The New Zealand cricket team was upstaged in their own backyard by a marauding Indian brigade last year. Travelling to New Zealand for an ODI and T20I series, the 'Men in Blue' left the hosts red-faced with a fine performance overseas. The Indian team killed the contest following three consecutive wins in the five-match ODI series before romping to a 4-1 triumph. And, then, despite some resistance from the hosts, secured a 1-1 draw in the T20I series.
Undone at home, the Kiwis, months later, managed to exact their revenge in a stage and at a competition that mattered the most. Taking on one of the tournament's favourites India, the Kiwis sent the 'Men in Blue' packing and their cricket-crazy fans into a state of mourning following an 18-run triumph in the crucial semifinals.

Contrary to the popular perception, Kohli believes that New Zealand is filled with such nice cricketers that India will never be able to think of revenge against them. The Delhi lad further revealed that Team India was actually happy to see Williamson and his teammates secure their berth for the World Cup final.
"Even if you want to think of revenge these guys are so nice that you can't get into that zone. It's all about being competitive on the field. They are one side that has set the right example for teams to carry themselves on the international stage. We were actually happy for them when they qualified for the World Cup finals. When you have lost you have to look at the larger picture. So nothing about revenge," Kohli revealed, while addressing reporters at the eve of 1st T20I at Eden Park.
