MS Dhoni Mercilessly Trolls Sanjay Manjrekar During The Toss For IPL 2018 Final

After 56 entertaining league games and three pulsating Playoff ties, the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) finally found its finalists in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Arguably the two most consistent and convincing sides in the tournament, CSK and SRH surprised no one by meeting in the summit clash - a deja-vu of Qualifier 1.

With Chennai chasing their third title and Hyderabad eyeing their second, the margin for error was very thin which in turn had everyone on the edge. The players from both the sides would have felt butterflies in their stomach, but such was the intensity of the contest that it even gave commentator Sanjay Manjrekar the jitters.

Ahead of the all-important clash, Manjrekar had MS Dhoni and Kane Williamson - captains of the two sides - down in the middle for the toss. Dhoni flipped the coin up in the air and Williamson called tails, but it rolled unusually far away from them. By the time Manjrekar and Match Referee Andy Pycroft made their way to the coin and found that it was heads, the former Indian cricketer forgot what Williamson had called for.

Call it a rare lapse of concentration or just feeling the nerves, Manjrekar, in his confusion, sought Dhoni's help to solve the riddle. But, to everyone's fun and sheer exasperation of Manjrekar, Dhoni mercilessly trolled the Indian commentator and got him confused even more. Here's the funny exchange between the two individuals:

Manjrekar: "You called heads".

Dhoni: "No, he (Williamson) called tails".

Manjrekar: "Yes, you called heads".

Dhoni: "No, he called tails!".

Frustrated by Dhoni's wit, Manjrekar asked the former Indian captain to "stop fooling around".

This isn't the first time when Dhoni has witnessed some drama at the toss. Back in 2011, ahead of the India vs Sri Lanka World Cup final, Dhoni and Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara were exposed to similar confusion at the toss, where the coin was eventually flipped twice.

Opting to field first, Dhoni-led Chennai saw Hyderabad post a competitive total of 178 runs on the back of crucial knocks from Williamson (47) and Yusuf Pathan (45*). But, their total eventually became a stroll for Chennai who adequately propelled by an unbeaten 117-run knock from Shane Watson to an emphatic eight-wicket win.
