Ever since the fight for the position of the head coach of the Indian cricket team started back in 2017 with Anil Kumble’s resignation, the squad has achieved great heights under the coaching capacity of Ravi Shastri.Β
Still, the majority of the fans would not blink an eye before cheering Rahul Dravid if he decided to contest for Shastri’s role in the team even today.

However, on more than one occasion, β€˜the Wall’ has openly spoken about how he was not interested in the job and even refused to come on board despite being the frontrunner for the spot back in 2007, simply because he wanted to take care of his family.
But now, with the Indian Premier League suspended indefinitely, the Men in Blue look forward towards their next challenge - India’s tour of Sri Lanka, and the fans’ long-lost dream of watching Jammy coach Virat Kohli and Co. may finally be realised.
According to Cricbuzz - There are talks about Rahul Dravid and staffs at NCA will be in the coaching staff for Indian team in the upcoming Sri Lanka tour for 3 ODI and 3 T20.

"We have planned a white ball series for the senior men's team during the month of July where they will play T20 Internationals and ODIs in Sri Lanka," BCCI president Sourav Ganguly told PTI on Monday.
According to Cricbuzz, Dravid and his coaching staff from the National Cricket Academy might travel in Colombo with the rest of the roster for the three T20Is and three ODIs that are reportedly scheduled to take place between 13th and 27th July.
    India tour of Sri Lanka:

    1st ODI - 13th July.
    2nd ODI - 16th July.
    3rd ODI - 19th July.

    1st T20i - 22nd July.
    2nd T20i - 24th July.
    3rd T20i - 27th July.

    - Venues to be finalised later.

Now, with no information on Ravi Shastri's unavailability for the tour, it will be interesting to see how the Indian cricket team utilises Dravid’s expertise as the head of the coaching staff, who helped the U-19 Team India lift the World Cup trophy back in 2018.
Dravid was trusted with the duty of the head coach of both, the U-19 team and the India A team from 2016 to 2019 before he was appointed as the Director of Cricket Operations at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy - the primary training and rehabilitation center for our cricketers.
