KARACHI: A notice was served to Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal for violating court orders by attempting to make the incumbent inspector general of police, A D Khawaja, non-functional.

According to the lawyer, Advocate Faisal Siddiqi, the Sindh High Court had ordered the provincial government to neither remove Khawaja from the post of IGP nor to appoint Sardar Abdul Majeed in his place, until further court orders were received.

However, the notice read, by sidelining Khawaja from the meeting of police officials on May 25, Siyal tried to nullify the court orders.

Therefore, Siyal was told that if he continued with his "contemptuous action" legal proceedings would be instituted against him.

Siddiqi was representing rights activist, Karamat Ali, who had taken to the court against the removal of Khawaja.

In his meeting with police officials on May 25, Siyal said the law and order situation of Sindh was better before Khawaja had taken charge.
