Sonu Sood has been on the forefront when it comes to helping the needy ever since India has been hit by the deadly Coronavirus. He has been arranging hospital beds and helping people with medical care incessantly. While many are praising him, District Magistrate and Collector of Ganjam in Odisha accused him of taking undue credit for arranging a hospital bed in the district.
The official Twitter account for the District Magistrate and Collector, Ganjam, wrote in a tweet, “We don’t received any communication from @SoodFoundation or @SonuSood. The requested patient is in Home isolation and stable. No bed issues @BrahmapurCorp is monitoring it. @CMO_Odisha.”
© Twitter/District Magistrate and Collector, Ganjam
After Ganjam DM accused of him taking credit, Sonu Sood took to Twitter to give it back and said that he never claimed to have contacted the DM in the first place. He shared screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation with a person who was looking for an oxygen bed.

Sharing the screenshots, he wrote, "Sir, We never claimed that we approached you, it's needy who approached us & we arranged the bed for him, attached are the chats for your reference. Ur office is doing a great job & u can double-check that we had helped him too. Have DM you his contact details. Jai Hind.”

People came forward to support Sonu as they believe he has been helping people by his choice and authorities should respect him for doing so.

Responding to Sonu Sood’s tweet, the tweet from the official handle of DM read, “Our intention was not to criticize your system. We have our own TEAM GANJAM to ensure bed availability for patients which work 24*7. Still, it’s our duty to investigate if any issues about bed availability. That’s why we cleared the facts. You and your Organization doing a great job.”

The actor has spent more than a year providing aid to the needy but he was questioned and trolled mercilessly as people doubted his intentions. Last year, he told SpotboyE in an interview, “I am not really going out of my way to justify my behaviour to people who doubt my intentions. To be negative is in their DNA. It’s not their fault. All these are trolls. They have no spine and they are only seeking attention.”

Former Indian wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel recently shared a sarcastic tweet about the extremely difficult COVID-19 situation in India by sharing a picture of a bunch of people lining up in huge numbers to presumably order dalwada from a shop.
Pls don’t complain about hospital bed or oxygen...u have chosen DALWADA over your health and others too... #DoYourBit pic.twitter.com/uE1nAuQyJq
    — parthiv patel (@parthiv9) May 18, 2021
“Pls don’t complain about hospital bed or oxygen...u have chosen DALWADA over your health and others too... #DoYourBit,” the cricketer tweeted while sharing a shocking and disheartening picture of people flouting the pandemic protocol for something so mundane, especially when the country is struggling to make space in hospitals to register active COVID patients and supplying them with oxygen to keep them alive.
However, Patel’s message got lost on a few people who felt that the cricketer was generalising the entire nation based on the foolishness of a few.
As a result, the tweet received major backlash.
Unfollowing, citizens are to be blamed that doesn’t mean we stop criticizing the Government, our prime minister was busy doing rallies amidst the pandemic, so yeah he is accountable.
    — siddhant humne (@half_sid) May 18, 2021Are these bunches of people represent all india ???
How can you generalise things like that
    — LR (@lrgodara00) May 18, 2021Then.who's responsible for this situation?? Why government not consider nationalwide lockdown..
    — டீட்டு (@RahulRagavi) May 18, 2021Now u can’t blame government until citizens understand covid situation
    — Parth (@Parth7055) May 18, 2021 Eventually, people began to understand the true meaning behind Patel’s tweet and started appreciating his take on the issue as well:
Absolutely spot on. They have no rights in complaining about beds or O2. #StayHomeStaySafe Still i see ppl roaming without masks. When they will realise. https://t.co/1Ug0ElTm5A
    — Vasanth Raj (@cooldudeYVR) May 18, 2021So true dadvada fafda panipuri
Ye sab apni health se jyada jaroori he fir

    — saurabh pandya (@sambhupandya) May 18, 2021Pathetic... Most stupid and insensitive.. When will we learn.. Oh god.. https://t.co/vKthbLfhrE
    — The One (@reachdhavan) May 18, 2021Tweet for the whole nation to see. https://t.co/EMSqUKoGU9
    — Umesh Rao (@Raumesh7) May 18, 2021 The cricketing fraternity in India has done a lot to contribute to the nation’s fight against the pandemic amid what is considered to be the worst wave of the virus to have ever been seen by the world.
From Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma starting a fundraising campaign while contributing Rs 2 crores from their end, and eventually making it to the Rs 7 crore mark within a week to players like Yuzvendra Chahal about Rs 1 lakh.
The coronavirus pandemic in India is finally seeing a noticeable drop in daily cases based on the various reports. As of Saturday, the country reported its smallest daily increase in positive infected cases in about the past three weeks. However, the death rate continues to be near the 4,000-mark.
According to Reuters the overall rate of positive cases per tests had dipped to 19.8% last week from 21.9% the week before
Having said that, the crisis is far from over and it is the duty of each and every individual to practise social distancing and try to avoid going out as much as possible.

