Until the beginning of last year, none of us worried about booking a flight and travelling to our favourite destinations. Then came the strain of the virus and the outbreak was so atrocious that we ended up in a lockdown.

When things got better, it felt like people wanted to rush back to their everyday lives. To such an extent that mass gatherings also couldn't be avoided.
One such example of that was the Kumbh Mela, which was met with a lot of criticism

We now have vaccines, but the pandemic is not over yet. As experts predict the onset of the third wave, we also witnessed crowding in tourist places like Manali and the Kempty waterfalls.

Moreover, ever since lockdown restrictions eased in Himachal Pradesh, people have been imprudent with their decisions.

Now, a vast crowd was witnessed at Rohtang pass, where unruly tourists broke the pandemic norms of social distancing and wearing masks. Rohtang pass is 13,000 feet above sea level, where the temperature last week was around 7-10 Degrees Celsius.

The place was open to tourists after the restrictions were lifted in June. But, just like other tourist places, evenRohtang saw several people flouting Covid-10 mandates.
Not just that, but people are openly disobeying the rules with horse and yak riding and other activities.

When a tourist was asked as to why he was not wearing a mask, he said, "No, we are not afraid of another Covid-19 wave. Covid is nothing, Punjabis do not fear Covid."

The team of India Today decided to head to Rohtang pass and witnessed couples breaking the norms and enjoying several activities.
Thakur Das, who runs a business in Rohtang pass, mentioned that adventure tourism was severely hit during the pandemic. He said, "Adventure tourism activities did not happen last year. Yes, there is a fear of Covid-19 but we are taking precautions."

Other activities, including zipline rides and river rafting, have also opened up and are a famous sport among couples, whereas youngsters are attracted to hiking and hot air balloon rides.

There are high chances of a third wave during august and September, and if crowding continues to increase in the coming days, there could be another plausible lockdown. The lack of fear in people has led to a rise in cases. God save us all!

Here are some reactions of people on Twitter:

It’s been over a week since Arjuna Ranatunga created a huge controversy by calling the visiting Indian team a “weak side” and since then, people have presented their varied opinions on the matter.
The latest name to pop up on the matter is that of former Sri Lanka opener Aravinda de Silva, who has rejected Ranatunga’s comments and said that have a strong pool of players and it would be foolish to label the visitors as a second-string side.
How is #TeamIndia beating the heat ️ and staying in Sri Lanka?

We go behind the scenes to find out ️#SLvIND pic.twitter.com/wUNk8FBp5q
    — BCCI (@BCCI) July 7, 2021
In fact, he admitted that it would be a challenge for Sri Lanka to beat this Indian team and if they managed to do that, it would boost their confidence going into the T20 World Cup later this year.
“There is no way we can call this a second-string Indian side. India have enormous talent and this side is as good as any. In fact, it will be a challenge for us to beat this Indian team," De Silva said, during a virtual group instruction ahead of the ODI series.
    © Twitter/BCCI
"We can take enormous amount of confidence going into the T20 World Cup (later this year) if we can beat India,” he added.

The coronavirus pandemic has disturbed the international calendar and given the travel restrictions imposed all over the world the BCCI has, for the first time, decided to field two separate teams in different parts of the world and De Silva feels it will become the norm in the near future.
"This is a second string Indian team and their coming here is an Insult on our Sri Lanka cricket. I blame the current administration for agreeing to play with them due to television marketing needs." - Arjuna Ranatunga (Told Reporters)
    — CricketMAN2 (@man4_cricket) July 2, 2021
“I guess I won't blame anyone for changing squads and sending different squads on various tours, that I guess is going to be the future,” said De Silva, who played a key role in Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup triumph.
Initially, India was supposed to play only three matches against Sri Lanka but the BCCI agreed for three additional matches upon the request made by the island nation’s cricket board.

