CARDIFF: New Zealand pacer Adam Milne struck early to dismiss Jason Roy after the Kiwis won the toss and opted to field against England in a thriller Group A tie at the Cardiff Wales Stadium on Tuesday.

Title favourites England, who thrashed Bangladesh in their Champions Trophy opener last week, will seal their spot in the semifinals if they win today. 

New Zealand, meanwhile, will look to gain crucial two points with a win against Eoin Morgan?s men, after they were forced to share points with Australia after their first match was washed out by rain.

New Zealand have won six of their last seven matches against England in 50-over world tournaments (World Cup and Champions Trophy). The Black Caps? only defeat came in the 2013 Champions Trophy, which was also in Cardiff.

'We´ve got a completely new team'

England captain Eoin Morgan has insisted his side have learnt the lessons from their "men against boys" defeat by New Zealand at the 2015 World Cup as they prepare to face the Black Caps in the Champions Trophy.

Two years ago, England´s woeful first-round exit from the last International Cricket Council 50-over tournament included a humiliating eight-wicket thrashing by New Zealand in Wellington.

"But I think it´s completely different now -- two years down the line. We´ve got a completely new team, pretty much," said Morgan.

New Zealand will look to revive their Champions Trophy campaign by beating England in Cardiff. 

Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain, lived up to his billing as one of the world´s best batsmen with a superb hundred in their Group A opener against Australia at Edgbaston on Friday.

Tuesday´s match is now all the more important to New Zealand´s bid to get out of the four-strong group and reach the semi-finals of a tournament featuring the world´s top eight ODI teams.

But New Zealand opener Martin Guptill said the side would draw strength from their showing against Australia -- the team that beat them in the 2015 World Cup final.

"It´s very much a new-look England side over the last couple of years, and it´s worked very well for them," said Guptill.

"We play our way, and they play their way, which is a similar brand, and it works for both teams."
