2022 is a good year for the box office and we say that after witnessing one hit after the other.
And while most of these films have been commercial and mass-y blockbusters, a few have really hit home with what they’ve managed to showcase. Case in point, The Kashmir Files.
Directed by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, The Kashmir Files is based on the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir and the genocide that followed and witnessed the brutal deaths of hundreds of innocent Kashmiri Pandits.

The film ended up impressing a lot of people and impacting them despite not being extravagant in promotions, and it seems like we finally know the reason behind the success.

In the words of superstar Abhishek Bachchan, The Kashmir Files was a success because it was a legit ‘good film’.
In an interview with Times Now Navbharat, Junior Bachchan gave his unabashed view on the film The Kashmir Files, and while many are calling his take on the movie ‘diplomatic’, Twitter is by and large impressed with what he had to say.
    Respect, @juniorbachchan pic.twitter.com/IuLElloZmr
    — Abhijit Majumder (@abhijitmajumder) March 31, 2022
He goes on to say how people will inevitably watch a movie only if it’s good.
“You were talking about The Kashmir Files. We’ve been talking for two or three days that you should politicize it, you should communalise it, that’s your opinion, but if the film isn’t good then it won’t work. There is no other reason for it to work. You can derive different meanings and ripple effects from it. Yet it is not for me to speak because I have not seen the film. But I haven’t heard from anyone that it’s a bad movie.”
    Being diplomatic !!
    — zeus (@mehta_life) March 31, 2022
That is the only truth of cinema. If a movie does good business-wise, it has to be a good film, else it won’t work,” concluded Abhishek Bachchan.
Several users have commented on this clip of Junior Bachchan, that is already getting a lot of traction.
    Thank you Abhishek for acknowledging
    — Medicine (@viral3198) March 31, 2022That's totally true!!! You may differ in opinion about the treatment but the fact is movie is rocking and masses are not fools.
    — Akbar Dhanani (@akbardhanani) March 31, 2022Agree it’s a good film Though ! But ppl wanted to minimum know what really had happened to #KashmiriPandits #KashmiriHindus when the history was completely distorted by #Nehruvian /#Gandhis and that is y #kashmirifiles had all this success! My opinion
    — Nithish Balakrishnan (@nvk_vk) March 31, 2022@juniorbachchan - I have not watched it too. But i love your answer and top of it. What a new look, keep it for a while you seems to me like a intellect and deep thinker author in your new look.
    — HEMA4002 (@hema4002) March 31, 2022 One user wrote, “Thank you for acknowledging Abhishek”, while another one commented, “I have not watched it too. But i love your answer and top of it. What a new look, keep it for a while you seems to me like a intellect and deep thinker author in your new look.”
    आपने #TheKashmiriFiles देखी क्यूँ नहीं है भई ?
    — Surabhi Choudhary (@chsurabhi) March 31, 2022#Kashmirfiles you haven't watch then who will watch your movie #Abhishekbachhan
    — Raaj Gupta (@Raaj_rauniyar) March 31, 2022 People also wondered why he hadn’t watched the film yet and urged him to do so, lest he wants people to not see his upcoming film Dasvi which will be released on 7th April.

It’s not easy to end a marriage. It takes months for the unhappy couple to contemplate whether they should take the drastic, life-changing step or not.
It’s even more complicated in India since a divorce or a broken marriage is seen as a social stigma and as the worst that could happen to any desi kid.

Most young people today fear getting married, especially in an arranged set-up, because of this very reason.

If your likes and dislikes don’t match and you find out that you are not compatible with your partner that your parents found you, you are left with only two choices–live unhappily ever after or stand up for yourself and your happiness and end it.

A guy going through a similar situation asked Reddit men what it’s like being divorced in India. He wrote, he is “in a very strained marriage, both very unhappy and contemplating divorce, fear and social stigma is the main thing holding us back. what to know what to expect if we do it.”

And, to our surprise, the answers are not scary, rather heartwarming.
    1. “I got married and divorced at 27 within 3 months. She cheated on me and I filed for divorce. 5 years have passed quickly but I found my purpose in life and eventually started dating, found a girl who gets me and am now pretty confident that I will marry her in a year or two. If we don't get married for some godforsaken reason, I will continue on my path and not afraid of dying alone.” –Bombaysux

    2. “Got married 2.5 years ago, the girl left 10 days later, turned out it was an alimony trap all along and there was another guy. We finally reached a mutual consent agreement now, after 2+ years of mindless courtroom bickering. Living alone has been great and no one really judged me. I was lucky enough to have a family that had their full support.” –butyl_bladder

    3. “My friend's brother Married his long time college girlfriend in a very fancy wedding. Divorced within 7 months. She got into an arranged marriage and now he has a son. He's very happy.” –DangerousIntercourse
    © Colour Yellow Productions
    4. “Arrange married at 27, stayed a year together. I had filed under mental cruelty section.. due to very abusive wife. That shit played for 5 years, finally divorced in Jan this year. I would say in metro/metro-like cities.. it doesn’t matter that much... no one cares. But boy if you wanna remarry.. people ask weird questions... I was asked if I beat my wife? Was I impotent? Did she cheat? Did I cheat?...I am not a monster if I am divorced….Life sucked for that time.” –vaibhavdeveloper

    5. “It is best to leave a sinking ship than living miserable for the rest of your life mate, seen too many around me. You still have time.” –tpzck

Getting divorced is not the end of the world but can be the beginning of a happier life for both of you.

