The Larger iPhone X Plus Is Expected To Be Cheaper Than The Current Models & Should Be Unveiled This Year

Whether you are a fan of the iPhone X or not, the basic design of the smartphone is here to stay and we're expecting it to feature on other iPhone models in the future. Analysts are now reporting that Apple is going to launch two OLED iPhones this year and one of them will be a 5.85-inch model. Since we are confused as to what Apple will call these models, we will refer to them as iPhone X Plus β€” for now.

OLED displays are still more expensive to manufacture compared to LCD screens as it has lower yield rates, fewer manufacturer options and fewer production lines. All of the mentioned restrictions attribute to a rising price. Apple has also reportedly reduced its order for Samsung's OLED panels and that would lead even higher prices for OLED displays.Β

Due to a possible rise in price, there is now a high chance that Apple will opt to launch two LCD iPhones with the same design and one OLED iPhone this year. Having said that, the two companies have come to an agreement where the cost of the displays won't increase. So it may be possible that the 5.85-inch model will be the cheapest out of the three iPhones expected this fall.Β

Apple is looking to cut costs and include lower specs for the 5.85-inch model than the 6.1-inch LCD device as it will have a smaller battery, less RAM and less storage. Of course, all these rumours are not true to word and can only be confirmed one Apple makes it official in September this year.Β
