It was with Suresh Triveni’s Tumhari Sulu back in 2017 that Vidya Balan got her groove back after delivering 7 back to back flops.

She reunites with the filmmaker for Jalsa and the result is another intriguing film that gives Vidya an opportunity to display a slightly darker side.
The film is about a celebrated journalist Maya Menon (Vidya Balan) who accidentally runs over a teenage girl in the middle of the night. Instead of helping the gravely injured girl to the hospital, she decides to run away. In a twist of turns, the girl who met with an accident is the daughter of Maya’s cook Rukshana (Shefali Shah), who is like her family and takes good care of her son, who is a special child.
The film then delves deep into human conflicts and will force you to question what is right and what is wrong.

Suresh Triveni is an interesting filmmaker who proves with Jalsa that he can handle diverse genres with ease. While Tumhari Sulu was light-hearted, Jalsa is a complex tale of human conflicts that unfold in a slow-burning manner letting the audience feel the heat its characters are going through.

I liked how he used background scores in certain scenes muting the dialogues leaving it to the audience’s imagination. That way, the scenes left an even bigger impact.
The screenplay of the film is character-driven rather than being story-driven and that isn't something that caters to everyone.
The cinematography sets the mood of the film quite well. The VFX towards the end is questionable and almost ruins a highly important and dark sequence.
The editing could’ve been better as even at just 2-hours and 6-minutes, the film feels around 20 minutes too long.
    © Amazon Prime Video
Vidya Balan plays a grey character and nails it. Watch out for the scene when, after the accident, she gets out of the car in her apartment’s parking lot. Simply brilliant.

Similarly, Shefali Shah too plays a character unlike she has portrayed in the past. The character is vulnerable yet strong and the actress displays with understated ease. The sequence towards the end will stay with you.
All the other actors in the film in supporting roles have been perfectly cast with special mention to Srikant Yadav who plays Constable More and Surya Kasibhatla who plays Maya’s son.

Overall, Jalsa makes for an intriguing watch if you are looking for complex characters delivering solid performances and don’t mind slow-burners.

Back in the 1980s, some of the most legendary India-Pakistan cricketing clashes proved that no matter how fierce the games were on the field, the players' off-field friendship was very different and one of the biggest signs of camaraderie between the two sides were seen during the 1987 Holi celebrations.
In 1986-87, Pakistan were touring India for five Tests and six ODIs, and after the first four Tests ended in a draw the players from both teams got together ahead of the final match in Bangalore and "painted the hotel red."
    View this post on Instagram
However, the Pakistani captain at the time, Imran Khan was nowhere to be found but no player from either side seemed to be bothered by the absence of the legendary cricketer.
In 2021, the former wicket-keeper for the Men in Blue and ex-chairman of the Indian team selection committee, Kiren More opened up during an interaction on The Greatest Rivalry Podcast.
    View this post on Instagram
According to More, it happened at the red-painted Westin hotel in Bangalore. The hotel's swimming pool, all of the rooms, and every nook and cranny were all painted crimson. Imran Khan was being enticed out of his room by both Indian and Pakistani players. He was the captain, and he was a reserved individual. The cricketers were attempting to enter his room from both sides in order to put colour on him.
Javed Miandad kept the show going well after the Holi festivities were over, according to More. Players from both teams had a ball the day before the last Test, but they couldn't get a shy Imran out of his hotel room despite numerous attempts.

The two sides were playing bhangra music, and a couple of the players' friends attended the celebration, and everyone had a great time. The Indian and Pakistani cricketers went back on the field the next day for the next Test match.
More went on to say that he was amazed at how, on the field, both teams wanted to win, and sledging was rampant at the time from both sides, but that off the field, they had a terrific time and that the memories of that specific Holi celebration will live on in his mind forever.

In less than two weeks from now, we all will be glued to our television screens as the world’s biggest T20 spectacle takes centre-stage. The Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) is known for delivering quality cricket year after year and the upcoming season isn’t going to be any different.

This excitement is not only around some of the biggest names of world cricket but also the promising youngsters who take the tournament by storm through their fearless performances every season.

Like every year, the 15th edition of the tournament will also see talented teenagers from across the globe sharing the dressing room with the well-established legends of the game and looking to make a mark for themselves.

For these teenagers it would be the biggest opportunity of their professional careers and they wouldn’t want to let it slip away.

