When we see someone hailing from a non-privileged background succeed, it's always special. Fighting all the odds stacked against them, and they still come out on top... there's no better feeling.

And, that's why Manya Singh's success is that much more special.

The parents who once struggled to make ends meet and educate their daughter are absolutely proud of everything Manya has achieved. 

Daughter of an auto-rickshaw driver, she not only made her parents proud but everyone in the country after she was crowned the runner-up of Miss India 2020 competition.

Recently, she was invited by her alma mater Thakur College of Science and Commerce in Mumbai for a felicitation ceremony and of course, she made a grand entrance.

Arriving in an auto driven by her father, she was also accompanied by a grand auto rally. 

After reaching, she's also seen wiping away tears from her parents' eyes in the most emotional moment.

Recently, while talking to Bombay Times, her mother Manorama said, "Everyone wants their children to have the best clothes and food, but Manya could see how much her father struggled to earn every rupee. She didn’t ever insist on things that she knew we can’t afford. To make ends meet, she took up a job where she sliced and juiced about 10 kilos of lemons a day. She also washed dishes but told me that she’s a server. She didn’t tell me the truth because she knew I would feel bad. Then, when her hands began to bear bandages because of the cuts, she could not hide it. I had to stop her from working and I took up a job at a beauty salon while she switched to working at a call centre."

And, it was all worth it as her parents stood with her on the stage, with so much pride and happiness in their eyes.

Before being crowned, Manya had said, "My blood, sweat and tears have amalgamated into food for the soul and courage to pursue my dreams. To uplift my father, my mother, and my young brother, here I am today to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself."

Talking to DNA, Manya said, "Now, I finally have the chance to give my parents everything; I’m going to start by buying them a home. They’ve supported me relentlessly. Papa believed in a 14-year-old’s frivolous dream of making it big in the city. He believed in me…& that’s why, today, a rickshaw driver’s daughter is standing with a crown on her head."

Manya definitely is one of the biggest inspirations for every young person in the country and her sheer hard work and her love for her parents is absolutely commendable.
