The Lucknow Metro Breaks Down On First Run & Twitter Fills The Void With Some Laughs

The news of the unveiling of Lucknow's metro line got everyone quite excited, obviously. The express service has proved to be quite beneficial in improving transportation in cities like Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore.

So, it was time Lucknow also followed suit. The inauguration of the metro line was yesterday, and it was most definitely a big deal.

Yesterday, UP Governor Ram Naik, CM Yogi Adityanath and Home Minister Rajnath Singh also enjoyed the maiden ride of the metro, which will run from Transport Nagar to Charbagh.

But, trouble came a little too early. On the first day only, the Lucknow Metro Service was temporarily stopped because of some technical glitch.

More than 100 passengers boarded the metro for the first public ride, but it went horribly wrong. The metro came to a sudden stop, with all the passengers stuck inside the coaches without any light and air-conditioning for over an hour.

A press release on the incident from the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation stated: “Around 7.15 am, the metro train that was on its way from Charbagh to Transport Nagar developed a technical snag. The Emergency Brakes (EB) were applied in the train when the train was travelling between Durgapuri and Mawaiya Metro stations.”

People on Twitter can't believe that this is how the metro's first ride went, and are obviously cracking jokes about the whole thing.
