I Came For Free They Bought You: Ibrahimovic Roasts Pogba After EFL Cup Win

In a bid to overturn their fortunes, Manchester United signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer from French club Paris Saint Germain in the summer. But, at 34, many thought that the Swede was already past his prime and might find it difficult to keep pace with the English game.

But, neither the football pundits, nor the fans could have predicted what really has unfolded over the past seven months at Old Trafford. Ibrahimovic has not really adapted to the fast-paced Premier League style but has become one of the most consistent performers for the Jose Mourinho side.

Ever since his arrival at Man Utd, Ibra has scored 15 goals in the Premier League so far. He has now scored 20 goals and registered five assists in his last 22 outings for the Red Devils. The explosive striker was once again at his prolific best during Man Utd's 3-2 win over Southampton where he scored two goals to propel his side to the EFL Cup title at Wembley.

For a man who came on a free transfer, Ibrahimovic has arguably been a revelation for Man Utd. But apart from his football skills, Ibra has often proved that he is slick with his words too. And his teammate Paul Pogba probably learnt it the hard way.

During a post-match interview after the EFL Cup win, Pogba was told by a reporter that Ibrahimovic was a humble guy. To which the Frenchman quickly replied that it was probably the reason why Man Utd bought him.

And that's when a grinning Ibrahimovic stepped in and stole the moment, leaving the Frenchman in splits. The Swedish striker told Pogba, "Bought me? I came for free. They bought you."

While Zlatan joined United on a free transfer, Pogba was bought in for a world record fee in the summer transfer window. But unlike Ibrahimovic, Pogba has failed to justify his price-tag following a series of mediocre performances for United.
