In today's bizarre news, petrol pumps are now apparently being asked to put displays of PM Modi's pictures. What's weirder is that if they fail to do so, they will be facing a supply cut from state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs), according to a report by The Hindu.
SS Gogi, president of the Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers (CIPD) said, “They are asking us to display the picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in retail outlets and those who refuse are threatened with blocking of supplies.”
But, nothing is reportedly confirmed since an IOC official denied threatening to cut supply to the pumps. The official told The Print (https://theprint.in/politics/petrol-pumps-claim-modi-govt-arm-twisting-them-to-fuel-its-publicity-campaign/105234/), “No OMC has threatened to choke supply as the dealers are alleging. Also, the fact that many are saying that the petrol pumps are being used to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photographs is incorrect.”
“What we are doing is promoting the schemes. Now many of the schemes have been initiated by this government and therefore have his photograph. So, while promoting the schemes, his photograph automatically comes up. There is nothing more to it,” he added.
Whatever the truth may be, it still seems like an abuse of power to influence the public in such a way, especially for re-election next year.
Here's what people on Twitter think about this seemingly weird move.
I am glad some bright guy decided to put Narendra Modi's picture at every petrol pump. People will realise the price they are paying for fuel and look for a face to abuse.
— Voice Of Ram (@VORdotcom) August 26, 2018Looks like everyone is saying the same thing.

That's a well thought out joke.
Dr Batra requested @narendramodi to stop spamming all the billboards at petrol pumps with his constipated faces and emails with #Mannkibaat messages. To this, PM replied, he's giving the doctor the taste of his own medicine. #SlayingSince2002#NamoAtPetrolPumps

Taking inspiration from Narendra Modi at Unusual Places, the government has devised their new policy of 'Narendra Modi at Petrol Pumps.
— Vikas bhadauria (@VikasMilGayaa) August 27, 2018A fancy way of saying what the first two tweets said.
On second thought, @narendramodi's face in petrol pumps is a good thing.
People bled dry by the daily increase of fuel prices must know who's responsible.
Visual recollection works.
Maybe.
Modi wants petrol pumps to put up his photo. May be, they should put the photo below their board "Highly Inflammable"
