, “Shooting the kissing scene is very technical. It is no fun. It is my work and whatever the requirements are as an actor, I should be comfortable with it...I trust my directors and did not worry about what it would look like on screen because I know how meticulous they are with their writing."
© Prime Video
The young actress also got candid about the much talked about kidnapping scene in the show as she said, “It was exhausting and emotionally and mentally challenging for me. Getting kidnapped was something that was making me very nervous. I did not want to do that scene. I was telling Raj and Suparn sir, ‘let’s do it another day’. When I did the first take, I was confused whether I was doing the correct thing. When the directors supported me, I knew I was on the right track."

Keeping your skin healthy is so hard. Having absolutely no time to squeeze out from our busy schedule only makes it more difficult to achieve good skin.
Plus, the stress, environmental aggressors and poor diet do not help.
© iStock
Have you ever wished skincare was as easy as, say, sleeping? Well, it is. You can actually sleep your way to better skin. There are some easy and helpful habits you can incorporate into your bedtime routine to make sure the little time you get before you go to bed adds to your skincare.
© iStock
Here are 5 little things you can do before sleeping that can help you achieve good skin without much effort:
1. Sleep On A Clean Pillow © iStock
Your pillowcase acquires dirt through the day and oil and dead cells that your skin produces overnight so, make sure you change the covers of your pillows regularly.
Especially for people with oily and acne-prone skin type, this little hygiene habit can make a whole lot of difference.
2. Cleanse © iStock
Even if you didn't step out all day, your skin could have accumulated dust and dirt. These impurities clubbed with oil and sweat invite skin problems like irritation, acne and dullness.
Make sure you wash your face every night before bed.
3. Hydrate © iStock
While a night cream or a moisturiser would only hydrate your skin, drinking a glass of water before you hit the sack will help hydrate it from within through the night.
Make it a habit to hydrate yourself at night.
4. Eat A Healthy Dinner © iStock
Binging on chips late at night or having a beer isn’t helping the health of your body, or your skin.
Avoid having carbs, alcohol sweets and fried food and instead have a light, healthy meal a couple of hours before you sleep.
Remember, most skin problems are a result of a bad diet.
5. Keep Your Phone Aside © iStock
Not only using your phone before bed hampers your sleep but also harms your skin. The blue light that emits from your phone makes your skin age faster and add up to early ageing signs.
Also, it can give you dark circles, puffiness and tired-looking eyes. So, put your phone away a couple of hours before bed to sleep better and wake up with even better skin.