There is no affluent board in world cricket than the BCCI and showing bigger heart it agreed to the SLC President Shammi Silva’s request and helped which would help them earn Rs 89.7 crore.

Instead of thanking the BCCI, Ranatunga had slammed his own cricket board for hosting a weak Indian side and became a thorn in the eye of many Indian supporters.

"India sent their best team to England and sent a weaker side to play here. I blame our board for that," said the former Sri Lanka skipper.

In another bizarre incident, a bride corrected the photographer during her wedding photoshoot twice after he accidentally called her by the wrong name. The photographer had called her by the groom’s ex partner’s name.

And then there was an awkward silence for a long moment.
According to Times Now, a photographer was in the middle of clicking wedding pictures when he accidentally called the bride Katelyn by her groom’s ex-girlfriend’s name, Taylor.
    © Unsplash
The videographer explained that the bride from the last wedding he covered was named Taylor and this was just an unintentional error. The video was captioned as, "The bride from the week before was named Taylor.”

However, some people were furious on the bride’s behalf and slammed the videographer. One user wrote, "After the first time, I would have actually gotten mad; lmao unprofessional. How do you not even know the name of the bride of the wedding you’re working."
Another wrote, "As a photographer, I call people the wrong name ALL the time... I would die if this happened to me."

In another episode of this happens only in India, three farmers in Gujarat have been arrested for selling illegal alcohol after their own buffaloes got drunk on it.

    Yes, you read that right!
    © Unsplash
Police official Dilipsingh Baldev said, one of the accused had to call a local veterinarian when their buffaloes started acting strangely and their mouths started frothing.

The vet then inspected the water trough that the buffaloes were drinking from and figured out that the water smelled different and also had a slightly different colour.
    © Unsplash
It was later found that the three farmers had hidden bottles of illicit alcohol in a trough and some of them had broken which led to contamination of water.

The vet then informed the police and then the police recovered around 100 bottles of alcohol worth Rs 32,000.
However, the three farmers were later arrested.

Gujarat had banned the consumption of alcohol in 1960 as a homage to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Since then Gujarat has witnessed several cases of alcohol poisoning which has claimed the lives of more than 400 people after the ban was enforced.

In Gujarat, making, buying, selling, or transporting alcohol is a punishable offense, and people who are found guilty have to bear hefty fines and even prison sentences.

There’s something about celebrities and their life that has timelessly attracted the general public. Call it curiosity or plain interest, a lot of people are actually deeply invested in the lives of their favourite celebs and their lives get affected with the changes in the life of that celeb.
A new movie release, a divorce, a new relationship and even the birth of their baby becomes a reason for diversion for their fans. The entire nation has been obsessed with Taimur, the four-year-old son of Kareena and Saif. He is actually a paparazzi star and is known to be extremely camera-friendly.

Earlier this year, the gorgeous couple welcomed their second child, a baby boy, in February. There were a lot of rumours around what is his name and who will he be named after, etc. Last time, when Taimur was born, there was a storm of controversy around the name as some claimed it to be ‘anti-national’ and other people wrote about how the king who was named Taimur was not great for India and hence the baby shouldn’t be named after him. This time around, the parents have maintained stunning silence on what they have named the second boy.

We lost a shining gem two days ago, when India’s biggest superstar and the first star, Dilip Kumar, left for his heavenly abode leaving behind his memories. The entire world has been paying respect to the late actor on social media and some are even sharing anecdotes and memories they have with him.

BJP leader Arun Yadav’s condolence message has left a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouth as his tweet about the legendary actor didn’t go down too well with some people. Actress and politician Urmila Matondkar even called him out for claiming that Dilip Kumar took a Hindu name to earn money.

