WATCH: ‘Andar Hi Rakhna’ Rishabh Pant’s Verbal Hints Help Ashwin Delete Matthew Wade Early

Returning to the Indian Test team ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Rishabh Pant replaced a struggling Wriddhiman Saha as the wicket-keeper and instantly had an impact on the match.

Pant, known for being extremely vocal from behind the wicket and trying to help his bowlers as much as possible, gave some excellent advice to Ravichandran Ashwin to dismiss Australian opener Matthew Wade in the 13th over of the first innings.

Trying to make Ashwin feel a bit out of his skin early in his bowling spell, Wade smashed the spinner for a sweeping boundary on the fourth ball of his second over.

This is when Pant realised that the Australian batter was trying to do and gave his two cents on the scenario.

Translation: Keep it inside(stumps), he will try to hit!
And the next ball Wade hits in the air!

“Andar hi rakhna, ye maarega (keep it at the stumps, he will hit),” Pant’s voice was picked up on the stump mics and that’s exactly what happened on the delivery that followed.

Trying to intimidate Ashwin with a back-to-back boundary, Wade walked down the pitch to swing for a big one but ended up not connecting properly and the ball flew towards the leg where Ravindra Jadeja managed to catch it despite the chances of miscommunication with Shubman Gill fielding nearby.
