uring the tea break of Day 3 of the ICC World Test Championship final, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan opened up about an incident early in his cricketing life when Sourav Ganguly decided to be honest with him at the absolute worst time possible.
According to CricTracker Pathan explained that it was just before he was supposed to make his international debut against the Australians, the then team captain, Ganguly walked up to him and straightaway told him “I did not want you in the team.”

“Dada thought that I was too young as a 19-year-old to be playing in Australia and that I would be challenged,” Pathan went on to explain the skipper’s reservations towards Pathan, who was just 19-years-old at the time but went on to dismiss Adam Gilchrist with a ripper of a yorker in just his second match.
Heading into the series, Pathan was surrounded by doubts and insecurities but by the time the series debutant was back home, he was the fresh youngblood, everyone was ready to back with all their heart. In the two matches that he played, Pathan managed to pick four wickets, including a three-wicket haul at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The southpaw not only dealt with the demons in his own head but in fact went on to get an apology by his captain, who admitted to have wrongly assessed Pathan’s talents, skills and mental preparation.
“He (Ganguly) came up to me and said how he was wrong in his views. That really shocked me, because very rarely does a skipper talk about the selection and then admits his mistake,” Pathan recalled.

Pathan would go down the history of Indian cricketer as one of the most talented cricketers who had the skills to take the burden of the team on both sides of the field - with the ball and the bat, but not being able to live up to his own expectations due to overwork and a series of unfortunate and ill-timed injuries.
Nonetheless, ever since he has made his transition as a cricket analyst and commentator, Pathan has received nothing but unconditional support from his fans and continues to be one of the most respected members of the Indian cricket community to date.

Xiaomi is developing a revolutionary technology that will allow smartphones and other electronics to charge using sound. This could potentially change how we charge our devices in the near future. The company has been experimenting with charging technologies as the company showcased true wireless charging tech earlier this year called the ‘Mi Air Charge’. Now a new patent filed with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) shows another advancement the company has been working on. The patent was spotted by GizChina and here’s what the new technology can do.

The patent shows a system that uses a mechanism for storing energy and a sound charger, which will in turn be used to charge a smartphone or an electronic device. The device converts the vibrations from sound waves and stores the energy into an alternating current. The alternate current is then converted to DC power to charge electrical devices. What’s unique about this method is that it doesn’t require a power outlet.

Xiaomi’s ‘Air Charge’ was unveiled earlier this year is yet another way the company has been innovating in new charging tech. Air Charge can deliver a 5W charge within a radius of several meters. The charging tech even works if there are any obstacles between the charging device and your smartphone.

“The core technology of Xiaomi’s remote charging lies in space positioning and energy transmission. Xiaomi’s self-developed isolated charging pile has five phase interference antennas built-in, which can accurately detect the location of the smartphone. A phase control array composed of 144 antennas transmits millimetre-wide waves directly to the phone through beamforming," the company said at the time.

Xiaomi also announced a new 200W fast charger called the ‘HyperCharge’ that can charge a smartphone at 200W. The new charger could fully charge a 4,500 mAh battery in just 8 minutes, which is currently a world record.
It is worth pointing out that you shouldn’t get your hopes up right now as Xiaomi has only filed a patent for new technology. There is no indication whether Xiaomi will make a viable commercial product anytime soon. Having said that, the way Xiaomi is going in terms of developing new charging technology, one never knows.

The world has become a weird place to live in and in another episode of 'this happens only in India’, a monkey entered the Delhi metro and chilled along with passengers. Now, the video of the same has surfaced on social media.
The video clip showed the monkey roaming around in a Delhi metro coach and then was sitting next to a commuter and was also spotted holding his hands.
ANI took to Twitter and wrote, “Monkey was spotted around 4:45 pm as the train moved from Yamuna Bank to IP & moved away on its own by the time it was brought to DMRC's notice. No harm caused to anyone & it wasn’t spotted thereafter in metro premises: DMRC on video(in pic)showing a monkey inside a Delhi Metro train.”

Also, a commuter posted a video of the monkey chilling in the metro in which a person can be heard saying Yamuna Bank Station, which is on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro. The DMRC couldn’t immediately confirm the incident.
It responded to the video saying, “Hi, thank you for reaching out. Kindly mention the coach number and current station for further assistance.”

The weather forecasts for the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand aren’t encouraging at all, with rain predicted to play spoilsport throughout the match.
Despite the overcast conditions, Team India went in with three pacers and two specialist spinners, whereas the New Zealand line-up didn’t have a single spinner, as they went in with four front-line fast bowlers and a seaming all-rounder.
Virat Kohli and team management announced the playing XI on the eve of the match but had the chance to alter the line-up after no action was possible on the opening day, including the toss.
It is hard on Siraj but Ishant's incredible numbers over the last few years and, I suspect, confidence in his current fitness level, have tilted it in his favour. This is as complete a bowling attack as you can get
    — Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) June 17, 2021
A complete washout on the opening day provided India with an opportunity to possibly alter their playing XI and include an extra seamer, but the management decided against it and went in with the same combination.
Having seen the Indian bowlers struggle for wickets on the third day, one couldn’t help but wonder if India really missed the trick by not including Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI as his ability to swing the ball both ways would have definitely made him a lethal choice.
Here are the problems that emerged in Mohammed Siraj’s absence:
    1. Lack Of Quality Swing Bowlers © Instagram Mohammed Siraj
The three fast bowlers Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami that India played in the game are primarily the ‘hit-the-deck-hard’ types and they rely on their bounce, more than anything, to trouble the batsman, whereas Siraj’s strength lies in his swing and the conditions in Southampton would have completely suited his style to bowling.

Despite toiling hard, Bumrah, Ishant and Shami couldn’t even generate half of the seam movement that New Zealand bowlers managed during their bowling.
    2. Struggle For Ideal Length © Instagram Mohammed Siraj
One explanation as to why Indian fast bowlers weren’t as effective as their counterparts could be because they struggled to find their ideal length on the pitch.

They bowled comparatively short-of-length which made it easy for the New Zealand batsmen to either defend or shoulder arms and let it pass into wicketkeeper’s gloves.
Pitching the ball a little but higher up would’ve forced the batsmen into the drive, something all NZ bowlers especially Kyle Jamieson did extremely well and reaped the rewards.
Siraj is also known for bowling in the same channel and his presence would have definitely made India a more potent bowling attack.
    3. Excessive Burden On The Three Pacers © Reuters
Playing two spinners together meant longer spells for the three Indian fast bowlers, and it affected their recovery. The conditions were more suitable for the pacers but Kohli had only three of them at his disposal, which made it difficult for him to give them enough rest in between spells.

Kane Williamson, on the other hand, was able to manage the workload of his quicks because he had plenty of options to pick from. Bumrah was nowhere near his best and conceded over three runs per over and that aggravated India’s problems even further.
    4. India Bowled With Four Bowlers © Reuters
In order to rest his fast bowlers, Kohli was left with no choice but to bring in Ravichandran Ashwin, who bowled nicely and also gave India their first breakthrough.

But if you would have asked any batsman to pick between a pacer and a spinner as to who he would like to face, his answer would have been a no-brainer.
Kohli also realised this and that’s why he didn’t bring Jadeja into the attack for so long and made him bowl only three overs which meant India managed the day with only four bowlers.
