A Survey Revealed That India Is The 4th Most Vacation Deprived Country In The World. Yes We All Need A Holiday


The year is ending and if you had an epiphany about how you have not been on a vacation in forever, then it’s just not you, even facts state the obvious. According to a vacation deprivation travel survey conducted by Expedia, India is ranked at number four. The study concluded that around 71% Indians either cancel or postpone their plans because of their professional commitments.Β

Spain and UAE are at 68%, followed by Malaysia at 67% and South Korea at 64%. Turns out that 77% of the bosses actually supported their employees in taking an off. The survey included Europe, South Asia, South America and North America. The survey states that 40% Indians don’t actually use all their vacation days, and 21% of them actually think that not taking vacations actually is a positive attribute to have.

"Vacations play a critical role in creating work-life balance as it re-energises people to be more focused at work (95% of Indians agree in the survey). According to Expedia's Vacation Deprivation Survey 2016, 47% of Indians are ready to give up social media and television while 30% would give up internet and 27% can give up contact with their besties for a week, all for one additional day of vacation,” says Manmeet Ahluwalia, Expedia India, marketing head.

Indians also was also on top in getting and savouring a room upgrade, followed by USA and then Singapore. It’s time to take a break and take those pending vacation days soon. It is important to have a work-family life balance, and while exercising is good for physical health, taking a break with your family or just heading out alone and spending time off work is food for the soul.
