As the Congress is to the BJP in the Indian sub-contient, when it comes to opposing formal wear theories for men, a few famous (and daring) humans — like LeBron James — are already spearheading a rebellion of sorts. Call it their style demeanor or a simple playoff in custom-made Thom Browne suits, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been up to some good shit lately.
Their game aside, off the court, the stellar suits they've been wearing left, right and centre (that only come with hand bags worth a few hefty dollars) deserve a mention today. After all, they fit faine (in fact, pretty fine), cause a hurricane among the paparazzi and land up on most global websites. The story's no different here.
But what makes these outfits, if we may — style cases to consider — is the presence of the separates involved. Like this one here, that's basically just a pair of shorts with a suit on LeBron James:

Think of this as the rule of the jungle from today, but no, LeBron doesn't wear trousers with a suit. It's a suit — your staple boardroom uniform — but looks like, it's on a holiday. And, though that doesn't mean it belongs to the beach (thanks to Thom Browne's incredible tailoring), it's not for your next client meeting either. Let's just say, this is what King James likes to wear. And if you're waiting to cop it in your life, we'd bless you with some tolerance. Because people will talk. Remarks will be made. You are, after all, wearing a pair of freaking shorts with a suit. So keep calm and carry on.

Broken down, LeBron slipped into a charcoal grey twill suit here (with shorts), paired with a classic white dress shirt, a just-slim-enough necktie and socks, leather boots and an alligator Browne bag to go along. The fit in totality was an absolute nail — a feature that's a staple of the brand and co-exists in the lives of all their employees and of course, was a little skinny. Now throw in a timepiece, wayfarers, white pocket square and let's bring this outfit breakdown to a close.

What's to ponder upon, however, is how accepting are the masses about shorts with suits? Casually labelled as the shortest suit in the history of fashion by us, though LeBron James' style move here is a stellar one, we're not sure of it trickling down to Indian men, yet. In most settings in India, even today, trousers are irreplaceable. And though, personally, we're 110% down for this style move on James, let's admit: it's not for everyone. The decision is yours, the tailor's around the corner and we'd suggest, you do whatever the hell you want.