    — Arun Yadav (@beingarun28) July 7, 2021Shame on you
    — Urmila Matondkar (@UrmilaMatondkar) July 7, 2021In an interview with PTI, she further elaborated on her displeasure. “It is sad to see that a legend of our country is being trivialised by saying that he kept a Hindu name to earn money. One needs to show dignity and class. He has done so many socially relevant films. He helped the widows of soldiers who lost their lives in Kargil war and did innumerable amounts of social work. It is because of this particular thinking of these people that there are many people who think it is fine to create a constant communal division and whitewash it. Shame on thinking like this. He (Yadav) needs to grow up. He needs to get the information correct,"

    © BCCL
Legendary actor Dilip Kumar was born Mohammed Yousuf Khan on December 11, 1922 in Peshawar, Pakistan. He changed his name to Dilip Kumar after it was suggested to him by producer Devika Rani, who was the head of the Bombay Talkies. The words used on the internet can often hurt sentiments if not used with caution.

The Family Man 2 was released on Amazon Prime and became a big hit amongst the audience. While Manoj Bajpayee's role received a lot of love and appreciation, we also couldn't miss out on other actors on the show who gave stellar performances.
One of them was Ashlesha Thakur, who played the role of Dhriti Tiwari. Ashlesha's character on the show sees her becoming rebellious amid the growing problems in her family.
Season 2 also introduced the romantic relationship of Dhriti and Kalyan.

In an interview with News18, when Ashlesha was asked about playing the role of a romantic interest opposite Abhay Verma, she mentioned that she was indeed nervous and had to bring maturity into the character.

She said, "I wanted to make it look very natural and spontaneous. I watched a lot of web series where there is a love interest involved. I researched and studied a lot. Shooting the kissing scene is very technical. It is no fun. It is my work and whatever the requirements are as an actor, I should be comfortable with it."
    © Amazon Prime
When she learned that she has a love interest in season 2, the directors asked Ashlesha and her father to come to their office. After some discussion, the actress finally decided to go ahead, as she wanted to evolve as an actor.

"I am also evolving as an actor. I trust my directors and did not worry about what it would look like on screen because I know how meticulous they are with their writing." she concluded.

This isn't the first time Ashlesha and Abhay have worked together. They were earlier seen in TVF, and Ashlesha mentioned that she was lucky that she already knew him.

Even though love scenes are hard to pull off as a teenager, with the support of their directors, both of them were able to break the ice on-screen.
    © Instagram/Ashlesha Thakur
Ashlesha also shared that after the show, the actress started receiving many marriage proposals in her DMs. "I have a lot of 'rishtas' in my DMs and people are sending me the creepiest and the sweetest of messages. I like the attention but I don't know how much of it is true."

    © Amazon Prime
The actress spoke about the kidnapping scene and said it was emotionally and mentally exhausting.

As for choosing the scripts, Ashlesha would discuss it with her father but would take the final call if she was comfortable with the scene. She also mentioned that even if the character is grey, she takes it up as she has an open mind about it.
    © Instagram/Ashlesha Thakur
Ashlesha is no longer just identified by her role as Dhriti on the show, as she enjoys a mammoth following on Instagram.

Apart from the show, she debuted in the TV industry with SHAKTI- Astitva Ke Ahsaas Ki and was also seen in Pagglait opposite Sanya Malhotra.

Rishabh Pant’s stocks have risen exponentially in the last six to seven months and now, he is one of the first members on the team sheet in all three formats of the game.
It’s hard to imagine that he was dropped from the limited-overs side last year and started the Test series against Australia as a backup keeper.
That probably was the lowest point of his career but now, he has overcome that bad phase and has cemented his place not just as a wicket-keeper but also as a batsman who can turn things around with his attacking play in no time.
    © Instagram/Rishabh Pant
Impressed with his growth in the last few months, the former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh sees Pant as the potential candidate to take over the captaincy of the Indian team in the future.

Pant is only 23 but he has experienced so many ups and downs in his international career and has learned his lessons the hard way by repeating the same mistakes again.
    © Reuters
Yuvraj was glad that Pant was able to convert his critics into admirers by playing some memorable knocks under pressure and guiding India home in difficult conditions.

