'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' Is One Of The Things That Inspired Bill Gates This Year & It's Awesome

With barely a few days left for 2017 to end, most of us have already started making plans and resolutions for the 'New Year', have started replacing the current calendar with that of 2018, and marking the list of holidays the coming year has in store for us.

While most of us still feel that 2017 passed by in the blink of an eye, one cannot deny the fact that this was the year where some of the craziest and unique ideas went on to touch a million hearts and left a deep impact on the world like no one else.

For those who are scratching their heads wondering what those inspiring moments were, philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates has made the task for y'all by listing down the tweets that inspired him this year.

And among those inspiring tweets, Akshay Kumar's 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' found the second spot. He wrote in his tweet, “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”, a Bollywood romance about a newlywed couple, educated audiences about India's sanitation challenge.”

Well, we completely agree with Bill Gates on this one. Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' was indeed a commendable movie that deserves every single award and respect in the world. The film was appreciated both critically and commercially and touched base with one of the most crucial social aspects that many regions of India are still struggling with – sanitation problems.

The film revolves around a couple's life, where the woman walks out of her husband's home because there were no toilets and she was expected to go to the fields early morning every day, along with other ladies of the village. How the man struggles and succeeds in building a toilet at home and making other villages realize about the importance of proper sanitation, weaves the rest of the plot.

Gates started his series of tweets with, “There's no denying that 2017 was a really tough year…but it also delivered some amazing moments of hope and progress. Here are some inspiring tweets that you may have missed.”

It was tough for us to not fall in love and take inspiration from 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' and it seems like Bill Gates too couldn't resist the charm of this movie.

Bollywood highlighting the menace of open defecation in India and trying to address this social cause that went on to inspire one of the most influential people in the world, truly means a lot.
