You Can Now Hide Embarrassing Photos On Instagram As The Archive Feature Finally Rolls Out

Instagram has released a new update which highlights a new feature where users can hide their images from the public. It lets users archive old pictures or videos that they do not want to be visible on their profile/grid.

These images that are “archived” move to a private tab which can only be accessed by the user. The archived posts can also be restored in case a user changes his/her mind. In order to archive an image, one has to go to the specific post, click options where one can edit, share, delete and turn off comments, you will now see the ‘Archive’ option as well.

The Archive feature is now live in the latest version of Instagram i.e. 10.21. The app can be downloaded/updated from the App Store on iOS or the Google Play store for Android users. On the upgraded version of Instagram, the Archive section can be accessed by tapping on the clock or the rewind arrow icon. Restoring archived images will restore the photos back to their original place. “If you change your mind about a post you’ve archived, tap “Show on Profile” at any time and it’ll show up in its original spot,” Instagram’s blog post reads.

Apart from archiving images, users still have the option to completely delete images which means that you do not have to worry about that feature going away anytime soon. When a user archives a photo, their followers do not get notified and the case remains the same when an image is restored too. The archive features a sound useful for editing captions when people make a mistake and it deters people from completely deleting a post.
