Samantha Akkineni has made a name for herself in the South Indian film Industry. She is one of the highest-paid actresses with more than 40 films to her credit in a career spanning just 10 years.

However, her fans absolutely cannot wait to see her in Hindi films. But Akkineni has a reason why she hasn’t signed a Bollywood film yet.

It is because she is scared. Of what, you ask? The talent in the Hindi film industry.

She spoke to an entertainment portal recently and upon being asked why hasn’t made a Bollywood debut, she said, “Because maybe I am scared? (laughs) The talent here is amazing. I am scared.”

She will appear in season 2 of the Hindi web series, Amazon Prime original The Family Man 2, in which she is playing the antagonist, Rajalekshmi Chandran, opposite Manoj Bajpayee.

In an earlier interview with PTI, Samantha had spoken up about how she doesn’t want to start from point zero in Hindi films.

She said, "In Hindi films, I don't have the energy to do the same thing again and get back to the point to where I want to do work that I want to do. In regional films, I am in a position to pick out-of-the-box roles but if I do Hindi films I won't get that opportunity."

She said she signed The Family Man because she felt OTT leads to more opportunities for everyone involved in the project. 

“I would have never been keen to do a Hindi feature film and when I was given an opportunity to do a web series and play a role that is different, I jumped at it. OTT has opened up possibility for stars, actors and technicians from regional cinema," she said.

However, when asked about which actor she would like to be cast with in a romantic Bollywood film, she said, “Ranbir Kapoor.” 

We think they would make a great pair for a classic Hindi rom-com.

Seems like it is going to be a little while until she signs a Hindi film. Until then, we cannot wait to see her in the powerful role in The Family Man, releasing on June 4, 2021.
