In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic throughout the country resulting in an unprecedented loss of human lives, mainly on account of the shortage of oxygen, everyone is clearly beyond concerned.
As a motivated community of founders who are concerned and wanted to do something for the nation, “Mission Oxygen” via Ketto, came to life this month.
It is a crowdsourcing fundraiser platform, whose initial goal was to raise about Rs 2.5 Cr to source 500 Oxygen Concentrators (OCs) from China and elsewhere that could be donated quickly to needy hospitals and nursing centres and help save many lives in India.
© Ketto
Since last Friday night, however, the group has received an overwhelming global response and has raised almost Rs 9.5 Crores (about 4 times from its initial goal).
This money was raised with the support of 10,000 individual donors who clearly want to do something to help India come out of this massive crisis.
As the fundraiser progressed, the group sprung into action to secure the supply and carry out quality due diligence of vendors.
In the process, they managed to procure a supply of 1,300 OCs, and have also worked round the clock to successfully arrange logistics working together with partners like Spicejet, DHL, Flexiport and Delhivery.
© Ketto
The first shipment of ~500 will hopefully start arriving by this week and the remaining 800 will arrive by next week.
The group has also donated an Oxygen Generation plant which will be setup on Deen Dayal Upadhaya Hospital.
It comes as no surprise that the group has also received a letter of appreciation from the Government of India for its efforts during this crisis
© Ketto
This will be the first Oxygen Generation plant which will be set up by the Delhi Government during this time.
In parallel, now the group has been able to also aggregate demand and has a team of volunteers fully dedicated to allocating these OCs to the needy hospitals and nursing homes.
Having said the above, the work right now is far from over, as the actual requirement for the Oxygen Concentrators is going to only increase as there is a dire need across India. And this wave will only shift from one town to another.
© Ketto
As per an estimate, the total requirement for Oxygen Concentrators pan India could be more than 150,000.
Given this dire need across the country, and having worked out all aspects, the group has the confidence to be able to further scale this effort and really support the country.
You can do your bit in helping the platform as well, as it will go a long way in ensuring the nation is able to tide over this crisis and help the healthcare infrastructure to save precious lives.

Believe it or not, but Aamir Khan does make mistakes in his films and costumes and is not exactly the perfectionist that we make him out to be.
© Twitter/AamirKFANs
Make no mistake about it, there is no other filmmaker like Aamir Khan. As far as Hindi cinema is concerned, he is without a doubt, one of the best we have ever had. All the aspects of his films, starting with the dialogues to the visuals, everything is usually spot on. That is why he has rightfully earned the moniker of Mr Perfectionist.
© Viacom18 Studios
However, when it comes to costumes, there have been a number of instances, where he was far from being perfect. Wondering what mistakes he made?
Well, here are a few costume-related errors that we have seen Aamir make over the years.
Not Altering His Suit © Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
The most important aspect of a suit is its fitting. Get that wrong, and no matter how much you try to salvage it and make it look good, you simply can’t. For Andaz Apna Apna, Salman & Aamir wore identical suits. While Salman’s baggy suit was just perfect for him, and fit him well, it looked like Aamir wore a suit that was fitted according to Salman - it was extremely loose and ill-fitting.
A Bowler Hat & A Velvet Nehru Jacket © Yash Raj Films
Bowler hats are extremely hard to pull off, and sorry, but Aamir Khan doesn’t look that good in a Bowler hat, in Dhoom 3 especially because of his built. More than anything else, it looks like a very funny prop. Also, a Nehru Jacket that is made from a velvety fabric? No, thanks!
Mocking Body Hair © UTV Motion Pictures
I agree that Delhi Belly released in the early 2010s and that most of us weren’t as woke and sensitive to body image issues back then, but seriously, mocking someone’s body hair for a spoof music video? Not cool.
A New York Thug-Aesthetic In Mumbai © Vishesh Films
In Ghulam, Aamir plays the role of a Mumbaikar Tapori, and a boxer. Why, then, is he dressed like a thug from the sets of Rumble In The Bronx? The rings, the jeans, the leather boots, the leather gloves, the cap - all of these look like they were taken off a thug in New York. Compare this outfit with the one he wore in Rangeela, and you’ll get what we’re talking about.
Overdoing His “D-Bag” Aesthetic © Zee Studios
We get that Aamir was going for a douche-bag and a very arrogant character in Secret Superstar, but he just went overboard with things. His T-shirts especially were tear-inducing. On top of that, his beard and hairstyle were just weird.
Stove Pipe Or Top Hats In 1790s India © Yash Raj Films
Thugs Of Hindostan is a film that will haunt Aamir Khan forever. The film was poorly executed, and just badly made. Let’s not even get started with the disguises, which were comically bad. Even the basic costumes, especially that of Aamir were poorly conceived. It genuinely looks like they were going for a Jack Sparrow inspired thing, and then abandoned it midway. The only good thing about his get-up is his handlebar moustache, and how he grew it. Also, stove-pipe hats were not popular in India, especially more so during the early years of British Rule.