Here we look at five talented teenagers who could take the IPL 2022 by storm:
Yash Dhull (Age: 19) View this post on Instagram
Yash Dhull, who guided India to 2022 U-19 World Cup, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Bought Rs 50 lakh. The right-handed batter was in terrific form in the first phase of Ranji Trophy. He scored a twin century on his first-class debut and then followed it up with a double hundred in his third match. Given his piping hot form, he is definitely one to look out for.
Dewald Brevis (Age: 18) View this post on Instagram
The South African teenager is the youngest but the most expensive player on this list. Also known as ‘Baby AB’ due to his striking similarity with the RCB great AB de Villiers, Brevis was picked by Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians for Rs 3 crore. He came to the limelight through his heroics at the 2022 U19 World Cup which earned him the Player of the Tournament award. Despite his young age, he is expected to feature in Mumbai’s playing XI from the opening match itself. Do watch out for him.
Raj Angad Bawa (Age: 19) View this post on Instagram
The fast-bowling all-rounders in India are a rare commodity and that’s why Punjab Kings had to part with a whopping Rs 2 crore to acquire Raj Bawa. He impressed with both bat and ball in the U-19 World Cup final and took home the player of the match trophy. He might have to wait a little longer for his turn but if given a chance he would look to make an impact.
Rajvardhan Hangargekar (Age: 19) View this post on Instagram
The hard-hitting seam-bowling all-rounder has already begun his training under the watchful eyes of former India skipper MS Dhoni. With senior fast bowler Deepak Chahar expected to miss at least the first half of the season, the CSK management might be tempted to include Hangargekar in the playing XI. Apart from bowling inside the Powerplay, he can also use the long handle, if need be, which makes him a like-for-like replacement..
Vicky Ostwal (Age: 19) View this post on Instagram
The left-arm bowling all-rounder was picked by Delhi Capitals for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. He was the leading wicket-taker for India at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup. He might not be a guaranteed starter for the Rishabh Pant-led side but he could come in handy in the second half once the pitches start to dry up.

MS Dhoni is one of the 14 batters who have scaled the 10,000-run mountain in One-Day International cricket.

The fact that he played the majority of his cricket at number five and six and still managed to score so many speaks volumes of his ability with the bat. Not just in ODIs, even in the shortest format of the game, Dhoni left his mark as one of the greatest of all times.
During his international career, Dhoni managed to win every ICC trophy on offer as India captain. While his leadership skills are second to none, his ability to finish off games time and again is what made him a legend of the game.
Here’s a look at some of the major knocks that made Dhoni a modern-day legend:
    1. 45 Not Out vs Sri Lanka, Tri-Series Final 2013 Dhoni's Special

OnThisDay in 2013, India reqd 15 runs to win off final over (1 wicket in hand) against Sri Lanka to win the Tri Series Final.

However, MS Dhoni had other plans, In the final over India still needed 15 runs for the win with just one wicket in hand.
Dhoni failed to make a connection on the first ball but deposited the next over the bowler's head for a maximum. The third ball went for a through the point region and the wicket-keeper batter smashed the next delivery over extra cover to pull off a heist and help India to clinch the tri-series title.
    2. 44 Not Out vs Australia in Adelaide 2012
India failed to win the tri-series in Australia in 2012 involving Sri Lanka. However, in one of the matches, MS Dhoni once again took the onus on himself to finish the game and he did it in style.
The visitors had lost their sixth wicket with just eight balls left in the match and they were still 13 runs behind the target. Dhoni got the strike in the final over when India needed 12 off four deliveries and he smashed Clint Mckay straight down the ground for a huge six to put the pressure back on the hosts.
Dhoni was caught at square leg off the next delivery but it was a no-ball and he came charging back for a second run to retain the strike. The India captain pulled the next ball behind square and picked up three runs to seal the win for India.

Holi, the festival of colours, has been depicted in films ever since one remembers.
Bollywood has featured a number of popular and iconic Holi songs that have become a part of our celebrations be it Amitabh Bachchan’s Rang Barse, Rajesh Khanna’s Aaj Na Chodenge, Dharmendra’s Holi Ke Din and Ranbir Kapoor’s Balam Pichkari etc.
However, there have been times when a Holi sequence has been weaved into a film’s plot in such a way that it not only becomes an important plot point but also helps in moving further.
Here are 7 such Holi sequences in some of the most popular films:
    1. Sholay (1975)  © Sippy Films
Often touted as the greatest film ever made, Sholay is an all-time classic and features some of the most memorable songs, performances and sequences. And how can anyone forget the iconic dialogue, “Holi Kab Hai?”

