MS 'Swashbuckling' Dhoni Lights Up MA Chidambaram Stadium By Hitting Five Consecutive Sixes

Arguably one of the most popular sports persons in the country, MS Dhoni, now in the twilight of his illustrious career, is struggling to make the cut for Team India. The former Indian captain had last featured in national colours during the semifinals loss against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup. Since then, speculations have been rife over his retirement.

For someone who helped India scale new heights in international cricket, Dhoni's absence, irrespective of his form, has been a tough pill for the fans to swallow. Unable to watch their favourite cricketer in action, fans are now eagerly waiting for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where the Jharkhand cricketer will be seen leading the charge for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

As Chennai gears up to lock horns with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the tournament opener on March 29, the CSK players were reunited for their training camp at the MA Chidambaram stadium. Amongst the CSK players, there was also Dhoni who is worshipped like a demigod in this part of the country.

While many have argued that the former Indian captain has lost his touch with the willow and is no longer the big-hitting finisher he once was, Dhoni was clearly having none of it in what turned out to be a slambang batting session at the Chepauk. In one of the videos doing the rounds on social media, Dhoni can be seen going bonkers in the nets, hitting as many as five sixes in a row.

The video has garnered great interest from Dhoni fans who are eagerly waiting for their 'Thala' to set the upcoming edition of the IPL ablaze. Dhoni had begun his training in Chennai from 2nd March amongst other CSK players including his long-time friend Suresh Raina ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2020.

For someone who has scored 4,432 runs, including 23 fifties, in 190 IPL matches, Dhoni doesn't need a thing to prove. But, while CSK will be looking to avenge their loss in the last season's final against Mumbai when they take the field at the Wankhede stadium in the tournament's opener, the upcoming season will hold key to Dhoni's future with Team India.