As the first quarter of this year has passed, I get a sense that this year isn’t as great as I hoped it would be. And I don’t just say this in a personal context, especially since Bollywood actor Salman Khan would agree when I say this, for his year also hasn’t had the kind of a start he was hoping for.
    © Salman Khan
Drowning in a pool of controversies, and not good ones, Tiger actor Salman Khan is once again under the spotlight after he sued his neighbour in Panvel for defamation.

One would think that the Dabangg star doesn’t have much to worry about since he’s the one who has filed the case, but seems like there is a plot twist where the court has observed that ‘defamatory’ comments made by the neighbour--NRI Ketan Kakkad--are seemingly supported by ‘evidence’.
    © Salman Khan
For the unversed, the feud between the two started after actor Salman Khan allegedly created a gate that stopped Kakkad’s entry to his own land (which was right next to Khan’s farmhouse).

Soon after, Salman Khan filed a defamation suit against Kakkad where he claimed that Ketan made several defamatory statements and remarks against the actor and his family on Facebook live.

Ketan’s advocate on the other hand argued in court saying, “This is a land issue, under the garb of a defamation suit, they don’t want me to fight for my land. There were disputes relating to the land between the two neighbours and the actor has not come up with clean hands and hence, the suit should be dismissed.”
    © Twitter
Ketan had even claimed that there were several illegal activities taking place at the farmhouse. The judge, after thoroughly examining the tweets and videos placed on record said, “The defendant (Ketan) contended that he is a whistle-blower to the illegal acts done by the plaintiff (Salman) and he made imputations in public interest by taking reasonable precautions by producing documentary material in support of the same.”

Thanks for this brilliant legalistic coverage. Message to all Richy rich stars and law breakers that law will catch you someday#barandbench -
Evidence justifies allegations against Salman Khan: Mumbai Court https://t.co/Wps0gz9Uzl
    — Abha Singh (@abhasinghlawyer) March 31, 2022
Finally, the court ruled saying, “Therefore, at preliminary stage. ...as the plaintiff failed to explain innuendo, how it relates to him, and the defendant raised the plea of justification which is prima facie supported by documentary evidence… I am not inclined to grant an injunction to the plaintiff.”

Marking the directorial debut of Hitesh Bhatia, Sharmaji Namkeen is Rishi Kapoor’s swansong, his final appearance in a film and it will surely leave you with a smile on your face by the end of it.
The movie is about a retired BG Sharma (Rishi Kapoor & Paresh Rawal) who is 58-years-old and tries different things to keep himself occupied until one day he realises that cooking is his true passion.
He has two sons (Suhail Nayyar & Taaruk Raina) who are often busy in their own lives leaving Sharmaji to himself.
After realising his passion for cooking, Sharmaji starts leading a dual life without telling his family. But one day, his secret is revealed and what happens next forms the rest of the story.

This is probably the first time in Hindi cinema that the main character in the film is played by two different actors. Initially, it becomes a bit confusing but once you get used to it, Sharmaji Namkeen wins you over as an audience.

It is a unique coming of age story of a senior citizen and takes you through a range of emotions. The screenplay is laced with humour, drama, some over the top scenes towards the end and a lot of heart.
And what works even more than its narrative is its well-written characters and seamless editing.
There are certain scenes where Rishi Kapoor goes into a house and Paresh Rawal comes out and you buy it because of both the actors’ earnest performance and director Hitesh Bhatia’s execution.
There is a sequence in particular where Rishi Kapoor’s character watches a video of himself on TV. Interestingly, the video features Paresh Rawal.
    © Amazon Prime Video
Coming to the performances, if not for anything, watch this movie for Rishi Kapoor’s final act. He was such a beautiful actor and it’s hard not to fall in love with his character.

Paresh Rawal had a tough task ahead as he had to not only take over from where Rishi Kapoor left but also had to be in sync with the kind of performance the legendary star was going for. And he has done a commendable job.
As I mentioned above, it didn’t feel like after a point that there were two different actors playing the same role.
It was good to see Juhi Chawla in a meatier role after ages. She is as good as she was back in the day and even better.
Suhail Nayyar plays his character well and his equation with Rishi Kapoor/ Paresh Rawal is the highlight.
Taaruk Raina provides good support and so does an always outstanding Sheeba Chaddha and a brilliant Satish Kaushik.
    © Amazon Prime Video
Overall, Sharmaji Namkeen is a little film with a lot of heart that will leave you with a smile.

