KASUR: A suspect, identified as Riffat Baba, under police custody was shot dead in an alleged police encounter near Khudian area here late Sunday night, police said.

The suspect?s accomplices opened fire on the police in an attempt to help him escape. Riffat Baba was shot dead in retaliatory firing by the police.

Riffat Baba had reportedly shot dead a journalist a few days back and was involved in 14 other cases.

On the other hand, an alleged police encounter near Gujranwala?s Awan Chowk led to two dacoits being killed when their accomplices opened fire on a police van, a police spokesperson said.

While being transported in a police van to recover weapons, the two suspects? accomplices opened fire, to which the police responded with reactionary gunfire, the spokesperson added.

Amid the chaos, both arrestees got killed by their own accomplices? firing. The accomplices, however, managed to escape.

Suspect nabbed in Karachi

Counter-Terrrorism Department (CTD) arrested early Monday morning a suspect, identified as Sheeraz Ahmed, during an operation in Rizvia area of Karachi.

According to the CTD, the suspect would molest children and then upload those videos on the internet.

A mobile phone, computers and video-making equipment was seized from the suspect?s possession.
