Ahead of their inaugural season in the world’s biggest cricket league, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had put together a solid squad and were all set to make a mark in the tournament.
    Get well soon @MAWood33

However, with just days left in the 15th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), the tournament's most expensive franchise suffered a major blow as their pace spearhead Mark Wood was ruled out of the whole tournament due to an injury.

It was the worst possible news for the franchise and it left them in race against time to find a suitable replacement. Ideally a bowler who bowls as the English speedster but unfortunately there aren’t many like him.
LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir, who played a key role in devising the team’s auction strategy, zeroed in on Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed and wanted him to join the squad as soon as possible.

Bangladesh Cricket Board refuses to give No-Objection Certificate

There is only one Bangladeshi player in the IPL this year – –  and the Uttar Pradesh-based outfit had hoped that getting Ahmed onboard wouldn’t be that difficult. After all, who would want to let go of this golden opportunity to be a part of the world’s biggest T20 competition.
However, the LSG management was up for another setback as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) denied its fast bowler the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the upcoming IPL 2022.

The decision was taken in view of Bangladesh’s important bi-lateral series – the ongoing tour of South Africa and the home series against Sri Lanka.

“Since we have two important series like the ongoing home tour of South Africa and the home series against Sri Lanka, we feel it won't be right for him to take part in the IPL,” BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“We have spoken with Taskin and he has understood the whole situation. He informed the franchise that he is not playing the IPL and will be available for the South Africa tour and later will return back home,” the BCB official added.

The BCB’s stand has forced the Lucknow-based franchise to look for another option and with not many quality options available, the KL Rahul-led outfit is running against time to find an ideal replacement

The amount of money many overseas players earn in the IPL by playing for only two months is way more than what they fetch in the entire year representing their respective countries. So, naturally, many of them had started to prioritise the IPL over their national duty.

Ahead of this season, several top South African cricketers have reportedly made themselves available for the upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh so that they don’t miss any of the IPL encounters.

With IPL’s growing influence, there were fears that more and more players would become a part of this trend and that the result would be catastrophic for international cricket.

However, the BCB’s courageous stand in Ahmed’s case has shown that it is possible for cricket boards to dictate terms and ensure that their players value the bi-lateral fixtures more than anything else.

Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi has been vindicated after the Mumbai High Court gave him a clean chit in the IPL Media Rights case. After getting the decision in his favour, Lalit Modi has threatened to take the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the court.
Living in exile in the UK, Lalit Modi was the mastermind behind the IPL and he has been banned for life by the BCCI since 2013 for financial irregularities.

    — News9 (@News9Tweets) December 16, 2013
Modi claimed that the IPL will go on to become a big entertainment property globally, adding that he single-handedly created the IPL for free of cost.
"Time is a factor, I single-handedly built the IPL. Not that I care but the BCCI banned me for life. Guess what I made recession (economic slowdown of 2008) Modi proof. Mark my words it will be a global showpiece from India. It will be a big entertainment property globally. And I did it free of cost for my country to watch on TV," Lalit Modi was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Modi further alleged that his children were refused entry even on a paid ticket, claiming that the board members are scared of him. He promised to go after everyone by taking them to the court.
    LALIT MODI READY TO SUE

The Bombay High Court declared that the Rs. 425 cr facilitation fee in IPL broadcast rights was legal.
Lalit Modi feels vindicated on hearing this judgement and said that he 'will sue all in UK and see the fun'.#LalitModi #IPL2022 #IPL #India pic.twitter.com/86rbHdbMiA

"The sad part is the petty members, who live off my creation, are so scared of my shadow that they even refused entry to my children on a paid ticket. Only question now is what will media say - fugitive? Go ahead try. Now I will sue all in UK, then see the fun (sic)," Modi added.
The 56-year-old businessman took to Instagram to share his thoughts after the verdict and said that justice is delivered.

Modi's statement came after the Bombay High Court set aside an arbitral award that upheld BCCI's cancellation of IPL media rights to the World Sports Group India (WSGI). The High Court also stated that the facilitation fee of Rs 425 crore that led to Modi's exit from the BCCI and the IPL was legal.
Justice BP Colabawala ruled that the WSGI, which initially held the IPL rights for 2008-17, helped BCCI earn Rs 1791 crore more and acted in the interest of the BCCI.
The Lalit Modi vs BCCI case has been running for years and after the judgement by the Bombay High Court, it looks like the founder of the biggest cricket league in the world is set to ruffle some feathers in Indian cricket.