Well, the film features two such sequences. The first one marks the first-ever interaction of dreaded dacoit Gabbar Singh with Veeru & Jai that leads to a thrilling fight sequence and a massive revelation about Thakur.
Of course, it starts with an equally iconic song Holi Ke Din.
The second sequence is from a flashback scene where we see Radha’s life before she got married.
    2. Silsila (1981)  © yash Raj Films
Perhaps the most iconic Holi song ever, Rang Barse features Amitabh and Rekha’s sizzling chemistry and eventually, leads to major problems in their respective married lives and confrontations with their better halves.

What follows next is a thrilling chase sequence that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
    5. Mohabbatein (2000)  © yash Raj Films
In the film, Amitabh Bachchan’s Narayan Shankar, who is a strict principal of Gurukul and follows his principles religiously, lets go of his two rules for Shah Rukh Khan’s charming Raj Aryan as the two forget their differences for a while.

As Raj puts a teeka on Narayan Shankar’s forehead, he gives permission for the boys to play Holi outside the school premise.
    6. Ram Leela (2013)  © Bhansali Productions
Holi sequence in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela becomes the first time that the lead pair meet each other and sparks fly.

We then witness a sensuous Holi song in Lahu Muh Lag Gaya.

However, while we are all a combination of such traits, there is one personality type that dominates us over the others.

However, another thing that he is really crazy about is football!
Yes, he loves watching and supporting his favourite football team, which is the English Premier League team Arsenal.

Often, the actor can be seen sharing his love for the football club and also his takes on the players. Now, if you've been following Ranveer or just the sport in general as a big football fan in India, you'd know that the Padmaavat actor is actually in the United Kingdom attending a hell of a lot of football matches.

And boy, has he been relishing a lot of tasty football matches across the Premier League. Ranveer was seen mingling with the likes of Bella Hadid during his tour and recently, went on to reveal his dream moment of meeting his favourite footballer, Thierry Henry.

Henry, who is regarded as one of the legendary players of the game, has played for clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona, while also representing the France national team.

Speaking about how it felt to meet his childhood hero in Mumbai a couple of years back, Ranveer said, "He was in Mumbai for a brand that is a competitor to a brand I am attached to. There was a big question mark as to whether I'd be able to meet him. I spoke to everyone I had to and said, 'Guys everything aside, this guy is my childhood hero. You've got to let me meet him'. And they were ever so gracious.
"On the way to meet him, I was very excited. But the minute he came in front of me, I broke out in tears. I couldn't control my emotions as I saw him in the flesh. Tears were coming down. I just started crying. I have sat in front of the TV watching Thierry Henry. I have cheered him with my core and screaming when he scored. In that moment, all of that came back. All those years of admiration!"

    — Ranveer Singh Talks (@RanveerTalks) October 27, 2016
The Bollywood star also revealed how Thierry's response also changed the way he interacts with his fans now.

"He was so patient, kind, and warm with me and with all my friends that I had taken along with me to meet him. That just changed me forever. Prior to that, whenever I saw people moving to tears on meeting me, or when someone tattooed your face or name on their body, I used to find it overwhelming. I was curious that isn't all this a bit much. But when that happened to me, I understood that.
"I had a new-found way of looking at it. It was a new respect that I found for that dynamic. In that moment, I learnt a lesson for life. I engage those fans very differently now. I am so much more respectful and sensitive to what they're feeling in that moment because it happened to me. Because how kind and warm he was to me, it meant the world to me. He made me feel so special that I want to pay that kindness and goodness forward." he said.
On the work front, Ranveer will be seen in his upcoming film Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Rohit Shetty's Cirkus, and Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

The thing about cinema is that it’s a medium which can be used for a lot of things. It could be entertainment, it could be spreading information, and you can use it to cater to more than just showing people singing around trees. Some movies not only entertain, they even enlighten. Here are 6 hard hitting films which left an impact:

    1. Pink - This courtroom drama starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Angad Bedi, Piyush Mishra revolves around the pertinent and sadly ignored issue of women safety in our country.

    2. Matrubhoomi - A Nation Without Women- The movie highlights the issue of female foeticide and the problem of gender imbalance in the country. The movie revolves around a woman who is married to five brothers and is subjected to physical torture.

    3. Chak de! India - Till date, not a single match can end without the title track playing in the background. This movie is still relevant and continues to stir patriotism in our hearts.