P.S.: The end credits of the film features outtakes of Rishi Kapoor and it is simply heart-warming.

RRR, directed by Baahubali helmer SS Rajamouli, is breaking several records at the box office globally. In the Hindi markets too, the pan-India film is witnessing a record-breaking trend and has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark. Featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead roles, the movie also stars Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in small yet significant characters.

Recently, there was a buzz that Alia is unhappy with her role in RRR. According to several reports, she's upset with her brief screen space and has unfollowed Rajamouli on social media besides deleting posts related to the film.
The actress, who is basking in the huge success of Gangubai Kathiawadi, has finally reacted to the ongoing speculations. Taking to social media, Alia posted a long note clearing the rumours of being upset with Rajamouli.
    View this post on Instagram
Taking to her Instagram stories, she wrote, "In today's randomness, I've heard that I apparently deleted my RRR posts because I am upset with the team".
Clearing the speculations about deleting RRR related posts from her social media page, Alia stated, "I sincerely request everyone to not make assumptions based on something as random as the Instagram grid. I ALWAYS realign old video posts from my profile grid because I prefer it to look less cluttered".
Sharing her thoughts about working with Rajamouli, she added, "I am eternally grateful that I got to be a part of the world of RRR. I loved playing Sita, I loved being directed by Rajamouli sir, I loved working with Tarak and Charan- I loved every single thing about my experience on the film. The only reason I am bothering to clarify this because Rajamouli Sir and the team have put in years of effort and energy to bring this beautiful film to life and I refuse to let any misinformation around the film and experience slide".
Take a look at her Insta story below:

While promoting his latest release Attack, John Abraham, it seems, has decided to go as unfiltered as possible.
From refusing to talk about The Kashmir Files, and saying Kapil Sharma Show promotions don’t guarantee a hit to calling out the usage of item numbers in films, John has been on fire.

And now, his latest statement may once again ruffle some feathers, especially, amongst the fans of Telugu cinema.

It so happened that recently, in an interview, with India.com, John was asked about the rumour that he will be seen alongside Prabhas in his upcoming film Salaar directed by Prashanth Neel of KGF fame.
John not only quashed the rumour but also went on to say that he will never do a regional film as he is a Hindi film hero.
He said, “I will never do a regional film. I am a Hindi film hero. I will never do a film as a second lead just to be there. I am not going to do a Telugu or any regional film like other actors just to be in that business.”
Meanwhile, “Telugu film” RRR directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt & Ajay Devgn has been on a historic run at the global box office.

Bowling a dot ball in the shortest format of the game is considered to be gold dust. It doesn’t matter how skillful a bowler is, he is always behind the eight ball with batters looking to smack him all over the park.
The dot balls can still be achieved, if a bowler sticks to his game plan and bowls according to the set field. However, what’s not easy is bowling six dot balls on the trot. It’s a herculean task for any bowler. Records tell us that bowling a maiden over is more difficult than picking up a wicket.
    View this post on Instagram
In the last 15 years, only 120 bowlers have managed to bowl a maiden over in the IPL. Given the fact that hundreds of players have graced this league since its inception in 2008, it’s a pretty small number.

If we filter it out to include bowlers who have bowled more than one over in their IPL career, the number drops down to 61, almost half of the original figure, which tells how difficult of a task it is.

The reason why I am giving you all this ‘gyaan’ is to make you understand how brilliant Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) medium pacer Harshal Patel was the other night during their game against last year’s finalists Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Patel, who was the biggest revelation for RCB last year, was bought for a whopping Rs 10.75 crore in the mega auction and his performance against KKR showed why the franchise were so hell-bent on acquiring his services.
    View this post on Instagram
The Sanand-born, who plays domestic cricket for Haryana, justified his price tag on Wednesday, returning an impressive figures of 2/11 from his four overs. Bowling in the middle phase of KKR innings, the 31-year-old bowled not one but two maiden overs which dried up the runs and forced them to play expansive shots which led to their downfall.
Bowling two maiden overs in a  single match is a rare achievement in IPL. So rare that before Harshal, this was only achieved once in the last 15 years. Incidentally, the first bowler who achieved this huge feat was also a RCB pacer.
    View this post on Instagram
Siraj had scripted history against KKR during IPL 2020. His bowling figures on the night read four overs, two maidens, eight runs, and three wickets.
Coming back to Harshal, it was a brilliant turnaround for the RCB star who had leaked 36 runs in their previous match which they lost to Punjab Kings while defending 205 runs. With his spell he announced himself for the first time this season and increased the hopes of RCB fans.
The supporters flocked the micro-blogging site and praised his outstanding bowling display. The reason why the RCB fans were pumped was because he achieved this bowling against one of the most destructive batters in world cricket – Andre Russell.
What a player he is turning out to be , bas Nazar na lagey kisi ki .

    — Anshu Raj (@nshubolega) March 30, 2022 Harshal has witnessed a meteoric rise in the last 12 months and RCB fans would be hoping he continues on the same path and gets hold of that Purple Cap this year as well.