Renowned industrialist Harsh Goenka has landed himself in cold water after posting a tweet regarding the respective divorces of billionaires Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.
    © Twitter
Gates, the founder of Microsoft, along with his wife Melinda France Gates, announced recently that they would be parting ways after a 27-year-old marriage.

    © Twitter
The couple's decision comes two years after Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos split from his wife MacKenzie Scott.

    © Twitter
Unfortunately, Goenka, who is the chairman of RPG Group, could not resist but post a tweet regarding the situation, that has been labeled as sexist and misogynistic by many social media users.

While trying to possibly poke fun at the billionaire divorce situation, Goenka in his tweet on Monday (May 17) said, "Bill Gates divorced. Jeff Bezos divorced. Moral: Don’t earn so much money that the wife finds divorce alimony more appealing than the husband. Keep spending money on yourself."
    Bill Gates divorced.

    Jeff Bezos divorced.

Moral: Don’t earn so much money that the wife finds divorce alimony more appealing than the husband. Keep spending money on yourself.
    — Harsh Goenka (@hvgoenka) May 17, 2021
Now, while the tweet could certainly be a WhatsApp forward that the 63-year-old businessman had posted on Twitter, Goenka was not spared for it nonetheless.
Angry social media users slammed Goenka for his "sexist" tweet, leaving no place for him to hide.
Imagine being a blue tick verified industrialist in India and making these sexist jokes. On Twitter. In 2021. This would be seen as a major sm policy violation in my organisation. Definitely worthy of a dressing down
    — Purrkaj Caturvedi blog ️‍ (@citizenbolario) May 17, 2021You are so sexist. Women are not gold diggers. Those men are not being divorced *for money*
    — Vidya (@VidyaKrishnan) May 17, 2021This is seriously sexist. Damn seriously!!!

But Indian will be okay with it.... Bade aadmi ne bola hai aur aadat bhi hai.
    — PSB (@Puninder) May 17, 2021Jaldi se gold digger joke maaroonga, cool samjhenge log mujhe
    — Misandrist स्त्री (@not_centre) May 17, 2021Humor often reveals our true self. We end up giving away who we truly are and what is our core belief, when we share what we find worthy of making a joke.

    Such a misogynistic post @hvgoenka
    — Arfi Laamba (@arfilaamba) May 18, 2021I know it's a joke but an unfair one. It assumes women whose spouses get rich have their eyes more on alimony.
    — Kartikeya Tanna (@KartikeyaTanna) May 17, 2021Pity the mindset.... Very regressive... By the way, both the ladies are equally capable and financially independent. Everything is not about money. And divorce is always painful.. No matter how amicable it is...
    — proud indian (@happyindiandoc) May 17, 2021That’s really in a bad taste. There’s no gyaan in it, neither it’s funny.
    — simran (@simranxsays) May 17, 2021Surprisingly, his ill-timed tweet comes at a time when fresh revelations have come to light regarding Bill Gates having "inappropriate" sexual affairs during his marriage with Melinda.
Both Bezos and Gates had divorce papers served to them because they were cheating not because their wives wanted alimony.
    — "Yamrajendra Modi" Lion (@Loquacious_Lion) May 17, 2021
In Jeff Bezos' case, he initiated the divorce as he was having an affair. His wife was instrumental to him amassing that kind of wealth. Moral of the story -- women need to build their own empires and not bother with such faithless men! Also, blocking you for your vile views.
    — Radhika Mukherjee (@radhikaherself) May 18, 2021It appears Bill Gates was preying on women in his office and was also had a disturbingly close relationship with a paedophile. New York Times says the relationship with the paedophile is what bothered Melinda Gates. You don’t think those are serious issues?
    — Rohini Singh (@rohini_sgh) May 17, 2021It looked like Goenka certainly did not do his homework before coming up with the tweet and was left red-faced by Twitter users who absolutely schooled him.
    Oh! I didn’t know that.
    — Harsh Goenka (@hvgoenka) May 17, 2021
Finally, someone came up with a valuable piece of advice for the industrialist.
Take my advice.... delete this tweet.....
    — ash (@ashlesha11) May 17, 2021
Maybe, it's not too late to eat that last slice of humble pie, Harsh?

Roughly about 10 years ago, if somebody could travel forward in time to 2021, they could just record what's happening and that footage would have made for a superhit apocalyptic feature film. Seriously, as if all of us locked up because of that damn virus wasn't enough, this year it decided to have a sequel that legit has death as its agenda. As if that wasn't enough, we now have a cyclone ravaging the country. Break from misery? What's that?

    via GIPHY
Some people have it worse than the others. Luck, it seems, is the only differentiating factor. However, for some, it legit means the difference between life and death. For example, this woman in Mumbai who miraculously avoided death, from an uprooted tree that almost fell on her.

