While the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is slated to begin with much fanfare next month, another Twenty20 tournament is stealing the limelight, for all the wrong reasons. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) had already witnessed a lot of backlash after pictures of half-empty stadiums went viral on the social media, but on Wednesday the tourney witnessed a new low - thanks to the tempers flaring between a couple of players.

Adding to the ongoing drama, Quetta Gladiators were engrossed in a tense battle with Lahore Qalandars who were breezing to victory when the incident occurred. In the final stages of the game, Gladiators bowler Sohail Khan found himself struggling to get the attention of fellow teammate Yasir Shah on the field.

Frustrated by his inability to make contact with Shah at the boundary ropes, Sohail lost his cool and ended up throwing the ball at him. The ball missed the Pakistani leg-spinner's head by a close margin which only infuriated him to give a strong reply.

Shah picked the ball and threw it back towards the bowler while the other cricketers and fans were trying to make sense of their antics. The two Pakistani cricketers were later involved in a heated exchange before their captain Brendon McCullum interfered and defused the tension.

The video of the entire episode has taken the social media by storm with Gladiators batsman Kevin Pietersen terming it as the 'funniest moment' of his cricket career.