With hospital beds, oxygen, plasma, medicines, and vaccines hard to come by amidst the deadly Covid-19 second wave in the country, Indian author Chetan Bhagat has seemingly shown his disapproval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's failure to import foreign vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna.
© Reuters
In a series of tweets, the 47-year-old Five Point Someone writer questioned the PM Modi-led centre's decision not to avail the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines amid the shortage of vaccines within the country itself.
"The Pfizer vaccine, one of the best ones, used in most developed countries, applied for permission in India in Dec-2020. India instead asked them to do more studies here. Pfizer withdrew its application on Feb-21. Imagine lives saved if we allowed the vaccine from December itself." said Bhagat.

— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) April 28, 2021
While PM Modi has launched the audacious plan of extending the offering of the Covaxin and Covishield vaccines to people falling under the age of bracket of 18-45, as per reports, experts have warned that the current shortage of vaccines within the nation may end up disrupting all plans of immunization.
© Reuters
And, according to Bhagat, the government instead of relying just on homemade vaccines, should have imported Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which have been out since December of last year.
"Pfizer and Moderna are the best vaccines. They have been out since Dec-2020. Why don't we have them in India yet? Do we not deserve the best? Don't we buy defense equipment from abroad? Is this not a war-like situation? Why does the vaccine have to be made here and only here?" Tweeted Bhagat.

— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) April 28, 2021
However, soon after his tweets viral on the internet, some social media users used brought down some facts of the matter in order to school him back to earth.
One correction - Pfizer wanted India to sign an indemnity which means if something serious side effect happened , they won't be liable. So India suggested a bridging trial which is at the right thing to PLUS Pfizer vaccine would have been expensive , too difficult to store
— Shouvik S Mazumdar (@shouvikme) April 28, 2021Dates are right Chetan. But some facts are missing.
Pfizer did not have or submit any plan to Generate safety & Immunogenicity data in Indian Population. That was the reason they were not recommended and subsequently application was withdrawn. pic.twitter.com/HBMpyubphp
— T VENKATESH (@TTvenkatesh1968) April 28, 2021https://t.co/7GJ7oH7SDH wanted India to sign a clause exempting it from any side effect related issue .
2.They were not ready for a mandatory bridge study. https://t.co/GagScnD6v9 temp is unmanageable.
4.Cost was 3 time’s higher.
Big man ; Small talks
— T VENKATESH (@TTvenkatesh1968) April 28, 2021If a vaccine is safe on US people it does not mean it'll be safe on Indians as well. That's why bridge trials are required which Pfizer refused despite various serious side effects noted in post marketing.
— INDIAN (@vistw) April 28, 2021How do you know the result of pfizer without performing any study in Asians or Indians? All Vaccines have undergone due regulatory process. Why do want exception for Pfizer?
You guys had so much problem when covaxin was released in final trial stage but no problem with this ? pic.twitter.com/rcDc1UTutV
— Lilly (Bengali Didi) (@Miss_exliberal) April 28, 2021Pfizer vaccine may be one of the best, but what is wrong in India asking them to do more studies here b4 processing with giving permission? Making vaccines may not be like "one size fits all". However, we have our own manufacturers who are doing a good job&let's encourage them.
— Raju (@nbrengaraju) April 28, 2021If you had an atom of common sense you would have comprehended our Govt's concerns: Pfizer vaccine needs to undergo trials on Asians,Indians
But then you perhaps consider yourself an American

At a time when the deadly second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc in India and created a sense of fear and gloom in the hearts of the citizens all over again, there lies a positive story that is bound to inspire some people and create a glimmer of hope within them.
© Reuters
While the mutated strain of the now "airborne" virus has affected everyone from the elderly to the children, leading to hospitalizations of so many across the country, an 82-year-old woman has succeeded in beating the virus all on her own.
According to reports, Vidya Devi, a resident of Alinagar in Gorakhpur has managed to bring up her oxygen levels without the need for an oxygen cylinder, just by lying in the prone position.
© dtnext
The Proning technique, which involves lying on the chest and stomach, has been advised by experts to patients to help the body get air into all areas of the lungs.
Vidya Srivastava had tested positive for the virus earlier this month.
While her elder son Vijay continued to monitor her health at home, one day her oxygen levels dipped suddenly.
"Her elder son, Hari Mohan Srivastava, said, “My mother tested positive and we kept her in-home isolation. One day her oxygen levels dipped to 79 and everyone in the family was worried." said Hari Mohan.
He said that despite being scared and without an oxygen cylinder, his family made her lie down in the prone position after which she got better.
"We did not give up and made her lie down in the prone position with her stomach down towards the bed. Gradually, the situation improved and the oxygen level rose to 94 within four days,” said Hari Mohan.
It did not take long for the entire family to be infected with the virus, however, according to Hari Mohan, it was the positive frame of mind of everyone in the family that made Vidya and everyone else recover from the virus.
After hearing the news of Vidya and her family's recovery, social media users shared their take on the happy news on Twitter.
Congrats. Mom. I hoped Mother India must rescue by God from this pandemic. You are the inspiration to the nation as a whole..God bless you...

