KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar Friday alleged that efforts are being made to create an atmosphere of fear in Karachi.

Speaking at a press conference, Sattar said they postponed the protest against census results in Karachi because of looming security threats. "How can we go to public when there are serious security threats?"

He expressed dissatisfaction over investigations of attack on Khawaja Izharul Hassan, adding that they have written letters to the army chief and the chief justice pertaining to security concerns.

Criticising the ruling Pakistan People's Party in Sindh, the MQM-P leader said it is afraid of them in Karachi. If you tried to treat us unfairly this time, you would face difficulties, he warned.

Sattar challenged the chief minister to hold a dialogue with him at Nishter Park, adding that he would tell him how much security a political party chief has got and how much is there with his relatives.

He complained that the police vehicles given to them for security were useless and police guards were already reaching their retirement age.

The MQM-P leader admitted that the performance of Karachi mayor was not up to the par, however, said they were trying to improve things in whatever resources they had.
