Taylor Swift's ‘Look What You Made Me Do' Has Already Broken 4 Streaming Records In Just 4 Days

‘Look What You Made Me Do', Taylor Swift's most recent single and the first track from her next album ‘Reputation', just came out five days but has already managed to break four major streaming records.

Being streamed more than any other song in a single day, ‘Look What You Made Me Do' was played a total of 10,129,087 times on Spotify last Friday, the day of its release. On top of that, the song even broke YouTube's one-day streaming record.

When the music video for the song released, which was two days ago, it garnered 43.2 million views in 24 hours, smashing the record set by Psy, whose video for ‘Gentleman' was watched 38 million times in one day back in 2013.

As soon as Taylor's video crossed Psy's record, her director, Joseph Kahn, took to Twitter to celebrate, telling fans "you are all amazing".

It wasn't just the music video that went on to break records, though; the lyric video also attracted 19m views on its first day – more than double of the previous record-holder, which was ‘Something Just Like This' by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay.

A few months back, Ed Sheeran made headlines for getting the most Spotify streams in a day for his hit song, ‘Shape of You', but one of Ed's closest friends has come out and snatched that record also, with ‘Look What You Made Me Do' holding the record now.

The song is basically about Taylor Swift owning up to all of her old controversies and bad press, basically taking back her ‘reputation'. There are so many references in the video, and her fans have literally spent the last two days finding out each and every one. You can hate or love Taylor Swift, but you can't ignore the clever imagery and lyrics she has used in this song. After all, it succeeded to capture everyone's attention and the song and video are what everyone has been talking about since its release. Now, we'll just have to wait and see what the whole album has in store for us.
