Badass Bengaluru Startup CEOs Arm Gets Ripped Off By A Crocodile While Trying To Save His Dogs

Mudit Dandwate, CEO of a Bengaluru based tech startup, just wanted to save his two dogs, who had jumped into a lake, but, sadly, that heroic act cost him his left arm.Β

The Founder and CEO of Turtle Shell Technologies entered a restricted area of Bengaluru's Thattekere Lake in Ramanagara district. His dogs were excited to see a water body, and jumped inside. Since he was worried about them, he also jumped inside to help them, but he failed to notice the signboard that warned of the presence of crocodiles in the lake.

Just as he was getting his dogs to safety, a crocodile attacked him and tore off his arm. He was rushed to a local hospital for first aid and then was operated on at Hosmat Hospital, and is in recovery as of now.Β

The Times of India quoted Thomas Chandy, Chief of Orthopaedics, as saying, "A crocodile bite is powerful and has crushed the arm, just like in the case of any industrial accident. But crocodile bite is toxic as well. So we are currently performing medical procedure called debridement, where is hand is being cleaned several time to make sure there is no infection."

Since the chances of Mudit regaining his arm are quite bleak, the doctors said that he would be given a prosthetic arm in another three months.Β

Dr Ajith Benedict Rayan, Medical Director of Hosmat hospital, was quoted as saying, "His condition is stabilised and he is now out of the ICU and in a ward."

Although there wasn't any complaint filed against Mudit, the police themselves have registered a case as he entered a restricted forest area without permission, especially when there were warning signs placed along the periphery of the lake.
