At a time when the entire country has been left resourceless and almost faithless in its battle with the catastrophic second wave of Covid-19, BJP MP Pragya Thakur has gone on to make a joke of the deadly virus by stating that cow urine can be used to cure lung infection caused by Covid.

The double mutated strain of the virus, which has squeezed the breath out of the country's citizens is known to attack the lungs of a patient in serious cases of infections with people's oxygen levels depleting as a result of it.

However, at a time when people across the country have been scrambling for important medications for treating the infection, Pragya Thakur revealed that she drinks cow urine every day in order to protect herself from the virus.

"If we have desi gau mutra (urine from an indigenous cow) every day, then it cures lung infection from Covid. I am in deep pain but I take cow urine every day. So now, I don't have have to take any medicine against corona and I don't have corona. Cow urine is a life-saver," said the self-proclaimed saffron-robed saint.

Her claims come at a time when doctors across the country have been warning citizens against the usage of unproven alternative cures offered for the coronavirus.

As per the Indian Medical Association, there has been no scientific evidence that suggests that cow urine or dung can help in the treatment and prevention of Covid-19. "There is no concrete scientific evidence that cow dung or urine boosts immunity against COVID-19," said Dr. JA Jayalal, the head of the medical body, while speaking to Reuters.

Well, regardless of cow urine helping with the virus or not, the BJP MP's statements clearly helped people on social media share a quick laugh in what has been a tough time in the country for everyone.
