Due to the rising Covid-19 cases in the country, many states have announced strict curbs and lockdowns to keep the number of cases down, restricting people from attending social events.
However, with Dutta's girlfriend having a birthday party in Dhekiajuli town, he decided that he had to be there for her big day, and disguised himself as the Magistrate of Titabor to get past police checkpoints.
According to reports, Dutta rented a car to attend the party and even got a printout reading "District Magistrate" in the front of the car. Not only that, but Dutta also deceived the car driver by promising him to pay him.
"I took him to a birthday party and he told me he will stay there. I was asked to go back and he called me again and I took him to many areas. My overall oil expenses were around Rs 5000," the driver told the Sentinel Assam.
However, his party plans were foiled by the Assam Police who caught him in the middle of the journey and then detained him.
Not only that, according to the police, this was not Dutta's first incident of claiming to be another person.