"I am very glad, that you are saying he is very mature and he is a find for India because I felt he got a lot of criticism after the ways (in which) he got out. So, it is good to listen to some positive words for him. I totally agree with you. Rishabh has proven that he is a match-winner. In tough conditions like Australia, the way he batted and the way he got a brilliant hundred against England as well. He is probably a key (player) in the middle order," Yuvraj told TOI.
    © Instagram/Yuvraj Singh
Due to his attacking flair, Pant is often compared to Australia great Adam Gilchrist, and Yuvraj also concurred that the left-handed batsman has all the qualities to impact a Test match just like the former Australian wicket-keeper.

"I see someone, Rishabh Pant, like Adam Gilchrist who can change the course of the game. Gilchrist changed the course of the game in Test cricket when he came onto the scene. And I feel Rishabh can do the same," said Yuvraj, who won the Man of the Tournament when India lifted the 2011 World Cup.
    View this post on Instagram
"I also see Rishabh as a potential Indian captain in the future. Because he is jumpy, chirpy, and talks around. But I feel he surely has a smart brain as well because I saw him when he was captaining in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. He did an incredible job. So, people should look at him as the next captain of the Indian team in the coming years," Yuvraj said while describing what makes Pant the right candidate to lead the Indian team.
While there is no set criteria for what makes for a great leader, captaining any international side is a different ball game altogether than leading a local state team or an IPL franchise. It’s a high-pressure job and requires a lot of patience.
    © Reuters
While backing Pant, the explanation Yuvraj gave was a bit weird as he said Pant was well-suited to lead the side “because he is jumpy, chirpy, and talks around” and it made us thinks these can't be his plus-points as no skipper has succeeded at the international level with these specific qualities.

Pant has his whole career left ahead of him and comparing him to someone like Gilchrist based on a few good knocks is a bit too early and ex-cricketers like Yuvraj should refrain from doing such comparisons as it puts unnecessary pressure on the player and might affect their game adversely.

People say that stars rarely use their stardom for any good. Well, if you’re a fan of Thalapathy Vijay, then you can beg to disagree.

In a rather bizarre incident, the life of a 10-year-old boy from Chennai was actually saved by Vijay and his film, Bigil. The incident just goes on to show, just how profound an impact do films have on real life.

    © Screen Scene Media Entertainment
The boy, who has been identified as Sasivaran, was out late at night with his uncle, Arvind. Both of them were out shopping and had a late dinner outside. While returning home on his uncle’s motorcycle Sasivaran actually fell asleep, and eventually, fell down from the motorcycle, injuring himself quite badly.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital with some deep injuries to his face and forehead. After examining him, the doctors came to the conclusion that there were no internal injures, but they had to stitch his wounds up, as they were in some vital areas.
    © iStock
However, the 10-year-old boy wouldn’t let the doctors and the medical staff touch him with a needle, let alone inject him with anaesthetics, given he was afraid of needles.

Finally, a volunteer at the Hospital by the name of Jinnah stepped up and just struck a very casual conversation with the boy. During their chat, Jinnah discovered that Sasivaran is a huge fan of movies, especially those that feature Vijay. They got chatting about Vijay, and soon enough, the boy forgot all about the needles.
    © Screen Scene Media Entertainment
Jinnah then gave his phone to the boy, and the both of them started watching Vijay’s film Bigil, where he plays a dual role of a coach turned gangster and his father.

Soon, the boy pretty much calmed down and got so engrossed in the film, that doctors were finally able to inject him with anaesthetics and operate on him.

Vijay actually enjoys a massive fan following among the audience of Tamil movies. Although his fan base consists of people from all ages, he is particularly popular among the younger generation, especially among children and teenagers.

If you ask us, now that’s what stardom is all about. That’s how stardom should be used.

