Pak vs SL: Twitter Destroys Pakistan Cricket Board For Adding An Extra 200 Runs To The Lankan Total

After 'tech savvy' it is 'social media savvy' that has become synonymous with today's generation. Whether it's activism, dissemination of information or even networking, social media has become a pivotal platform to reach the masses. From multinational companies to high-profile politicians, social networking portals seem to have become an integral part of the society. And, the world of cricket isn't spared either.

While the cricketers have managed to strike a chord with the fans through their social media profiles, the various cricket boards of different playing nations, too, have been seen riding the wave. From the cash-rich BCCI to the ever-enthusiastic Cricket Australia, the boards have been using social media to generate the buzz around their respective teams.

Thousands of fans follow the various cricket boards in a bid to stay updated about their games, trivia and all the other news about their favourite teams. Amid a heavy fan following and during a tournament like the ICC Champions Trophy, the margin for error for the cricket boards is very less and a gaffe can surely leave them red-faced - something the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) learnt the hard way.

During a virtual knock-out clash between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the PCB was understandably updating their fans about the key events of the game when they mistakenly tweeted: "OUT! Kusal Mendis (27) b Hasan Ali. Sri Lanka: 282/2 (14.5 ov)".

At first glance, nothing really seemed to be wrong with that tweet. But, those who were watching the game would have clearly noticed that Sri Lanka had lost two wickets at the score of 82 runs and not 282 in 14.5 overs.

While the tweet was a rare documented error from the PCB, the fans, however, couldn't help but poke fun at the board for adding another 200 runs to the Lankan total.

Well, we kind of feel for PCB there. After all, updating a live blog and tweeting simultaneously about all the key events during an ongoing cricket match is not really a walk in the park.
