1. Pink - This courtroom drama starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Angad Bedi, Piyush Mishra revolves around the pertinent and sadly ignored issue of women safety in our country.

2. Matrubhoomi - A Nation Without Women- The movie highlights the issue of female foeticide and the problem of gender imbalance in the country. The movie revolves around a woman who is married to five brothers and is subjected to physical torture.


3. Chak de! India - Till date, not a single match can end without the title track playing in the background. This movie is still relevant and continues to stir patriotism in our hearts.

4. Aarakshan - One of the most poignant movies starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee and Prateik Babbar, Aarakshan is a youth based film that throws light on the reservation system in the country the controversial caste based reservations in Indian government jobs and educational institutions.

5. Aligarh - Based on a true incident, this Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao starrer revolves around the life of a professor whose life is disrupted after a local news channel barges into his privacy, films his intimate moments with another man and that later leads to his suspension. The movie then chronicles his fight to get justice for himself.

6. Hindi Medium - Though it’s called an entertainer, this movie brilliantly shows the reality of the education system in the country and the hypocrisy of schools in the name of granting admission to students, which leads to a lot of exploitation for the parents.