Being one of the biggest and the most popular stars on this planet, Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t necessarily need to make a comment on any controversy to find himself dragged in it.
Back in 2017, he stated this fact in a funny manner in AIB podcast and it still stands true for him.
It so happened that post the release and massive success of The Kashmir Files at the box office, a section of the audience started questioning director Vivek Agnihotri about not sharing the profit he earned from the film with the Kashmiri Pandits who faced the exodus.

Defending the filmmaker, a journalist tweeted that Vivek Agnihotri has the right to earn profit and not share it with anyone. The journo then dragged Shah Rukh Khan into the controversy by adding that nobody asked the superstar to share his profits from his films.

His tweet read, “Profit is not a bad word, India has suffered enough since independence where the narrative looked down on commercial success. @vivekagnihotri has the right to earn profit, no 1 asked Shah Rukh Khan to distribute commercial profit, so why discriminate with #TheKasmirFiles ?”
    Check out his tweet below:

Soon after he randomly dragged Shah Rukh Khan in a controversy that has nothing to do with him, a lot of SRK fans were reminded of his quote from the AIB podcast where he talked about people using his name in a controversy he has nothing to do with. He can be heard saying in the clip, “Has my name come up in this? Because I have not said anything. I have not spoken to anyone. My name has come up? And this gentleman was standing with me. He said, ‘Yes, there are 100 retweets in your name.’ I am not there. I didn’t make a comment.”

A few other fans also schooled the journo for being ill-informed as Shah Rukh Khan did share the first day earnings of Dilwale with Chennai flood victims and a part Chennai Express profit for Uttarakhand flood victims. Fans also reminded him of the time when SRK helped a Kashmiri Pandit family in distress.
One fan tweeted, “Srk ne Kisi k name par ya kisi par banakar pese nahi kamaye ... fir bhi ho ban pada wo kiya hai... Kashmir Files Kashmir Pandito k name par banayi hai to Agnihotri dega profit share to badi baat nahi hai...”
Another wrote, “The thing is #ShahRukhKhan𓀠 doesn’t need to make a movie on a true incident to prove his deshbhakti like that director who once passed cheap comments regarding women’s safety linking it to Tata Nano, if you know what I mean @pradip103”.

19-year-old kid, Pardeep Mehra, has become an overnight social media sensation thanks to an interaction with filmmaker Vinod Kapri. The teenager, who is a Mcdonald’s employee, was spotted running on the streets of Noida in the late hours of the night, as a part of his preparations for the Indian Army.

People across social media showered Pardeep, who was on his way back from his daily 10 km run, with praises, lauding him for his ironclad determination. He has been called a ‘Hero’ by the Minister of Women and Child Development of India, Smriti Irani, as she said, “As a parent, you are always on the lookout for examples your kids can learn from, values they can imbibe, life lessons that leave a lasting impression. They say heroes come with feet of clay but some heroes hit the ground running .. they inspire as they aspire .. Pardeep .. a hero hopeful for a place in the Indian Army now firmly placed in the heart of millions of Indians.. an inspiration.. (sic)”

While most 19 year-olds would have gotten swayed by such newfound fame, Pardeep, however, is built differently. Filmmaker Vinod Kapri caught up with him, once again, a day after Mehra’s ongoing tryst with virality and shared the interaction on Twitter.
In the video uploaded by Vinod on the micro-blogging site, we get a glimpse of the sterner stuff that the teenage Army aspirant is made of, as he requests the media to give him his space. He can be heard saying in Hindi, “I don’t want to be affected by the people who have been praising me on social media lest they raise me to lofty heights just because I’ve run a bit. Because then I won’t be able to focus on my goals.”
Pardeep continued, “Which is why I don’t want to give interviews. I just want to tell everyone that my hard work should be secluded, and any praise should be left for my successes. I want to work hard quietly, without any fuss.”

It’s impressive to hear a young kid talk wisely beyond his years. Perhaps, it is time for the media to give Pardeep Mehra his space and let him go about his goals without any disturbances.
