With the win against the West Indies in the second of three T20I matches at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium, skipper Rohit Sharma has boosted his winning record in white-ball cricket significantly. However, fans of former captain Virat Kohli, are still not happy and found Sharma’s record highly inflated.
Although the Hitman was unable to play an impacting inning himself and got dismissed for just 19 runs in 18 deliveries while smacking two 4’s and one 6 during his time on the pitch, his batters, including Kohli and Rishabh Pant’s half-centuries, put together a total of 186, and his bowlers did well to defend this total over the course of the 20 overs.
View this post on InstagramWith the second T20I win, Sharma bagged yet another series during his tenure as the Indian captain.
Over the last 10 matches across all formats of the game in which he has been the Indian skipper, the Men in Blue have won each and every one of those games.

The whitewash wins in the ODI series against Kieron Pollard’s men that concluded earlier this month boosted Sharma’s record in 50-over cricket all the way to 84.61%.
On the other hand, his T20I winning percentage also rose to an incredible 83.33% with his latest win.
Rohit Sharma's Winning Percentage As Indian Captain:-
•In ODIs - 84.61%
•In T20Is - 83.33%
Obviously, these are some exceptional numbers and the history of the game suggests that these numbers are bound to deteriorate with time as Sharma plays more and more matches as a leader.
Still, to have such an amazing start to one’s captaincy is definitely worth celebrating.
However, Kohli’s fans seem to have some real issues with Sharma’s record and feel as if the numbers don’t paint a true picture of what is really going on.
I'd like to see how he goes about against stronger teams like Eng, Aus, NZ outside India. Coz in India we don't loose & apart from these 3-4(SENA) teams other countries don't even compete.

In india no one can beat us doesn't matter who's the captain
Against minnows
— Balu (@TheNameisBalu_) February 18, 2022According to these doubters, Sharma’s winning record is so high simply because he has not led the squad against India’s stronger opponents in international cricket including South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia (also known as the SENA nations) where it is a lot more difficult and challenging to win matches.
The Hitman’s first assignment as the Indian skipper was supposed to be in the ODI series in South Africa earlier this year. However, Sharma was taken out of the roster a week before the team left for the Proteas with complaints of a hamstring injury. As a result, the captaincy was given to KL Rahul and India lost the series 0-3.