There is a reason why people who have sincerely followed Indian Cinema love Kabir Bedi. Apart from being an immensely talented actor, he is also a gem of a man.
© IMDb
The veteran actor recently uploaded a video on Instagram, laying down some basic ways that using which people can fight COVID-19.
View this post on Instagram
Although the video shares some tips that should be pretty common knowledge or a thing of common sense by now, the sad reality is, that for a few people, it isn’t.
For example, his daughter, Pooja Bedi, put up a video from Goa a few weeks back. When accused of showing off her privilege at a time when several people are facing death and severe health issues, she clamped down by saying that living with masks is akin to being caged, and that she wasn’t showing off her privilege, but merely “enjoying her freedom.”
Joys of living in healthy, happy #goa .
Free your mind #NoFear
Life is meant to be lived... not spent caged and masked for a year/ years in fear of a virus that's clearly not going away!
If you died tomorrow after year of masking/lockdown.. what would ur greatest regret be? pic.twitter.com/ydXG5OGsou
— Pooja Bedi (@poojabeditweets) April 14, 2021
To make matters worse, Pooja, when confronted with the fact that there are several areas of the country where lockdowns and curfews have been imposed, stated that Goa isn’t one of those places with the lockdown.
© Twitter/poojabeditweets
Furthermore, when someone suggested that she should be facing charges for enticing people to break covid protocols, she flippantly responded, saying - “It's obvious no one will wear a mask while eating, drinking (in an aeroplane, restaurants, or in public places) or while taking a picture/ video.” She also asked the man if all the politicians pictured without masks at public events should be arrested: “Politicians across the country have been seen posing without masks at functions. Will you arrest them too?”
Several actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shruti Hasan, and Amit Sadh have stated that showing off one’s vacation pictures, or “freedom” as Ms Bedi would have put it, reeks of privilege and insensitivity.
© IMDb
Coming back to Kabir Bedi’s video, he puts up some very basic, but effective ways that one can fight and survive against COVID-19. These include wearing a good mask that actually offers some protection, washing your hands regularly especially if you have to step out for some reason, getting vaccinated in a timely manner, and most importantly, educate non-masked people.
We hope people and celebrities, who are busy “enjoying their freedom” do take note of this, and follow it religiously.

A senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in Tripura has landed in hot water after a video of him went viral for all the wrong reasons.
West Tripura District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar Yadav could be seen in the video pulling and pushing people around rather violently for breaking anti-Covid rules, including the curfew.
In the clip, Yadav can be seen entering two wedding halls in Agartala, and asking people to immediately leave.
Shame. This is not the way Mr DM. Your arrogance is a sign of ego. You need to be firm but polite pic.twitter.com/o6aHChTqvL
— Supriya Sahu IAS (@supriyasahuias) April 28, 2021
He was also seen holding other guests by their necks and even pushing the groom and his relatives.
In order to contain the recent surge in Covid cases, the Tripura administration announced a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am, and also limited the number of guests for gatherings to 100.
According to reports, around 31 people including 19 women were detained, as the wedding functions had been going on even after 10 pm, which was in violation of the curfew.
© Pexels
"All these people are highly educated but they do not follow the norms amid the alarming rise in coronavirus cases. These people on the other hand would accuse the government of doing nothing. I also suggest suspending the officer-in-charge of the West Agartala police station," the officer could be heard saying in the video.
However, as soon as the video went viral, the officer was criticized for his unprofessional and violent behaviour, and a chorus grew on Twitter for him to apologise.
“If anyone got hurt due to my action, I am apologizing for that. I have done this for the larger interest of society and the people. I have taken the strict action to give a message to the people to maintain the government SOP,” Yadav said, according to News18.
There were mixed reactions to this viral clip with people debating if what the DM did was necessary or excessive:
Both the things are wrong, people need to understand the curfew is for their safety not for anyone else, they should abide the rules
And Misuse of power by DM is also inappropriate but if he don't get strict people will not take it seriously
— iam_Anurag🇮🇳 (@coolanurag1407) April 28, 2021Such arrogance of officials is trademark of banana republics.
— Amit Choudhary (@AMITCHOUDHARY23) April 28, 2021The brave DM has done nothing wrong! He did hia duty when police was completely hand in glove with the law breakers!
— Ashok Menon🇮🇳 (@ashokmenon07) April 28, 2021Should be suspended and charged under harrasment case, slapped a priest without any provocation or retaliation ,went inside the room where ladies are changing their clothes, use abusive language
— Brijendra arjaria (@Brijendraarjar) April 28, 2021He has done nothing wrong. His actions were harsh not intention. His concern in larger interest of society is worth appreciation. The marriage party seems to have political clout seeing the ambience. Any action against DM will embolden the violaters.
— Sangeeta Manoli (@SangeetaManoli1) April 28, 2021Let us know in the comments if you think the DM crossed the line or if he was well within his rights to treat the guests in such a manner.
