Amid the tsunami of Covid-19 second wave infections that has decimated India and paralyzed its health care system to create a prolonged feeling of doom in the minds of Indian citizens, there are a few stories that still continue to give us hope.

At a time when people from all walks of life are being adversely affected by the deadly virus, with Tuesday (April 27) recording the highest single-day rise in the Covid-19 death toll, a 105-year-old man and his 95-year-old wife succeeding in beating the virus.
Suresh Chavan's entire family of five people in Maharashtra's Katgaon Tanda village had tested positive for the virus, which included his 105-year-old father, Dhenu Chavan, and 95-year-old mother, Motabai.

As Suresh was struggling to find a hospital to admit his elderly parents, he was warned by his neighbours against it, as the belief has been that any old person going to the hospital does not come back home.
However, Dhenu Chavan and Motabai, both proved everyone wrong after spending nine days in the ICU of Vilasrao Deshmukh Institute of Medical Sciences in Latur and eventually beating the virus.
Talking about the incident later, Suresh said,
“We live as a joint family. Other than my parents, the three children had tested positive too. My parents were running high temperatures and my father had a severe stomachache as well, and so I decided to admit them both to a hospital,” Suresh told The Times of India.

“My parents were very scared and so was I, but I knew that keeping them at home would be a wrong decision,” said Suresh, while speaking to TOI.
The doctor treating the elderly couple had revealed that upon admission, they had a CT (computed tomography) score of 15/25, which was a cause for concern due to the age factor.
They were provided oxygen support and given five doses of the antiviral at the hospital as their condition was monitored.
“He would always ask me if they would ever get better and would see our village again. And every day I kept telling them they will be discharged tomorrow,” said Suresh.

However, after spending a number of days in the ICU, the elderly couple beat all the odds in recovering from the virus at the age of 105 and 95.
“When they were discharged, people from across the district told me that it is his good deeds that have helped him fight the virus,” said Suresh.
The news of the extraordinary recovery garnered the reactions of social media users, who on Twitter lauded the elderly couple for winning the fight against the deadly virus.

After one year of doubts, disappointment and utter chaos surrounding the Chennai Super Kings, the three-time Indian Premier League champions seem to have gotten back to their usual spot during the season - right on top.
Chasing down a decent total of 171 runs put forward by David Warner’s SunRisers Hyderabad with nine balls and seven wickets to spare, CSK got their fifth consecutive win of the 14th edition and glided to the number one spot in the IPL Points Table to dethrone Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore.

— All Cricket Analysis (@ACAHindi) April 29, 2021 Following the match, pictures of a very particular moment began to make rounds on the internet in which Kedar Jadhav could be seen hanging out with his former franchise captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and ex-teammate Ravindra Jadeja on the field.
When you meet your ex-teammates!

— Cricket Universe (@CricUniverse) April 29, 2021
Based on the history between Jadhav and the CSK organization, seeing such pictures on social media platforms got the fans going, who tried figuring out what the conversation would have felt like, especially considered the two vividly different situations CSK and SRH are in at the moment:

— Babu Venkataraman (@BabuVenkataram1) April 29, 2021“I miss playing in yellow”
— Irfan 🇺🇸🇮🇳🇨🇦 (@IrfanFacter) April 29, 2021A key member of the Super Kings in the past, Jadhav had a disappointing final season with the Whistle Podu squad. In the five innings he batted for them during the 13th edition, he could only collate 62 runs and failed to make an impact on the game like he used to, before.
In February 2021, it was confirmed that CSK had released five players from its roster and Jadhav’s name was on top of the list.
Heading into free-agency, the all-rounder ended up keeping the highest base price of Rs. 2 crore for the mini-auction and was finally picked by the Hyderabad team for the said amount.