Dinesh Karthik has opened up about how some of the Indian cricket fans attached unreasonable expectations from him during the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand last month in Southampton, England.
Making his debut as a commentator, the Indian wicket-keeper batsman did well, all things considered, to be funny, analytical and most importantly entertaining as a voice behind the microphone.

Unfortunately, he ended up doing a little too much by also becoming the ‘Weatherman’ at the Ageas Bowl cricket ground, when he began to share pictures and weather updates during what turned out to be a rain-marred event.
Speaking on the ‘22 Yarns with Gaurav Kapur’ podcast, DK explained how thousands of people began to abuse him for saying that it was raining at the venue and even for not waking up early enough to give them weather updates every single day.
    View this post on Instagram
“‘Weatherman’ is a very double-edged sword; I’ll put it on record. The first day, a lot of praise, the second day, very happy, the third day they started abusing me. I wanted to sleep yaar; I can’t wake up every day at 6’o clock to give a weather report.
“They took it too seriously on social media. They started abusing me saying, ‘Wake up! What the hell are you doing?’ in far more choice words that I can’t use on the podcast, just for not waking up, which was hard but you have to live up to their expectations I guess. I got abused for saying it was raining!” Karthik stated.
    View this post on Instagram
“Two things I got abused for were for saying it’s gray and it’s raining and the fact that I couldn’t wake up early to give the news. And a lot of it, I am talking about thousands of abuses. Not one or two, that I would have let go. Thousands saying ‘Wake up, wake the hell up’,” Karthik added.
Overall, Karthik’s new job is yet to reach the one-month mark. However, the Chennai-born cricketer has gotten in some serious trouble and even had to apologise on live television a couple of times for going overboard with jokes during matches.

Former Indian opener and a massive social media presence in the Indian cricketing community, Wasim Jaffer has presented his “unpopular opinion” about why Rahul Dravid should not become the full-time head coach of the Indian squad, in his YouTube Channel.
“I feel that he [Dravid] should not push himself to become the coach of an international team,” Jaffer says in the introductory bit of the video before getting into the nitty gritties of what he really means.
    View this post on Instagram
Talking about the fact that there are two strings of the Indian cricket team at the moment that are scheduled to play Test and white-ball series England and Sri Lanka, respectively and almost simultaneously, Jaffer says:
“It’s very rare to see two teams of an international team play cricket simultaneously, which goes on to show how strong India’s bench strength and how many good players there are. The credit obviously goes to the BCCI. The way they’ve developed the infrastructure and pathway is the reason for this strong supply line of players to the national team,” Jaffer says.
    View this post on Instagram
“Even more credit, I think, should go to Rahul Dravid. The way he is working as a head coach at the NCA and the way he’s guiding U19 players, India A players, fringe players and even the international players who go to NCA [National Cricket Academy] when they aren’t in the team. There can’t be a better role model or mentor than Rahul Dravid.”
“And now he’s going as a coach of this Indian team to Sri Lanka. So I am sure those youngsters will benefit a lot and I personally feel that he should not push himself to become the coach of an international team.”
    NEW VIDEO

Unpopular Opinion: Rahul Dravid shouldn't become India coach full time cos couple of other teams need him more.

    Link: https://t.co/hgd0a6zWdn #SLvIND #RahulDravid pic.twitter.com/QQaR9bbw3c
    — Wasim Jaffer (@WasimJaffer14) July 9, 2021
“I feel he needs to work with the U-19 and India A players at the NCA. I believe the international players who play in the Indian team are a finished product but Rahul Dravid’s mentorship and guidance is more needed at the U19 and India A level as it can help to reach the next level.”
“He needs to stay at the NCA for a longer period for out bench strength to keep on growing even stronger. It’s a very exciting series in front of us. Lots of youngsters to look out for and I wish all the players all the very best,” Jaffer concludes.

Unfortunately for the Ranji Trophy legend, not all of his fans agree with his ‘hot take’ this time around, which led to some mixed reactions on Twitter when he first shared the video:
