  1. What do visitors see when they visit your online community? And when was the last time you logged out to browse like a visitor? Check out these 4x4 tips of four items in less than four minutes for the visitor experience: Check your Registration Process, especially any social sign-ins. You may want to increase or reduce security checks. You may need to fix social logins. And you may want to offer an easier onboarding like Quick Registration + Profile Completion. Read your Guest Sign-up Widget. This is the most important text in your entire community, since it's the first message visitors will read. Is your Guest Signup Widget giving visitors the first impression you'd like, with proper keywords and messaging? Audit your Visitor Permissions. In the ACP, go to Groups > Guests > Permissions. Do your guests have access to the right boards and categories? Test on other browsers and devices. Most of us don't have ten different computers and smartphones running different OS's and browsers, so it can be hard to check the UIX. Luckily, there are free cross-browser tools like BrowserShots.org or Device Mode on Chrome Devtools that can help. Hope you enjoy these tips, and if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments below.
  2. India versus Pakistan is one of the most talked about things about the ICC World Cup 2019. Based on the age-old rivalry between the two cricketing titans, people were hoping for a great match at Old Trafford, Manchester today and boy did the Indian batting order stay true to those expectations. Opening the Indian batting innings, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul did exceedingly well in scoring more than 100 runs and gave the Men in Blue a great start. Once Sharma was dismissed off a catch at the hands of Hasan Ali after scoring his fastest ODI ton (85 balls), it was time for the Indian skipper Virat Kohli to take over. Often regarded as one of the finest batsmen of the modern era, Kohli took over alright. During his innings against Sarfaraz Ahmed's men, the Delhi born was also able to score his 11,000th run, which made him the fastest cricketer in the world to reach that number (222 innings) in 54 fewer innings than Sachin Tendulkar, who previously held that record. #ViratKohli scores his 11,000th ODI run! He reaches the landmark in 54 fewer innings than anyone else ð pic.twitter.com/mebDOLJESs — Cricket World Cup (@cricketworldcup) June 16, 2019 However, the end to his record-breaking innings was probably one of the most bizarre ones. Short of 23 runs of scoring a century, the Indian captain declared himself out off a bouncer by Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir as he believed that the ball edged his bat and went into the hands of the wicket-keeper. The gesture of simply walking away, without even waiting for the umpire to give out the final decision does seem like good sportsman spirit. The only thing that was wrong in the whole episode was the fact that KOHLI WAS NOT OUT. Kohli gave away his wicket even when he wasn't out , nothing much just a gift from the father on father's day ð #KingKohli #FathersDay#IndiaVsPakistan pic.twitter.com/2NPGNGltwu — Prashant Kumar (@IamPrashantPk) June 16, 2019 That's right. Kohli walked away when he was not out and you can't blame the umpire, Bruce Oxenford, as he did not give declare him out. Later during the match, Kohli was seen in the dressing room with the bat in his hand. Judging by the looks of it, Kohli and MS Dhoni were testing the rigidity of the bat. Shaking and thumping the bat against a couch, the two cricketers might have found a small crack between the handle and the body of the bat which could have made a sound which might have led Kohli to believe that the ball touched the bat. Of course, this is a conjecture and no official statement has come from the cricketer or the team. Nonetheless, Kohli's fans were heartbroken: @Atheist_Krishna Kohli gave away his wicket even when he wasn't out , nothing much just a gift from the father on father's day ðð Akhir Baap Baap Hota Haið¤£ð#IndiaVsPakistan — Ritik chaturvedi (@ritikcha2rvedi) June 16, 2019 Virat Kohli walked off thinking he has nicked but reply suggests that he was not out...#CWC19 — #CWCUP2019 (@FaST_CricBuzz) June 16, 2019 Kohli introduced a new way of getting out - Voluntary Out — Bhavin mehta (@Bhavin25996297) June 16, 2019 Wasn't even a wicket. 3. Apple announced a bunch of new features that will be coming to iOS 13. However, not many were detailed at WWDC 2019. The next major update for iOS is expected to roll out when the new iPhone is announced and a public beta will roll out sometime in July. There will be many new features and performance upgrades that you should be taking advantage of. Here are some of the reasons why you should upgrade to iOS 13 when it is made available. It Will Make The iPhone Faster Apple Every year Apple wants to bring updates that are beneficial to iOS devices and the majority of it has to do with making iPhones faster. It was the first thing Apple mentioned at WWDC's presentation and the company is expected to make huge leaps. Apple claims that iOS 13 will make the Face ID unlock speed faster than ever before; in fact, it will be 30 percent faster. The company also mentioned that App launch speeds will also be boosted considerably. When it comes to App downloads, iOS 13 will reduce the size of the apps by half and updates will also be smaller by 60 percent. Streaming Music To Two AirPods Apple Ever wanted to share music with your friends but you couldn't since the iPhone no longer supports a headphone jack? With iOS 13 you will now be able to send music to two separate AirPods at the same time. This will enable users to enjoy music or a movie together without having the need of sharing AirPods. Bluetooth has traditionally only allowed a single connection to earphones or an audio device. However, this new feature will change the way we share music with friends. Privacy Above All Else Apple Apple has always been upholding Privacy as one of the most important features of any of their products. The company has consistently attacked Google, Facebook and other businesses that target users and track their activity. Apple has now introduced a “Sign In With Apple” feature that basically blocks apps from tracking sensitive information. It gives users the power to allow apps to access location data, information and other personal data. Apple has also taken necessary steps to inform users which apps are tracking them in the background without their permission or knowledge. “Sign In With Apple” will also substitute your email address with a random email forwarding address so that you are not bothered with marketing emails and spam. This will let users not reveal their true email addresses and can disable the random email address from receiving communication whenever they want to. Find Apple Devices Even When Offline We often forget our iPhone, MacBook, iPads and AirPods in cafes or other public spots on busy days. Earlier, we could use the Find My iPhone app to locate our devices; however, it had to be connected to a network. With iOS 13, the Find My app will now be able to locate a lost or stolen device even when it is not connected to an internet connection. Apple Basically, an Apple device that is lost will basically ping other nearby Apple devices to detect its location. The information will be relayed back to Apple's servers securely and then will be transmitted to your Find My app. It will basically use Bluetooth to communicate with other Apple devices and all the information from your lost device will remain private and secure. Better Battery Life Macrumours iOS 13 will also come with a new feature that will extend your iPhone's battery life and health. It's called the "Optimized Battery Charging" feature that will basically learn from your usage habits for more effective and balanced charging. For example, if you charge your smartphone at night while sleeping, this feature will charge your iPhone to 80% and then wait an hour or so before you wake up to charge it up to 100%. This basically keeps your iPhone charged at optimum capacity and then charge the remaining capacity when you actually need it. Dark Mode FTW Apple Apple finally heard the fans and is bringing a Dark Mode feature as a part of the iOS 13 update. Dark Mode has a few advantages such as putting less strain on your eyes, look pretty and also help in conserving battery life. However, the Dark Mode will be most effective on devices that use OLED displays i.e the iPhone XS, XS Max and X. OLED displays are the best for displaying deep black colours as there isn't much grey light leakage. Dark Mode will be applicable to everything from the lock screen, notifications and the overall UI. Users will be able to fire up the mode from the Control Center and even set it up according to the local sunrise and sunset schedule. Dark Mode will automatically activate when it is evening and revert to the brighter interface during the day.
  4. With the ICC World Cup 2019 beginning today, the captains of every cricket team that qualified for the quadrennial tournament visited Buckingham Palace to share a moment or two with Queen Elizabeth of the Royal Family of England. According to the images published by the official Twitter accounts of the Royal Family and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and some other international cricket boards, the gathering surely felt like a celebration of the game that originated on English soil and the fact that the game's biggest contest in the world is happening at home, itself. Queen Elizabeth and grandson Prince Harry took out some time to individually meet and greet every skipper, all of whom stood in a line, dressed in their cricket board's official uniform to have an interaction with the royalties. The tournament will feature the world's top ten teams, nine of whom are from the Commonwealth: Australia ð¦ðº, Bangladesh ð§ð©, England ð´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿, India ð®ð³, New Zealandð³ð¿, Pakistanðµð°, South Africa ð¿ð¦, Sri Lankað±ð° and the West Indies ð§ð¸ ð§ð§ ð¨ðº ð¯ð² ðð¹ ð©ð² ðµð· ð¬ð¾ ð¸ð· ð¹ð¹. pic.twitter.com/zVVAxlkvtv — The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) May 29, 2019 Picture perfect ð¸#WeHaveWeWill #CWC19 #SarfarazAhmed pic.twitter.com/YuLCvR9ek6 — Pakistan Cricket (@TheRealPCB) May 29, 2019 The skipper meets Her Majesty The Queen and the Duke of Sussex at Buckingham Palaceð#MenInMaroon #ItsOurGame pic.twitter.com/qRzWVh4X0R — Windies Cricket (@windiescricket) May 29, 2019 However, when it came to the Indian cricket team's captain, Virat Kohli to come forward to meet the Queen and the Prince, the Indian cricket fans had a different concern altogether. After the original video coming out about a month ago, the official YouTube channel of Star Sports uploaded yet another video, a sequel to the previous one, but this time with former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni doing some really good acting that led us to believe that Mahi might just a better actor than more than half of Bollywood.
  5. Almost a week down, and yet the only thing that the tech community is talking about are the new releases by OnePlus - the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus7 Pro. While both the flagship smartphones stand as tall winners in the ultra premium segment, can we take a moment here to appreciate how the brand has set a mark in its own way, when it comes to mega launches and clever marketing strategies. Think about it - from creating curiosity and conversation on social media around the new launches to organising pop-ups around the world, this brand really knows how to make a loyal customer base for itself. This time around, the Chinese smartphone maker went all out with their global launch, and may we say what a stupendous success it really was. This was their biggest product launch that managed to create global hype that we haven't seen in the longest time. Here are 5 things from the launch you need to know about: 1. What A Turnout! 6. The day is finally here. The day of the final judgement, if you will, that is going to decide the fate of our beloved country for the next five years. Most national news channels have been up and running since 6 AM this morning, throwing out data and figures our way, from the recently concluded rounds of polling. © Twitter Now, as we gradually move towards the final rounds of counting, we have all these journalists and analysts charting the winning and losing trends for parties and candidates. As we write this, NDA seems to be inching closer towards the halfway mark in the Lok Sabha polls. However, it must also be kept in mind that initial trends have undergone changes, and the final result has turned out to be different. © Reuters Now, while the counting (and recounting) is going to go on for a while, we would like to trace our steps back a bit and recount the results of the exit polls that also hinted towards a NDA clean sweep in the Lok Sabha polls. While opposition and other regional parties maintained that the exit poll results were inconsequential, people felt they knew better than to believe them. However, there have been a few times when the exit polls and the actual results turned out to be completely different. Could that be the case this time? Read about these 5 incidents here. 1. Lok Sabha Elections 2004 © Getty Images During this time, BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee had dissolved the parliament early after winning three back-to-back state elections. The party hoped to win the re-election. Exit polls in that year suggested NDA would win with majority of 240-250 seats, but the final results saw them secure only 187 seats. 2. Lok Sabha Elections 2014 © Reuters The last Lok Sabha elections in the country showed a new inclination towards a NDA led government. Now, while the exit polls suggested that BJP might end up winning, nobody predicted that it would be a clean sweep for the Modi-led government. 3. Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 © Reuters The re-election held in 2015 for the Bihar assembly made it difficult to paint a clear picture of the winning party. No clear winners were declared and people almost thought a coalition or mixed-bag government was on the cards. Finally, RJD-JDU-Congress alliance took the trophy. 4. Delhi Assembly Elections 2015 © Reuters This became a national news and for obvious reasons. No one had seen a new party swipe out the stronghold of a national party such as Congress. Exit polls could never predict that Congress would end up losing every single vote to AAP. 5. UP Assembly Elections 2017 © Reuters During the UP assembly elections in 2017, the ruling Samajwadi Party formed an alliance with Congress, in the hopes of quashing BJP. Also, the exit polls predicted BJP will lose a lot of votes due to demonetisation. However, BJP ended up forming the government with a majority win. © Reuters While the counting of votes is still on-going for the Lok Sabha elections 2019, and in all honesty that trend seems to be veering towards an NDA-led government, what do you feel would be the final verdict? Will NDA win with a majority, will UPA bite the dust once again, or do you have other expectations? Let us know below.
  7. There were a lot of things that went south in the final few episodes of HBO's hit television show, 'Game of Thrones'. Unfinished subplots, loopholes in storytelling and some of the most anticlimactic endings for major characters of the show such as the Night King, Lord Varys and yes, the Mother of Dragons herself. Daenerys Targaryen's descent into insecurity and madness, following the loss of her closest friend Missandei and the constant threat of being overthrown by Jon Snow aka Aegon Targaryen, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, even though not depicted in the right manner, did seem inevitable. So, when the writers of the show, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss gave Emilia Clarke, the actress who played the role of Khaleesi, the script about her character's eventual fate, she took her sweet time to make peace with it. via GIPHY In an interview with The New Yorker, Clarke opens up about Daenerys' journey to King's Landing in Season 8 of the show in detail. Here is an excerpt: “I read these scripts coming on to two years ago now. When I did, I took a very long walk around London in a daze, not quite knowing how to digest the news. Now, finally, people are going, 'Oh, now we understand why this season hit you hard.' I had no idea what to expect for this last season. I hoped for some juicy things to get into, as I always do for each season, but I didn't see this coming." "And, I must admit, I was sitting tentatively on that chair thinking, How long is this going to last? Everyone was saying, “Isn't she great? She's our saviour, Mhysa.” It's been beautiful and amazing, but I've been looking over my shoulder the entire time while everyone else gets a more human—for want of a better word—storyline. They do good things. They do bad things. They do silly things. They do brilliant things. They fall in love. They break hearts. Daenerys has quite consistently had this road to salvation, and she's been sitting atop a very safe mountain.” via GIPHY Talking about how eventful the last two seasons had been for Dany, Clarke gives an insight into what the Targaryen was thinking about: “Every time I was faced with Daenerys having to do something pretty cold, like a mass killing, it was always with this thought that she's headed toward her destiny. She's gone too far to turn back now. So then, she finally falls in love with someone who is her age, someone appropriate, who seems to love her back, who seems to be a good guy. The fact that she's his aunt is just kind of by the by! And then, it seems almost too good to be true. Even when she finally gets to relax for the first time, she's thinking, "My God, I can have it all. I can have my love. I can have my career. I can have the prospect of a family. I can have it all... But no! I fucking can't.” via GIPHY This is where Dany's insecurities had taken over. Watching a best friend get beheaded like that could certainly reduce anyone to that horrific state of mind. “She encounters the dark side of that. She's not wanted. She's not loved completely there. And so she gives herself to Jon [Snow] entirely, and she gives him many, many choices, many options to see clearly with open eyes. And she's asking him, 'If you wanted to be with me, then let me fulfill this... I know I can be a good leader, so let's do this together. Let's do it.' And he doesn't. And that disappointment is the final thing that breaks her as a human being, because, my God, all she's known is pain, sacrifice, and abuse. All she's known is people turning on her, people betraying her, and she's completely alone. And so, with all of that, I think that it brings us to the moment where she's on top of the dragon and making that choice.” via GIPHY Having read the script more than 18 months since the final episode aired, the task of keeping quiet about the ending was not an easy one. And when it got really frustrating, almost two months ago, she unintentionally gave away the secret to her real-life best friend, Lola, who did not watch the show. “My best girlfriend, Lola, doesn't watch the show. It's not her cup of tea. But she's been around me enough listening to snippets of conversations with everyone, from the driver to a friend at work. And she came up to me about two and a half months ago and said, 'She goes bad, doesn't she?' And it all came pouring of me: 'Oh, my God! I've been wanting to tell someone for so long!' And she was, like, 'I knew it! I knew it!' Even though the way things ended for the infamous Mad Queen, being stabbed in the heart by someone she truly loved, we hope to remember her, not for burning innocent citizens of the royal capital to a crisp but for her emotional journey first as the Khaleesi, to the Mother of Dragons to the liberator of the unsullied. That's Queen Daenerys Targaryen for you, that's the true “Protector of the Realm”. via GIPHY
  8. Have you ever wondered how sparkling wine is brewed? Or how Rosé could be different from Red Wine? Ever thought about what it's like to go to wine tastings and experience different wines, fresh from the barrels? How long do you reckon would it take to get drunk on these little sips of wine that you keep taking every 5 minutes? I got to experience exactly that last week. © MensXP/Simran Arora Grover Zampa Vineyards unveiled a new centre for wine tastings and sales at their winery in Bangalore last week, and I got to visit them and experience wine tasting for the first time. © MensXP/Simran Arora From my experience, the tour was very different from how I had imagined it. I mean, I had pictured the tasting bit right, but not the endless but breathtaking vineyards or the ginormous stainless steel barrels that take up most of the space, of what would normally be an average seating hall with the height of two floors. © MensXP/Simran Arora And barrels that give the aesthetics of vintage films I'd seen growing up. © MensXP/Simran Arora There were also enormous sorting machines and crushing machines imported from countries like Germany, promising maximum efficiency in the initial stages of berry sorting and crushing, all the factors that are necessary for the production of good wine. © MensXP/Simran Arora The tour guide informed us that the harvesting time is crucial in determining the kind of wine it'll produce. For example, berries picked from old vines that aren't ripe yet, make for the most premium of vines if aged properly, while the ripest of berries make for a good dessert wine batch. © MensXP/Simran Arora A dessert wine is a kind of sweet wine usually paired with desserts, but a good sommelier ( a wine waiter/steward) will tell you that the high sugar content in a dessert wine comes from the ripe berries and can sometimes go up to 133 grams per litre, which as a number can be intimidating and I agree. However, at the right temperature in Summer evenings, it could be a refreshing sip and also a wonderful choice to get initiated with, if you want to start exploring wines because it's easy to get adjusted to it and even enjoy the drink. © MensXP/Simran Arora In a masterclass with Sonal Holland, she pressed on the importance of pairing dessert wines with anything and everything that isn't sweet because the dessert wine, in all its glory, has been quite underestimated. The Vendanges Tardives (my favourite amongst the lot) a new launch of Grover Zampa Vineyards, is a sweet wine. There is a long-standing analogy of the similar taste notes of dessert wines and gulab jamun, but unlike gulab jamun, the Vendanges Tardives doesn't stay put on the palate and it clears itself, as Sonal Holland notably pointed out. The dry wines take an experienced palate to appreciate, and while you may brush this off quickly, because I too consume wine occasionally and feel I know it all, a brand of wine like La Reserve Royale Brut, which is fermented in barrels and aged for more than 30 months at a go and has intricate notes of lemon zest, flowers, fresh hazelnuts and brioche, can only be dissected to the T by an experienced connoisseur. On the palate, the wine is elegant and you can see tiny persistent bubbles when you swirl it in your glass, something that Sonal Holland made us notice. In all honesty, after learning the minute details, I started to put more emphasis on my sips. But here's how I learned to sniff wine: you near the cup to your nose and sniff with the utmost concentration and then finally take a tiny sip that has to be gargled and taken in. The interesting part is that you can even sniff wine through its cork. Checking things like acidity also has a similar process of swirling it around the glass and gargling but also has the addition of leaning forward and checking for a tingling sensation at the back of your throat which signifies acidity. And here's an interesting thing I learnt from Sonal Holland's masterclass: acidity to white wine is like cheese to pizza. A fellow Sommelier, Kriti Malhotra talked about how in the workshops that she conducts, she likes to take her attendees to a world of familiarity to explore the unfamiliar notes of the wine. For example, she said, "a wine high on MLF, also known as a malolactic conversion, would have an aroma akin to your mother boiling milk in the kitchen". It would also have a "buttery taste" which on careful observation of more than three sips, I could sense and very excitedly confirmed that it did, in fact, have a milky tinge to it. Similarly, notes of citrus are sometimes mingled with vanilla and the barrel of wine it is aged in, in this wine's case, it was Oakwood. Finally, we were made to taste the Grover Zampa's most premium label 'Insignia', which is fermented in French oak barrels for 24 months which is equivalent to the ageing of average champagne production, this intensifies the richness of Shiraz grapes from a single vineyard. Insignia is a dry wine that leaves a trail of fruit-berries, coffee and chocolate, with a hint of black pepper that blends into a smooth finish. A wine like that is made to be aged even after being bought and needs someone well-initiated to appreciate its nuances, which is probably why I think if I would've had a developed palate like the connoisseurs around me, I would've learned to appreciate it better. And that's the thing about wine in general, while it's not everyone's cup of tea, I've learned that in order to enjoy a good glass of wine, you need it to be at the right temperature, you need an experienced palate and a couple of swirls before taking a sip. And those are exactly all the things I'm beginning to enjoy after this illuminating experience.
