DC Teammate Colin Ingram Steals Shikhar Dhawan's Chance To Score 1st T20 Ton & Twitter's Angry

After a really long time, we got an opportunity to watch the Indian opener play his kind of game in the twelfth season of the Indian Premier League in the matchup between Dinesh Karthik's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and his Delhi Capitals (DC) in a charge led by the youngster, Shreyas Iyer on Friday.

Playing his best innings in the T20 format of the game, 'Gabbar' hit 11 fours and two sixes to build a career-best individual score of 97 runs in just 63 balls as he played a major role in Delhi Capitals' fourth victory of the season.

With enough runs to make and enough deliveries left in hand, Dhawan found himself on the non-striker's end, with the thought of celebrating his maiden T20 century visible in his eyes clear as day, when his teammate and South African batsman Colin Ingram edged the ball for a four off the second delivery of the 19th over of KKR's bowling before managing a couple of singles in the following two deliveries.

With only five runs needed, you'd imagine the Proteas hitter to make an effort to give the strike to the Indian southpaw. Alas, on the final ball of the 19th over, Ingram opened his bat and sent one flying over long on for a maximum, winning the game in great fashion while also becoming a party pooper for Dhawan's century dream.

Evidently, Gabbar's fans did not take nicely to Ingram's heroics and let him hear it on social media:

While being awarded the Man of the Match for a brilliant knock, Dhawan did express that the idea of a ton existed at the back of his head but did not fail to mention that winning the game for his team was of utmost importance for him.

“I knew it could have been my first T20 hundred but the team goal is more important and so I took that single rather than taking a big risk,” Dhawan said during the post-match presentation.

After winning four of their first seven games, Delhi Capitals are placed fourth on the league's points table and hope to get into the playoffs after having a disappointing season last year.
