‘Ready To Take A Bullet For India’ Fans Salute Jadeja For Padding Up Despite Dislocated Thumb

Day 5 of the third Test between India and Australia suddenly came in winning distance after the first session of Rishabh Pant going ballistic at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Cheteshwar Pujara holding the fort on the other end of the pitch.

Unfortunately, the 23-year-old could not get his much deserved century as he lofted a catch to Pat Cummins on slip against a Nathan Lyon delivery in the 80th over of the second innings.

Due to various issues such as players leaving the team for personal reasons, injuries and bad form, the middle order for the Men in Blue was struggling to find that match finishing batsman who could drive home the victory.

While Pujara and Hanuma Vihari were making strides towards the ultimate goal slowly, the cameraman caught an inspiring glimpse of the Indian dressing room, wherein ‘three dimensional player’ Ravindra Jadeja was seen padding up.

Immediately, the Indian social media erupted with immense respect in their hearts towards the relentless cricketer’s commitment towards his team:

Jadeja is wearing gloves. He is next to bat with thumb injury!!

Jadeja who came out of a hamstring injury to play in the third Test was once again injured during the first innings of the Sydney Test. A blistering ball from Mitchell Starc smacked against Jadeja’s left thumb and the way it recoiled, it was evident that the cricketer would be under immense pain.

Later it was confirmed that he’d indeed suffered a dislocation in his thumb and was doubtful to play further during the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
