‘Gareeb Franchise’, Fans Mock Dhoni’s CSK For Not Arranging Charter Flight For Its Players

With the England-India Test series coming to a disappointing conclusion in Manchester, the Indian Premier League franchises have gone into an overdrive, making arrangements to bring their players to the United Arab Emirates.

Leading the way, defending champions Mumbai Indians booked a charter flight for their three players Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav and they have already reached the Gulf nation.

“Mumbai Indians flew in three of its Indian contingent members, captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav, to Abu Dhabi on a private charter flight. The trio, along with their families, arrived today morning and will now undergo 6 days hard quarantine, starting today as per the IPL’s guidelines,” MI said in a statement.

“All members had returned negative RT PCR results before departure. A new RT PCR test was undertaken upon arrival at Abu Dhabi, which came out negative as well,” it added.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have also stated it would arrange a charter plane for Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj, while Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings players have already left England in a commercial plane.

Amidst all this Cricbuzz reported that the MS Dhoni’s franchise Chennai Super Kings would not be arranging any charter planes for its players and that they would be travelling on a commercial flight.

A total of five CSK players are there in England at the moment, including two Englishmen Moeen Ali and Sam Curran. CSK have asked its three Indian players Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Cheteshwar Pujara to board a commercial flight tonight.

It led to a war of words among fans on social media and many fans started mocking the Chennai-based outfit for their inability to book a charter flight for its star players.

The second half of IPL 2021 is set to resume on September 19, with a mega clash between CSK and MI -- two of the most successful sides in the history of the tournament. When the 14th edition got postponed mid-way through the season in May due to COVID-19 outbreak, Dhoni’s team was placed second on the points table, while Rohit’s side was occupying the last playoff spot.

No team in the history has won three IPL titles in a row and Mumbai would be looking to etch their name in history books with golden colours.