However, the 36-year old did stun a few of his critics when he got to the pitch on Wednesday to add a few runs to the board for his side and ended up smashing 12 runs off just 4 deliveries with one four and a six coming off his bat in quick succession.
Despite a decent start to the final, Warner’s bowling attack was unable to stop Ruturaj Gaikwad’s stormy innings in which he scored 75 off 44 deliveries to lead CSK to a five-game win streak. As a result, Hyderabad remains stuck at the bottom of the Points Table while Chennai sits on top luxuriously.

Facebook temporarily blocked posts with the hashtag #ResignModi that called for the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday.
The social media giant has now restored the hashtag after it was accused of censoring posts because it may have violated community standards.
This is what happens when you search for the hashtag #ResignModi on Facebook (at least in India). pic.twitter.com/Rzehg3meB8
— Shivam Vij (@DilliDurAst) April 28, 2021
"We temporarily blocked this hashtag by mistake, not because the Indian government asked us to,” Facebook said in a statement.
Andy Stone from Facebook communications later tweeted that the social network was "looking into what happened.”
This hashtag has been restored and we are looking into what happened.
— Andy Stone (@andymstone) April 28, 2021
When searching for the #ResignModi hashtag, users in India met with a message "Posts with #ResignModi are temporarily hidden here. Some content in those posts goes against our community standards.”
Last week, Twitter also removed several posts at the requests of the Indian Government as “Certain people are misusing social media to create panic in society,” India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had said in a statement.
Facebook, Instagram and Twitter all removed posts which they were asked to do which put a question mark on the integrity of social media companies in India.

"When we receive a valid legal request, we review it under both the Twitter Rules and local law. If the content violates Twitter's Rules, the content will be removed from the service," a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement on Sunday. "If it is determined to be illegal in a particular jurisdiction, but not in violation of the Twitter Rules, we may withhold access to the content in India only.”
It seems like the recent blockage of the hashtag was only implemented in India as Facebook users in other countries could still access posts marked with #ResignModi.

There were about 12,000 posts hidden that Facebook later restored after it scrutinised all over the world for manipulating information.
Whether Facebook blocked the hashtag by mistake or not, it sure seems like the social media giant is far from being neutral in India.
We should know more once the company clarifies as to why the hashtag was blocked in India especially since the Government of India did not request it.

It is no understatement when we say that the deadly second wave of the Covid-19 has absolutely decimated India, so much so, that all one sees across the country are cries for help, be it the search for hospital beds, medicines, and oxygen.

However, at a time when helpless citizens have been forced to battle each other for resources, there is a refreshing tale of the ultimate sacrifice.
In what was a heartwarming yet heartbreaking incident, an 85-year-old man in Nagpur gave away his reserved bed in the hospital to a younger patient in order to save his life.
According to reports, Narayanrao Dabhalkar had been suffering from the Coronavirus after which his daughter did everything possible to arrange a hospital bed for him at the Indira Gandhi Hospital in the city.

The elder man was rushed to the hospital after his oxygen levels dropped down significantly, leaving him struggling to breathe at the time of admission.
However, he saw a woman crying and begging the hospital staff to find a bed for her ailing 40-year-old husband right outside the hospital window.
Despite dipping oxygen levels, Narayan Dabhalkar went against the medical advice of his doctors and opted for a discharge after he saw a woman pleading to get her 40-year-old husband admitted to the hospital.

Upon seeing her desperation, the 85-year-old opted for a discharge to give away his bed to the man.
Despite his daughter and son-in-law convincing him to not go ahead with the decision, Narayan stood firm and even went against the medical advice of the doctors to save the man's life.
According to reports, Narayan said to the doctors,
“I am 85. I have lived my life. Saving the life of a young man is more important. Their children are young...please give my bed to them.”

Later, he went ahead with signing the consent form, and upon being brought back home from the hospital, passed away three days later.
The heartbreaking story of kindness and humanity in these dark, dark times led to many people across the country paying tribute to the kind-hearted soul.
Remember his name. His name is Narayan Dabhadkar. Won’t make it to TIME magazine cover !!
“He is the 85 year old man who gave away his reserved hospital bed to a younger man stating he has lived his life ”
He quietly went home and passed away later.