    4. Aarakshan - One of the most poignant movies starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee and Prateik Babbar, Aarakshan is a youth based film that throws light on the reservation system in the country the controversial caste based reservations in Indian government jobs and educational institutions.

    5. Aligarh - Based on a true incident, this Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao starrer revolves around the life of a professor whose life is disrupted after a local news channel barges into his privacy, films his intimate moments with another man and that later leads to his suspension. The movie then chronicles his fight to get justice for himself.

    6. Hindi Medium - Though it’s called an entertainer, this movie brilliantly shows the reality of the education system in the country and the hypocrisy of schools in the name of granting admission to students, which leads to a lot of exploitation for the parents.

If there’s one annoying thing about Holi, it’s that the colours don’t come off easily.
It takes multiple showers and vigorous scrubbing to get these stubborn Holi colours off and still we are left with either a tint all over our face or find a hidden spot we missed out on a couple of days later.
    © iStock
Regardless of how much you prep and lather your skin with moisturiser, you could still need some extra tips and tricks up your sleeve after you are done playing Holi, to easily get the colours off. And, here are some that might just help you out.

    © iStock
Take a look at some of the sneakiest and pro hacks and tips that can help remove the Holi colours in just one shower:

    1. Dust Off The Colour First  © iStock
Taking a shower directly can make it harder for you to wash the colours off your skin or hair since it settles deeper with water.

Wipe your face with a dry towel to get the colour off as much as you can before washing.
Similarly, before using water in your hair, dust off the excess colour with your hands from your beard and hair and then shampoo it.
    2. Use Coconut Oil Before & After © iStock
We hope you are moisturising your skin and hair before you play Holi. It makes the colour come right off and protects your skin and hair from drying and the effects of harmful chemicals too.

However, you can use the moisturiser to easily get rid of the colour too. Use coconut oil to break down the stubborn colour and bathe like usual.
    3. Use Q-Tip © iStock
Often, there are certain places where you miss out on removing the colours because either they are hard to reach or difficult to wash the colours off.

Inside and behind the ear, nail beds and between toes are some of the difficult places to clean. However, you can use a cotton swab to properly clean these areas.
Dip the cotton swab in coconut oil or any moisturise and clean the skin.

The greatest time for producers to release their films is during festivals and long weekends, as it gives them an opportunity to make a lot of money at the box office. Holi, the festival of colours, is one such occasion.
Every year, several filmmakers try to book the Holi weekend in advance to release their films. However, not every movie released on Holi turns out to be a money-spinner at the box office.
As the whole nation is celebrating the festival of colours today, let's take a look at the list of Bollywood films that were released during Holi week but failed to make a mark at the box office.
Rocky Handsome (2016) View this post on Instagram
Rocky Handsome, starring John Abraham and Shruti Haasan, was the remake of the Korean film The Man From Nowhere. While the film received appreciation for its action scenes, it failed to click at the ticket window. Directed by the late filmmaker Nishikant Kamat, the film turned out to be a box office failure, grossing only Rs 22 crore.
Bewakoofiyaan (2014) View this post on Instagram
Directed by Nupur Asthana, written by Habib Faisal, and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Bewakoofiyaan marked the union of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sonam Kapoor for the first time onscreen. While the songs got a good response, the film failed horribly at the box office despite releasing on the occasion of Holi.
Himmatwala (2013) View this post on Instagram
Featuring Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles, Sajid Khan's downfall as a director started with Himmatwala, the official remake of the 1983 film of the same name. The film's trailer as well as songs created a huge buzz before its release, however, it turned out to be a huge disappointment for fans. For the remake, Ajay and Tamannaah took on the roles of Jeetendra and Sridevi respectively. But, the old wine in a new bottle failed to make a mark and was a massive flop at the ticket window.
Karthik Calling Karthik (2010) View this post on Instagram
Directed by Vijay Lalvani, Karthik Calling Karthik starred Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The advantage of hit music and Holi release too couldn't help the film as it turned out to be a box office disappointment. However, the film later got a good response on OTT and TV.
Teen Patti (2010) View this post on Instagram
Amitabh Bachchan, R. Madhavan, Raima Sen, Shraddha Kapoor, and Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley starred in the film Teen Patti. However, the film's subject and the plot did not resonate with the audience, and as a result, it was largely ignored by moviegoers.
While the above-mentioned films flopped at the box office, several other Holi releases including Akshay Kumar's Kesari, Saif Ali Khan-starrer Race, and Varun-Alia’s Badrinath Ki Dulhania turned out to be big hits.
