Hankook Mirae, a Korean company that has been working hard to develop a life-sized mech that actually works. You might remember the Matrix or the Avatar where humans could pilot mech robots. Well, our dreams have come true as Hollywood SFX veteran posted a video of a mech robot that actually works.

The machine is 13-feet-tall, and weighs around 1.3-ton and can be piloted by a human much like in science fiction movies. It was made so that humans can work in extreme conditions where they cannot go unprotected. However, it will not be used in rescue missions yet since it requires a power source that is portable.

You can see that the Mech suit, which might look straight out of ‘Avatar’, mirrors the movement of the pilot’s arms.
Vitaly Bulgarov, who has worked on movies like ‘Robocop’, ‘Transformers’ and ‘Terminator’, created the mech suit. According to Bulgorov, the short-term goal requires them to develop a platform for such robots where it can be used for industrial applications. They can also mount the Mech on a larger wheeled base, which can be used as a power source in rough terrains.
