For what the world has endured in 2020, the year 2019 will surely seem memorable now for many of us. But, not for Sanjay Manjrekar.Β
The Indian cricketer-turned-commentator would surely like to forget 2019 as arguably one of the worst years for him, personally. It was the same year when the 'bits and pieces' controversy earned him flak before an on-air spat with a fellow commentator spelt his doom.
The unwarranted antics of the 55-year-old commentator, eventually, led to his axing from BCCI's commentary panel earlier this year which forced him to watch the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) season from the sidelines.Β
After a relatively quieter year, Manjrekar was back with his critical assessments, perhaps a bit toned-down, of the cricketers.

While Pandya played the role of the aggressor early on, Jadeja took over from him in the death overs to accelerate the scoring rate. The left-hander smashed five fours and three sixes in his 50-ball innings that came at a strike-rate of 132, playing a key role in helping India post a competitive total of 302 runs.
A brilliant performance with the willow by Jadeja was eventually dubbed as a befitting response to Manjrekar's latest comments by fans on social media.Β Β
Many took to Twitter to troll the Indian commentator and probe him for a response on Jadeja's recent batting performance.

β Ajay Sharma (@Ajayes09) December 2, 2020Well, if you don't know when or where the cold war between Manjrekar and Jadeja began, here's a reminder.Β
"I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. I would rather have a batsman and a spinner," Majrekar had said during the World Cup in England last year.
