Until a few days ago, 19-year-old Rita Mudi was just like any other second-year student from Bankura Christian College. But thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rita is now a celebrity in her village, Salgera located some 230 km away from Kolkata. Actually, thanks to his autograph, she is now getting multiple marriage proposals.

Rita and her mother were in Midnapore on July 16th, where PM Modi was giving a speech. It was during the event that the tent under which they were sitting collapsed, and they were rushed to the hospital. 

It was during PM Modi's visit to the hospital that he met Rita and spoke to her. Rita told The Times Of India, "That day at the hospital when the PM came to my bedside, I told him how happy I was to see him."

She further added, "I requested an autograph. I saw him hesitate a bit, but I insisted. He then wrote, 'Rita Mudi tum sukhi raho (Stay well, Rita Mudi). Narendra Modi' on a piece of paper. From the very next day, we started having a stream of visitors at our home. They all wanted to see the autograph." Well, people flooding her house to see PM Modi's autograph makes sense, but people asking for her hand in marriage because of the autograph is something new for all of us. 

Rita's mother Sandhya said, "Not only visitors, we received two marriage proposals for Rita." Earlier when Rita got a marriage proposal, the boy asked for Rs. 1 lakh as dowry, but after she got PM's autograph she got a proposal from a businessman in Jharkhand who did not have any demands.

"One was from Jharkhand's Tatanagar. The groom has his own business and had no demands. The second was from Bankura. The groom owns agricultural land. Both my daughters want to study. So we didn't show much interest," her mother said. 

Rita, who wants to study right now, said that she will be ready for marriage when her parents decide the time is right.
