iPhone X Still The Highest Selling Smartphone In The World & Has Left All Android Phones Behind

The iPhone X is the world's best-selling smartphone for the first quarter of 2018 even though numerous analysts thought otherwise. Apple has managed to ship 16 million units in the past three months and according to data released by market researcher Strategy Analytics, Apple isn't slowing anytime soon.

What's worthy to note is that the next two spots on the best-selling smartphone list are also occupied by two other Apple smartphones — iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The two cheaper devices sold 12.5 million units and 8.3 million units respectively surpassing every Android phone in the market today.

The iPhone X is Apple's most expensive smartphone yet and there were fears that the device would not sell well thanks to its massive price tag. There were worries that the iPhone X didn't woo buyers enough to garner sales as high as previous iPhones.

"For the second quarter running, the iPhone X remains the world's most popular smartphone model overall, due to a blend of good design, sophisticated camera, extensive apps, and widespread retail presence for the device," Juha Winter, senior analyst at Strategy Analytics, said in a statement. "Apple has now shipped almost 50 million iPhone X units worldwide since commercial launch in November 2017.”

To put things into perspective, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus were the two top-selling Android smartphones where only 5.4 million and 5.3 million units were shipped respectively. When compared to the iPhone X's 16 million shipment figures, its clear as day that no Android device comes even close to Apple's sales figures.