We have always said that India is not the kind of place where owning a swanky, high-end sports car is easy.
The cyclone storm Tauktae, that has been on a rampage along the western coast of India, just gave us yet another example, why.
    © BCCL
Dr Rushindra Sinha, a tech enthusiast, gamer, doctor, and a fellow petrolhead recently took to Instagram to put up some photos of his red Porsche 718 Boxster, that was was destroyed following the carnage of the cyclone storm Tauktae.

    View this post on Instagram
From the photos that Dr Sinha put up, one can see that the front bumpers and the front trunk were bashed in. From the looks of it, it seems that there is some damage to the front suspension as well.
    © Instagram/rushindrasinha
The Porsche 718 Boxster is one of Porsche’s hottest selling cars, especially in the South Asian & South-East Asian markets.

In Mumbai, it has an ex-showroom price of about Rs 90 Lakhs. By the time you pay the road tax, insurance and everything else, the on-road price shoots up to about Rs 1.13 to 1.17 Crores.
    © Instagram/rushindrasinha
Looking at the pictures, we can sort of empathise with Dr Sinha.

    © Instagram/rushindrasinha
While the car can be fixed, it certainly ain’t going to be cheap. This is assuming that the suspension and the cooling system were unharmed.

    © Instagram/rushindrasinha
Looking at the silver lining of this fiasco, Dr Rushindra put up a caption, saying, that luckily, no one was injured or hurt. From the interactions in the comments section, it also seems that he is somewhat over the situation and has to terms with it.

His followers, however, were deeply concerned about his insurance claim. Many expressed disbelief over just how bad the damage was.

The thing is, people who love cars will understand, that although this may sound somewhat materialistic, some of us tend to have an inexplicable bond with our cars.

For many of us, our cars are almost as precious to us as our babies, as people in the comments rightly pointed out.
We just hope that Dr Sinha is able to get his car repaired, or better yet, get a new one.

Amid the lockdown, we have witnessed several funny incidents that have left people chuckling.
While the current situation demands us to stay at home and only step out for essentials, some people still end up flouting COVID-19 rules, as they consider their 'cravings' to be essentials.
A perfect example of that would be a recent incident that completely swept Desi Twitter.
    © iStock
This incident happened at Chandranagar, where a middle-aged Bengali man came up with a master plan to buy sweets during the lockdown.

In the clip, we can see the man walking from a distance, wearing a yellow T-shirt. Soon after, the traffic police standing there stops him, considering the lockdown situation.
The man came closer to the cop and in a very unique way took out the sign from the back of his neck that read 'Mishti Kinte Jachi' in Bengali, which means going to buy sweets.
After this funny incident, the police allowed him to go ahead. Looks like he had his priorities sorted!

Dr. KK Agarwal, like many other tireless frontline workers across the country, was a shining beacon of light during what can be termed the darkest times in the modern history of India.
    © Twitter
The Ex-Chief of India Medical Association, who was also the recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award, had imparted invaluable covid-19 related advice to the country's helpless citizens through Instagram live sessions at a time when it felt like other doors had been slammed shut due to the overwhelmed Indian health care system.

Unfortunately, the People's doctor breathed his last on Monday (May 17) night due to Covid-19 related complications, ahead of what would have been his 63rd birthday in three months' time.
According to the official statement of his Twitter account, Dr. Aggarwal, who had taken both vaccine doses, passed away at 11.30 pm on Monday "after a lengthy battle with Covid". The President of  Confederation of Medical Association of Asia and Oceania (CMAAO) and President of the Heart Care Foundation, leaves behind his wife and two children.
According to his family, Dr. Aggarwal had been on ventilator support at New Delhi's AIIMS hospital for the past few days. Dr. Aggarwal, despite being a renowned figure in the medical world, had become a very popular figure on social media platforms like Instagram where he could be seen taking Instagram Live sessions to interact with people and educate them regarding the coronavirus and dealing with it.
    © Twitter
The people's doctor would regularly respond to individual queries on posts from people who had trouble getting consultation elsewhere and was even seen to hold an Instagram live session after he got diagnosed with the deadly virus at the end of last month.

In his absence from social media during his treatment, his official Instagram account was taken over by a team who updated the well-wishers of the doctor regarding his health and kept uploading general health and Covid-19 related information on his page.
However, scores of people who admired and looked up to him were left heartbroken when his official Twitter and Instagram accounts revealed the news of his passing away.
"Ever since he became a doctor, Padma Shri Dr KK Aggarwal has dedicated his life to the welfare of the public and raising health awareness. Even during the pandemic, he made constant efforts to educate the masses and was able to reach out to over 100 million people through numerous videos and educational programs and saved countless lives," said the statement.