  9. Being a parent, who brings about gender-neutrality when their child is growing up, is a very essential part of their upbringing. What is gender-neutrality when it comes to raising kids today? It's when parents raise their kids in an environment which does not force any preconceived gender norms upon them to adhere to. While you may think gender norms are subjective and some are more stereotyped than the others, the ardent belief that men should be raised a particular way, which distinguishes them for being men in the first place, is what's problematic in society. (c)Pintrest Today, there is a need for mothers and fathers to raise their children in a gender-neutral environment where discouraging them to pick up a few activities just because it doesn't fit a particular gender role should be overlooked and processed differently. It's problematic to feed men with the notion that it's not okay to be emotional or too sensitive or tell women their place is in the kitchen or as homemakers. It's a choice that both the parents have to give their children to make and follow, respectively. (c)Pintrest Most men today are raised by their mothers because it's a basic bond and any mother who's raising a child knows how to do it best. Mothers are leaning towards gender-neutral parenting and this Mother's Day, we gathered 5 men who spoke about gender-neutral things their mothers taught them, while they were growing up: (1) It's Absolutely Okay To Show Emotions! "I was always raised believing if you have a feeling or an emotion, it's absolutely okay to share it and show it. Hiding behind a garb of manliness and denying your own emotion can be quite toxic and dissatisfying. My mother, in fact, always encouraged me to emote when I was going through a tough time rather than walking out of a room because it was difficult to process a particular emotion. I am very thankful for that because I recognise emotions very easily, not just in me and I help people open up and process them. Especially for my son, who is 10." Akshay Luthra, 38, Marketing Consultant. (c)Pintrest (2) Stay-At-Home Dads Shouldn't Be Looked Down Upon "I am stay-at-home father, which means my wife got promoted last year and couldn't find the time to look after the kids round the clock. I have two children and their upbringing is very important to me. So, I work from home and take care of them, while my wife goes to the office. She and I both implement the fact that its absolutely normal to be a stay-at-home dad and it's not a gender-specific role, just for the mother to stay home and take care of the house and children'' - Rohit Nanda, 39, Freelance Writer (c)Pintrest (3) Cooking Doesn't Challenge Masculinity "My mother always loved cooking and she was of the opinion anyone can cook. She never saw it as an activity for just women, where they cook and serve at all times. In fact, my sister was never encouraged to enter the kitchen. If her interest lay there, she definitely would have. But I loved to cook since a child and my mother always encouraged it. Today I have my own restaurants and I still love to cook. It was because of my mother I changed my hobby, to my work now" - Pritiyush Kalra, 35, Chef (4) A Choice Is A Choice "I was always fascinated by wearing non-boyish clothes as a kid. I mean, I liked all these colourful dresses and my mom's make-up. I would just stare at her getting ready and always go for her make-up when she wasn't around. I remember the day she caught me, I thought I would -be in big trouble. But she asked me what I liked about make-up and I said I liked the colours. She then told me it was my choice as to what I liked wearing and how I liked dressing and she would never make that for me. I am very grateful to her for making it easy to identify and accept my choices and my sexuality, when society refused to" - Ankit Moghe, 28, Make-Up Artist. (5) It's About Knowing What're You're Good At "I have been fond of classical dance since I was a child. I used to watch it on television and always start dancing at home. My mother saw that time and again and enrolled me in Bharatanatyam classes. My father was very against this decision and said it's only something girls should do. But my mother stuck her ground and today I am a professional dancer, running my own school. It has also taught me that gender-neutral parenting is very important. It doesn't confuse who you are, it enhances your belief in equal opportunity between the two genders and this is what I will impart to my children as well." - Romith Iyer, 29, Danseur (c)Pintrest Gender-neutral kids are more creative as they're given an opportunity to explore their own wants and needs without facing a bias or a discouragement in their expression of choice. It is fairly important to reduce gender importance and norms that classify as a staunchly patriarchal society. In fact, it's time to do away with the basics of patriarchy and equalise and normalise the effect both genders have, in society. This Mother's Day, these 5 men wish to thank their mother for giving them the ultimate lesson in life- embracing who and what you really are!
  10. Former skipper of the Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi recently released an autobiography titled 'Game Changer', which, to say the least, has to be as controversial as the words that come out of the former cricketer's mouth in his feud with athlete-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir. One of the more interesting and important moments in the book talks about the 2010 match-fixing scandal in which three of Afridi's teammates, namely Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Asif were found guilty of taking money to intentionally spoil the game for the Pakistani national team. According to the bowling-allrounder's autobiography, Afridi was aware of the fact that Butt, Amir and Asif had taken huge sums of money from a bookie named Mazhar Majeed, to knowingly and willingly underperform at specific moments during the Test-series versus Team England, in London. The bowlers were to deliver 'no-balls' which would help the betting men win some easy money. © Reuters Apparently, when Afridi took the news to the senior management team, they refused to take action against his teammates and this was why he stepped down from the role of Test captain and retired. It was only later when the undercover reporters from News of the World decided to do a sting operation on Majeed and collected video footage of the bribe being exchanged that London's Scotland Yard arrested the criminal. The footage was also used as evidence by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to find cause to ban the three corrupt cricketers for terms between 5 to 10 years. Butt, Mohammad and Asif, along with Majeed were also sentenced with some jail time. © Reuters However, the treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Anirudh Chaudhry does not believe in the “honesty” of Afridi's story. In a tweet he says: Actually, once he became aware, he ought to have immediately reported it to the Anti Corruption Unit of the @ICC . How the ACU dealt with the information of him not having reported this would be interesting because it was a failure of his obligation Inder the code. https://t.co/BDUoHuV505 — Anirudh Chaudhry (@AnirudhChaudhry) May 4, 2019 “Actually, once he became aware, he ought to have immediately reported it to the Anti Corruption Unit of the @ICC. How the ACU dealt with the information of him not having reported this would be interesting because it was a failure of his obligation Under (sic) the code.” So, why did Afridi not approach the ACU immediately after Team Pakistan's management team decided against taking any action over his news? I guess we will never know. However, for now, you can live with the fact that one of Afridi's many (many) retirements happened because of a reason.
  11. I love to travel, and thanks to my job, I am on the go for the most part of the year. It's fun mostly, albeit there are times it can get quite hectic, especially if it's a last minute plan. Now I have been doing this for a while. When I had started out, I had made quite a lot of mistakes each time I travelled. But you know how they always say - practice makes one perfect. In my case, I can safely say I have perfected the art of planning a last-moment trip without losing my calm. Here's what I do. 1. Keep A Travel Bag Ready With All The Basics One thing that I learnt from my round-the-clock, sudden work trips is to always keep a travel bag ready with bare minimum necessities - toiletries, laptop, pair of socks, trousers, sunglasses, and two ironed shirts. If you are on the go, it's better you find a way to save as much time as you can. And take it from a person with experience, you don't want to waste 30 minutes on packing when you have an urgent flight to catch. 2. Buy A Travel Insurance Under 60 Seconds About 20% of frequent flyers buy their travel insurance last minute, and there is a lot of hassle in getting one. I am one of those people. And if you relate to this too, there is a news for you that will come to you as a huge relief. Reliance General Insurance has made it possible for customers to buy travel insurance under 60 seconds. How you ask? Say hello to an NFC-enabled digital innovation way where you simply tap your smartphone on the NFC tags. This 'Tap and Buy' innovation has been introduced in Delhi International Airport, and about 46 screens are available to use the facility. Trust me, it has made my life so much easier, and my trips less hectic. Let me explain how you can make the most of this facility. All you have to do is tap your NFC-enabled smartphone on one NFC tags placed at one of the 46 kiosks at Delhi Airport. The moment you do that, your phone will be prompted to open WhatsApp and you can buy your travel insurance in less than a minute. Isn't that cool? And hey, I am not the only one who is vouching for this innovation. Turns out, Bollywood singer, Sukhbir Singh too is a big fan. See what he has to say about this. View this post on Instagram It's definitely a relief to know great things happen when technology meets insurance. Kudos to Reliance Travel Insurance for doing this man! Thank you guys! To all my friends, I definitely recommend you try these Tap & Buy NFC Portals where I bought my Travel Insurance last minute. I found these portals at T3 Delhi International Airport for anyone who's travelling & has forgotten Travel Insurance just like me! #RelianceGeneralInsurance #LiveSmart #RelianceTravelInsurance #TravelGram #TravelHolic #TravelSafe #GigLife #Exciting #Different #NFC #Kudos #TechnologyOfIndia #InstaTech #SmartTechnology #NewYorkCity #Tap #Buy #Insurance #Security #DigitalInnovation A post shared by Sukhbir (@sukhbir_singer) on Apr 20, 2019 at 11:13am PDT 3. Have A Reliable Travel Agent Picture this. You have your business meeting in 24 hours. You have to fly out in the next eight hours. There is a time crunch. And of course, an immense amount of stress. What I do in such scenarios is I make a travel agent work for me and help me ease the burden. Travel agents are great when it comes to accountability, and getting amazing deals at the last moment. Just give your preferences, and they will do your bookings, get your meals in place, and get you your preferred seat. Besides, you get to save a lot of time. Right? 4. Contact Hotels Directly A lot of people book hotels online. Of course, it does help in saving a lot of time but it really doesn't help when it comes to saving money. The smart way, according to me, is to contact the hotel directly, and BARGAIN till you get a deal which works for you. 5. Make Use Of Discounts, Offers & Miles When I am running out of time, I usually forget about the discounts and coupons I have earned from my past travels. I mean, it does slip your mind, doesn't it? But now, I am a little wise, and a little careful. If you have coupons lying idle, use it judiciously. And lastly, no matter where you travel, whether for work or leisure, remember to enjoy your fullest.
  12. With the Indian Premier League in its second half, fans have seen quite a stir with the points table with respect to the position of the eight franchises of the league. While Virat Kohli's Royal Challenger Bangalore has shown signs of revival in the later days, other teams like the Kolkata Knight Riders who were considered to be above average, have slumped down the order. But that does not mean that a T20 match between the below-par teams like KKR and Rajasthan Royals cannot fill the stadium with a jolt of excitement and loud cheers. After losing the toss against Steve Smith at the Eden Gardens arena, Dinesh Karthik and team were asked to bat first. The Knight Riders openers, Chris Lynn (0 runs) and Shubhman Gill (13 runs) played small, underwhelming innings before getting dismissed at the hands of Royals' Varun Aaron. In came the KKR skipper, who had been under the microscope ever since India's 15-man squad for ICC World Cup 2019 was announced a couple of weeks ago and Karthik was chosen to represent the nation over a younger Rishabh Pant and people were sceptical about the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer and his ability as a batsman. But DK showed to the world that he is more than capable as a finisher and has the potential of becoming the backbone of the team that could support the entire batting innings of a team. And yes, this was an Indian Premier League match and sure there is a huge difference between a national-level T20 league match and an ODI match at the stature that of the World Cup, but this is about Karthik's characteristics as a fine cricketer. Scoring just three runs in the first 10 deliveries, Karthik realised that it was time for him to take hold of the steering wheel and become the leader in terms of building a respectable total for their opponents when other batsmen around him failed to stick to the crease. Fans think so. #KKRvRR ðhttps://t.co/ZaThRNNBLx — Twitter Moments India (@MomentsIndia) April 25, 2019 Even though Riyan Parag and the rest of the Rajasthan batting order were too good to handle for the KKR bowlers, Karthik's performance was recognised by the Indian fans: Dinesh Karthik 97* from 50 balls 9 sixes Thats fantastic Captain innings !! 13. This week's 'Game Of Thrones' episode has people divided on whether Arya was old enough to have *** or not. © HBO Considering Arya Stark was 11 when the show started, she has literally grown up before our eyes. And for most of the fans, it only seems yesterday that she was this fierce little girl pretending to be a boy to survive. In fact, for a long time on the show, she was supposed to wear a strap and hide her breasts to make her look more man-like onscreen. For Maisie Williams, it was surprising for her to discover that she had a *** scene in the last season. For a while, she thought the screenwriters were pranking her by giving her a bogus script. © HBO And then, there were the hilarious fan reactions which you too would relate to, as people questioned if Arya was old enough to even have ***. But here's the thing, HBO is smart that way. And they had technically sent out a clarification in the form of a tweet that most of us missed. But here's something clarifying once and for all that she was, in fact, of age. By age 18 in Westeros you should have: - Had a pet. - Moved out on your own. - Travelled extensively. - Had a kill list. - Pretended to be the opposite *** to evade capture. - Been blind for a while. - Ticked at least three people off of your kill list. — HBO (@HBO_UK) April 21, 2019 That clarifies things. In fact, fellow actor Sophie Turner... © HBO also turned up in support for her on-screen sister Arya by posting this bizarre story on Instagram. why is no one on my tl talking about miss sophie referring to gendry as an easter bunny hop hop hopping into that PUSSAY? pic.twitter.com/aA9budFhwz — maia (@maia419) April 22, 2019 So, now you know. Arya is 18 in this season and her decision to have a hot steamy night with Gendry was completely valid.
  14. One of the most celebrated cricket leagues around the world, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has covered almost half of its journey so far. With all teams fighting hard for a spot in the top four, the real game is yet to unfold. Currently, all the teams are playing with their full bench strength, but what if we remove most of the foreign players from the equation? Yes, as the ICC World Cup 2019 approaches, most of the big names such as David Warner, Chris Gayle, Johnny Bairstow will leave to play for their country. More or less, all the big teams except India and Australia are playing one or more bilateral ODI series before the World Cup. The main reason behind this is to bring the teams back into the groove ahead of the main tournament. While West Indies will be playing Ireland and Bangladesh from 5th May, England, on the other hand, will be hosting Pakistan from 5th May itself. All this comes down to many players including Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer who are currently playing in the IPL, leaving right away in the second half of the tournament. Here is how the teams could potentially stack up following the departure of their foreign players- 1. Kolkata Knight Riders View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kolkata Knight Riders (@kkriders) on Apr 19, 2019 at 9:32pm PDT Kolkata Knight Riders will be one of the most worst-affected teams in the final stages of the tournaments. They will have to depend solely on their local strength as players like Sunil Narine, Carlos Braithwaite, Joe Denly, Lockie Ferguson and many more will be leaving for national duty. The only ones that haven't been selected in the World Cup squad or the teams for upcoming tournaments will play in the IPL. Chris Lynn, Harry Gurney and Matt Kelly will be amongst the foreign players left with KKR. 2. Sunrisers Hyderabad View this post on Instagram A post shared by SunRisers Hyderabad (@sunrisershyd) on Apr 23, 2019 at 1:01am PDT Another team which will be bear the brunt of the World Cup preparation will be the SunRisers Hyderabad as their entire top order will collapse with the departure of Warner, Bairstow, Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson. Not only this, even their spin department will take a major blow when their Afghani duo of Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan along with Shakib-Al-Hasan will leave in the middle of the tournament. 3. Delhi Capitals View this post on Instagram A post shared by Delhi Capitals (@delhicapitals) on Apr 17, 2019 at 10:04pm PDT The table toppers at the moment, Delhi Capitals, could have been one of the least affected teams after the departure of its foreign players but unfortunately, their key bowler, Kagiso Rabada will also join the list. Playing for South Africa, Rabada will leave as soon as the national camp begins. Along with him, Colin Munro and Trent Boult will also be expected to leave in the middle of the season itself for the same reason. 4. Chennai Super Kings View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chennai Super Kings (@chennaiipl) on Apr 20, 2019 at 7:07am PDT The defending champions might not face that big a problem because most of the foreign players they own are not included in their national squad except for the South African duo of Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir along with Mitchell Santer and David Willey. Tahir would be their only worry as he is their leading wicket-taker and both main spinners leaving at the same time might cause some problems, but even for that, they do have Harbhajan Singh and Ravinder Jadeja as backups. 5. Rajasthan Royals View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) on Apr 23, 2019 at 4:30am PDT Rajasthan Royals should be expecting a lot of trouble comings its way, as a majority of foreign players are performing in their team and soon, even they would leave. While the new skipper, Steve Smith will leave for Australia, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler will depart to play against Pakistan at the beginning of May. In the end, they would be only left with Liam Livingstone, who has just played one game till now and Ashton Turner, who is currently going through a nightmare of a season. 6. Mumbai Indians View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mumbai Indians (@mumbaiindians) on Apr 20, 2019 at 7:16am PDT The three-time champions, Mumbai Indians will have to face the drums as most of their star-performing players would leave the MI camp as the World Cup comes closer. The first name will be Quinton de Kock, followed by Alzarri Joseph, Lasith Malinga, Adam Milne, Jason Behrendorff and Mitchell McClenaghan. The one player that is doubtful is Kieron Pollard who also might leave if selected in the West Indies World Cup Squad. It will be a real test for Rohit Sharma and his men to perform in the conditions in which they have never played before. 7. Royal Challengers Bangalore View this post on Instagram A post shared by Royal Challengers Bangalore (@royalchallengersbangalore) on Apr 19, 2019 at 9:00pm PDT The Virat Kohli-led RCB currently has a lot on stake, and with the WC approaching, things might get out of hand for them, as a few of their key players might leave early for national duty. The earliest one to leave will be Moeen Ali as England is playing Pakistan before the main tournament. The next in line would be Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Dale Steyn, Colin de Grandhome and Tim Southee. Already being on the 8th spot, it will become even more difficult for Kohli and AB de Villiers to help their team do any good. 8. Kings XI Punjab View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kings XI Punjab (@kxipofficial) on Apr 22, 2019 at 3:12am PDT The lions of Punjab are among the lucky few teams that might not be adversely affected by this exit as most of their home players are doing well. The only sad news for Punjab fans would be the desertion of Chris Gayle and David Miller for their respective nationals teams. Apart from that, KXIP contains an awesome pool of young local talent including Mayank Agarwal and Sarfaraz Khan who will surely help the team in making it to the playoffs.
  15. On Thursday, when Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings came to play at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium, it wasn't just another match of IPL 2019. It was a match that saw a fan-idol duo turn into rivals, in order to inch closer to winning the IPL trophy. We're talking about Riyan Parag, who made a promising debut with Rajasthan Royals; and MS Dhoni, who is leading CSK from the forefront. Twitter This 17-year-old cricketer hails from Assam and was all of six, when he first met and clicked a picture with his idol MS Dhoni. In fact, when MS Dhoni made his international debut in 2004, Riyan was 3. Fast forward to the present and Riyan not only made his IPL debut but also played against MS Dhoni. Ever since the two met, this picture of their 'then and now' started circulating on social media and is now making people go crazy. Twitter Riyan is a right-handed batsman and leg spinner, who was also a part of the Indian team that won the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2018. He also featured in two tests for the Indian U-19 team in England and holds the record of the second fastest 50 in U-19 after Virat Kohli. Twitter Riyan's father is Parag Das, a former cricketer and mother is Mithu Baruah, a national level swimmer.

  18. A majority of people on the planet are always in the constant mission to lose weight, however, not all get highly satisfying results. via GIPHY Talking about hurdles when it comes to weight loss, the first one is actually sticking to a diet. However, while you may stick to a diet if you have immense dedication towards your goal, you will still face the problem of hunger. When you go on a calorie deficit diet or reduce your calorie intake from your current diet, your body starts craving for more food. via GIPHY Since you were earlier consuming more food in your routine, your body becomes accustomed to it. Now when you deprive it of those food items, the hormones in your body will send signals for cravings and you will feel hungry throughout the day. Chances are that you might even give up to these cravings sooner than later. via GIPHY So in this article, I am going to tell you a few strategies that will help you to minimize these cravings so that you can stay on track for your fitness goals: 1. Eat More Protein via GIPHY Consuming more protein in your daily diet will help you to curb your hunger as your body has to spend more time to digest protein. Another important role of protein as a macronutrient is to help your body in muscle repair. via GIPHY Thus it makes more sense to include food items that are high in protein in every meal of the day. When I say protein, I mean protein food and not supplements like Whey. Whey protein is digested rapidly so it may not have the same satiety factor as natural sources of protein. Thus try to include more natural form of protein like chicken, Eggs, Tofu, Cottage cheese etc. 2. Drink More Water via GIPHY While you may think that you are hungry for food, chances are that you might actually be thirsty. This happens with the majority of people who do not consume enough water throughout the day. via GIPHY You need to make a conscious effort to consume enough water so that you are not confusing thirst with hunger. Try this, when you feel hungry just after a few minutes of consuming a meal, have water. Trust me, you will realize that you weren't actually hungry. Also, drinking sips of water every now and then help a lot in regulating your hunger. 3. Consume Calorie Sparse Foods via GIPHY Those quick snack bites like biscuits and namkeens may satisfy your hunger immediately but it won't last for too long. Similarly, sugary drinks and colas add up to your calorie intake but do not provide ample satiety factor to keep hunger at bay. Whenever you consume any of these food items you will start feeling hungry immediately after some time. Thus, they are a poor choice to satisfy your hunger. via GIPHY Instead, you should always choose fibre dense food like brown rice, Oatmeal etc which have enough fibre to make you feel less hungry over time. High volume foods that have enough fibre will take time to digest and thus give you more satiety factor. They said: "We're so sorry to hear about this. Our team has recently responded via email. Please reply there if you have additional questions." We're so sorry to hear about this. Our team has recently responded via email. Please reply there if you have additional questions! — Uber Support (@Uber_Support) 19 March 2019 This isn't the first time an Uber driver has shown misconduct towards a female passenger in Delhi. There have been numerous cases reported of women being molested or being talked back rudely to, while riding an Uber. Just recently Mallika Dua encountered an Uber driver who chose to abuse her when she asked him to increase the temperature of the air conditioning. But this incident with Amrita Das is a new low altogether, wherein the Uber driver isn't just insulting her request, he's being lewd and inappropriate with her as well. Although, Uber has received the complaint, just like always, their complacency over this matter will also rule the roost, just like the rest of them have in the past. They probably won't take action against the driver and he'll carry on driving in the city, passing horrible remarks to other women who hail his cab. © Twitter The need of the hour is for Uber to step up on their hiring operations and also take vital responsibility towards several complaints they receive about their drivers. The drivers should be thoroughly scanned before they are hired and if they misbehave, they should definitely be fired, on the ground. We're not sure why Uber dictates such apathy towards these issues but we're hopeful they'll change their ways soon before something more drastic happens. Meanwhile, Twitter came out in support of Amrita and this is what most of them had to say: Worst part is..Uber doesn't have an emergency contact number in India.. happened to us as well...hope you are okay.. — Naren (@shipsdeet) 19 March 2019 This is serious. No response from @DelhiPolice @DelhiTrafficPol ? Don't hesitate in filing a police complaint. @Uber_Support Do you not verify drivers' credentials before hiring? @Uppolice and @uptrafficpolice also need to look into the matter, since the car has no. plate of UP — Half Expert (@akul_nishant) 19 March 2019 @Uber_Support Taking this particular driver as reference, I'd like to know how do you ensure something like this does not happen again? Is he going to be let off with a warning? Or sacked? Or sensitised? What are the concrete steps you're taking to make your riders feel safe? — Abhishek Sinha (@raptorhands) 19 March 2019 Sick and tired of @Uber_Delhi drivers. No action taken even after having multiple harrowing experiences. Sack this driver! — Dylan San Delo (@theparambhole16) 19 March 2019 Uber has gone worst in NCR. If u'd ask to turn on AC, they'll lecture you on whether. Cab drivers in their 'prime category' are even worst. — Piyush Hans (@HansPiyush) 19 March 2019 That's why girls still hesitate to travel alone.. When will this change ð — Divya Sharma (@DivyaSh92292336) 19 March 2019 Why @DelhiPolice u aren't responding U must learn from @MumbaiPolice who are prompt in responding to public calls, they respond to even every smallest tweet — âsâ (@arieotic) 20 March 2019 Sorry from @Uber_Support isn't an answer. @DelhiPolice must take action against the driver. https://t.co/ENCI3ty20t — Mohd Mustaquim (@Mustaquimm) 20 March 2019 This is genuinely a very common occurrence. Uber should definitely suspend such drivers. — AARUSHI005 (@Aarushiwith2As) 20 March 2019 The most pertinent question though is when will women feel safe in this city? Put aside single women travelling alone, even women travelling with male companions face such threats too. Unless Uber India decisively takes action against their drivers, the situation's not going to change for sure.
  20. Abhay Deol has been MIA for a while. However, that is what sets him apart from everyone else in Bollywood, we think. There's this inexplicably charming nonchalance about everything he does - right from not making an effort to get along with the maddening B'town crowd, to not being hesitant in the least while speaking up about important issues like the obsession with fair skin. © © Instagram/Abhaydeol He is never in the limelight but sneakily went through an amazing transformation that should most certainly bring him under it. © Instagram/Abhaydeol © Instagram/Abhaydeol He has been hitting the gym a lot, and it clearly is working wonders. 21. Well, you can hate them or love them, but you know you've never been able to ignore them because we've had no option but to keep up with all the Kardashians and the Jenners. The women from these two powerful clans have carved an iconic name for themselves in the world and Kylie Jenner has done much more than that, as she has basically created history. 22. If you have a beer belly bulge that you're not very proud of, then you've come to the right place. The annoying commute of everyday life might leave you with no time to work out and take care of yourself. This means you might end up with racoon eyes and a particular bulge that you're not very proud of. While long term solutions might range from taking care of yourself, your skin and adopting a healthy work out sesh, the short term solution is simple, which is to dress in a way that completely hides the bulge. Here's how you can do that. 1. The Posture Matters © livestrong Firstly, before we start telling you what to wear and what to avoid, you need to get your body posture right because that greatly impacts the visibility of your bulges. So nix crouching and slouching like a couch potato and start sitting up straight and standing upright. 2. Nix Tight Fitted Clothes © manhoodtv If you've gained weight recently, it possibly also means you've outgrown your current size that you wear in clothes which means you should nix wearing tight fitted clothing. It's time to get your sizes right and wear the right size that helps hide the belly. So avoid wearing those tight tees that highlight your belly or tees and that lift from the back when you sit or bend and display your handles. It's really that simple. 3. Nix Extremely Loose-Fitted Clothes Also © Getty images At the same time, you don't want to wear extremely loose fitted clothes also. These can be counterproductive in the sense that they exaggerate body fat instead of hiding it. It's very important to get measured and stick to your size. 4. Stop Believing In Myths About Belly Fat © Getty images You can pull off anything as long as it suits your body. It's a myth that light colours won't suit you. If you get the right size of these colours and combine it with a fitted counterpart, they will definitely work. For example, a light blue shirt would work for you if you pair fitted trousers with it. However, if either of the sizes is off, the pair can be counterproductive. 5. Always Choose Mid-Rise © Getty images When buying trousers, choose mid-rise that fits well around your navel. This will attempt to conceal your belly fat by pressing it in. 6. Layering Helps © Getty images You must've heard this one before but layering is a really good technique to conceal belly fat. So, a shirt over a t-shirt or a scarf in the Summer work great. In the Winter, choose shrugs, jackets, long coats that streamline your figure and conceal the fat.
  23. What usually comes to your mind when you hear the word 'Doctor'? An elderly, pleasant looking gentleman with probably a paunch and kind eyes who either comforts you with his kind eyes or creeps the living daylights out of you with his evil grin (but that's the stuff from horror movies). Anyway, when that imagery is challenged by someone who even remotely falls outside of that category, they tend to leave a lasting impression. Especially, if they go right ahead and look like they stepped out of a model catalogue or the cast of Grey's Anatomy, they deserve to be applauded because hey, it takes a lot of effort to establish oneself as a doctor. Clearly, Dr Rodrigo Sapo has what it takes, and more. He looks like a muscled, bearded model who spends his waking hours in the gym instead of a hospital, and that doesn't even begin to describe what he looks like. 25. Love may be the most powerful feeling known to mankind, but more than anything else, love is a celebration. A celebration of the life we love and are grateful for. A celebration of loving ourselves for who we are, and how far we have come when it comes to living our dreams. And if we are lucky enough, a celebration of finding the person who seems to make life so much more better by simply being in it. So, to love is to basically celebrate the joy and happiness we find with someone else that we didn't even know existed! They just happen to walk into our life one fine day, and bam, nothing remains the same anymore. © Keshav Suri Love is like that added sprinkle of pepper and oregano on the pizza, it is so extra but makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Much like the added sprinkle of squabbles, random fits of laughter and dizzying rush of affection, being in love brings into our life. Keshav and Cyril's heady relationship has been nothing less than a similar celebration. It's full of spice and sprinkled with moments of unceasing fun and laughter, which makes Keshav extremely grateful for the best ten years of his life that he got to share with his French husband Cyril Feuillebois. © Keshav Suri And since love follows no single language or religion, learning about this union between Keshav and Cyril has been a wonderful experience. Lalit Hotels scion Keshav Suri is more than just that, he is a son, a brother and a loving husband apart from being a champion for the LGBTQ community, since his writ in the Supreme Court against Section 377 changed the future for an entire community. This is his story and we are more than proud to share it with you. Chance may have led them to their first meeting, but Keshav remembers it like it was yesterday. Keshav recalls the first time he met Cyril and says, “I distinctly remember it was the summer of 2008 – June, when Cyril and I met for the first time at a party at the 24/7 Bar at The Lalit New Delhi, and both of us felt a connect.” © Keshav Suri Though Keshav and Cyril instantly hit it off at the party, they couldn't spend more time with each other since immediately after their first meeting, Cyril went to Goa. Reminiscing about that time, Keshav says, “though it was June, I followed him. One day, Cyril hired a Vespa and asked me to join him for a ride. I was apprehensive but, our eyes met and I could easily trust him. It was there, in Goa, where we realised, this was meant to be, that we shared something special.” Yet, of the many memories that the couple has made together, for Keshav, the day he and Cyril exchanged their vows and promised to be with each other, surrounded by their family and friends, remains his most precious and favourite memory. © Keshav Suri In Keshav's own words, here's how the day looked like, “one of the most memorable experiences of my life was walking down the aisle during our recent Goa celebrations. My Sister Shradha played dhol, while other sisters – Divya and Deeksha and Cyril's sister-in-law, Jennifer walked us to the aisle.” He also points out that the women in the couple's life have come as angels in disguise. “The women in our family are amazing! Both nature and professionals were in sync to make it picture perfect. Our mothers officiated the ceremony. At sunset, we exchanged vows and garlands in front of a transgender high priestess. The exchange of rings and sunset were perfectly timed. Everyone was teary-eyed during our vows, even we were very emotional”, shares Keshav. © Keshav Suri In the years that Keshav and Cyril have been together, there have been many moments which stood out, many landmark moments they achieved as a couple. Yet, when asked about their biggest milestone, Keshav would give you this heartfelt response, “my writ in the Supreme Court of India to revoke Section 377 and the journey of it reading down has been a huge milestone for us and the country. It would not have happened without my partner and my family's support. And our marriage recently in Paris and celebrations in Goa, which I am sure is a milestone in every relation. I truly value what we share and am glad to have taken the plunge.” © Keshav Suri That almost sounds as much as an ardent love confession, as it was a highlight the couple had the joy of sharing together. But obviously, there is a lot more than just memories that Keshav and Cyril have shared together in the time they have been together. And trust us when we say it, it has been the perfect blend of love and spice. Keshav admits the same himself, “Life together has been a rollercoaster ride, with much fun, laughter and some lifetime experiences. We've travelled around the world together and ticked off life goals. I've always felt at home with him. We have 3 children together – our dogs – Pacco Westwood, Edith Jagger, Maggie Dench and working hard to see them through college.” © Keshav Suri And regardless of the rollercoaster ride that life has been ever since the couple got together, Keshav cannot stop gushing about the love of his love for the kind of person he is, and what Cyril adds to his life. Talking about how proud he is of his husband, Keshav tells us, “Cyril is an extremely private and a creative person. Despite that, he stood by my decision to file a writ, which meant our lives will be in the public eye. The fact that he just lets me be, and is not at all judgmental and nothing anyone says or does shocks him. I am proud of his courage and his love for our country – India. © Keshav Suri But, of course, we also had to be cliched and ask Keshav what love and his relationship with Cyril has taught him, on the occasion of Valentine's Day, and Keshav, being a sport said, “this relation has filled my life with laughter. Even after ten years of being together, we have the ability to make each laugh. It has taught me to be happy and spread love, warmth, positivity and happiness.” © Keshav Suri Valentine's Day may or may not mean something to you personally, but it becomes especially hard to be immune to all the love and warmth that's in the air and in people's hearts today. We hope that whether you're single or in love, the stories in '14 Days of Love' inspire you to love and spread the love all through the year.
