Back when we used to be in school, the only thing our question papers would inspire were either anxiety, vicious daydreaming or straight up sleep. However, it seems as if the times have been changing, and now there’s a question paper from a CBSE class 12 exam that’s going viral for all the fun reasons.

Imagine if back when we were growing up, questions from Naruto, Inu Yasha, Beyblade, Pokemon and whatnot, were incorporated into our examinations?
That would have definitely helped me engage with the testing material a lot better, perhaps I may even have scored higher than I did, considering most of my time was anyway being spent consuming the ‘source material’ (*cough*television time*cough*)

Well, something similar recently happened to students from Class 12th in a CBSE school where a question featured a solid reference to one of the most popular anime shows in recent years, Attack On Titan, which is based on the manga written by Hajime Isayama. And naturally, social media users haven’t been able to contain their amazement and excitement.

It seems to be adding to the growing trend of pop-culture being accepted and integrated within the school curriculum, as recently, BTS, a popular K-POP act was also mentioned in a CBSE class 9 exam.
Fans of Attack On Titan have been buzzing following the internet discovery that a section of the question paper contained bits from Attack On Titan and their lead characters Eren Jaeger and Mikasa.
    © Adult Swim
The globally loved franchise tells the tale of a post-apocalyptic world where human beings have walled themselves in from an invasive species, namely the Titans who are giant humanoid creatures with a penchant for the flesh of the human variety.

Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert are a trio of friends who drive this story of survival forward.

People on Twitter have obviously been having a field day with this development, with a user noting, “Excerpts from Attack on Titan appearing in an Indian exam paper. Imagine getting spoilers from an exam question paper. And that " Sasageyo" annotation from the examinee.”
I just learned Attack On Titan was the subject matter for a Marxist political media analysis in the board exams in India HAHAHAHAHA pic.twitter.com/PuymN3GQeh

Another mused, “I just learned Attack On Titan was the subject matter for a Marxist political media analysis in the board exams in India HAHAHAHAHA.”
While this one declared, “An Unseen Passage About Attack on Titan came in an English exam, Well y'all already know i would've gotten full marks on that test.”

Vivek Agnihotri’s latest directorial The Kashmir Files starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi has turned out to be a massive hit at the box office.
The film exceeded expectations and early trends suggest that its day four will be even bigger than day three, which was a Sunday.
All the pre-release predictions that were made for The Kashmir Files have now gone for a toss and the film is on course to be a gigantic hit.
Based on the exodus of Kashmiri pandits in the year 1990, The Kashmir Files is not the first film to showcase the genocide and ethnic cleansing, as there have been three films in the past that were released.
However, none could grab the eyeballs and attention as much as the Mithun Chakraborty starrer.
Besides the Kashmiri pandits genocide, there have also been films made on the 1984 Sikhs genocide that are as stomach-churning and disturbing to watch as The Kashmir Files.
If you have watched The Kashmir Files, here are 6 other similar Hindi films that depicted genocide:
    1. Shikara (2020)   © Vinod Chopra Films
Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Shikara was a love story of a Kashmiri pandit couple during the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. The film starred Aadil Khan and Sadia Khateeb.

It received poor reviews upon its release and was a box office dud.
    2. Sheen (2004)  © Ashoke Pandit
Starring Raj Babbar, Tarun Arora and Samreen Zaidi, Sheen was directed by Ashoke Pandit. The film was based on the Kashmiri pandits genocide in January 1990.

    3. 19th January (2014)   © Blueberry Entertainment
Directed by Sanjay Amar, 19th January starred Deepti Naval, Bidita Bag and KK Raina. The film was based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits and the title denotes the date January 19, 1990, when the genocide took place.

    4. Maachis (1996)  Based on the 1984 Sikhs genocide, Maachis was directed by Gulzaar and marked the debut of Chandrachur Singh and Jimmy Sheirgill. The film also featured Tabu and Om Puri in pivotal roles.
Maachis went on to win two National Film Awards for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Actress for Tabu.
    5. Hawayein (2003)  © Mannerism Productions
Directed by Ammtoje Mann, who also starred in the lead role, Hawayein was based on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and also featured Babbu Mann, Mukul Dev & Mahie Gill.

Based on the 1984 Sikhs genocide, 31st October is directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil and starred Vir Das, Soha Ali Khan and Deepraj Rana.

The only movie that is being discussed right now throughout the length and breadth of the country, is The Kashmir Files. Perhaps in the history of Indian cinema, it has happened for the first time that a movie has garnered so much attention from the common man, despite having no big names or groundbreaking promotions under its belt. Also, it is interesting to note that most of 'mainstream Bollywood' has maintained an awkward silence when it comes to the unexpected success of the film that's still snowballing and has just started to gather momentum in the public domain.

While the film industry's silence has been palpable, here are 7 Bollywood celebs who have come forward and congratulated director Vivek Agnihotri, Anupam Kher, and the entire team of The Kashmir Files for its runaway success in the box office as well as the public's psyche.

Indian Political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla has made a crazy revelation while participating in Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's new reality TV show Lock Upp.
For all who don't know, Tehseen is a successful entrepreneur and social activist. Political commentator, and the co-anchor of 'Bhai versus Bhai,' a political debate portal that he hosts with his brother Shehzad Poonawalla.

Tehseen has been one of the many contestants on Kangana's new show which also includes people like Poonam Pandey, Shivam Sharma, Payal Rohatgi, and Saisha Shinde.

Unfortunately for Tehseen, the public figure was recently evicted from the show, but not before revealing a very interesting detail.

Now, while Tehseen was ousted from the show owing to low votes, he was still given a chance to save one of the contestants by revealing one of his life secrets. And well, Tehseen wanted to save his friend Saisha and chose to do what was needed.

Speaking about his secret, Tehseen revealed how he was once asked by India's topmost industrialist to sleep with his wife.
"Bharat ke ek top industrialist ne mujhe ek offer di thi ki mein unki patni ke saath soun. Aur uske liye unhone mera pura nightclub weekend ke liye book kiya tha..Saturday and Sunday night ke liye. Aur unki shart yeh thi ki jab mein unke patni ke saath sounga woh usse dekhna chahte hain. (India's topmost industrialist offered me to sleep with his wife. For that, he booked my entire nightclub for Saturday and Sunday. His condition was that he wanted to see me sleeping with his wife)." said Tehseen, while speaking to Kangana.
When he was asked by Kangana whether he enjoyed it, Tehseen had an honest answer.
"I did it. I absolutely enjoyed it. He was at a distance. He was only watching. My only condition was he will not touch or intervene. It wasn't a threesome. He'd only watch at a distance. He had certain fantasies which his wife and I played out for him. I don't mind even sharing that because there's nothing wrong. He wanted me to treat his wife like my property and he wanted to watch and enjoy the experience. I didn't care about it." he said.

Uri: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar, after watching The Kashmir Files, too has appreciated the film and posted an emotional message on Twitter. He shared his own experience and wrote that the film's emotion is genuine. He tweeted, "You might have seen numerous videos of Kashmiri Pandits breaking down in the theatres after watching #TheKashmirFiles. The emotion is real. It shows how long we kept our pain and tragedy repressed as a community. We didn’t have any shoulder to cry on and no ear to hear our pleas".

Ukraine’s call for help has been answered by the world’s deadliest sniper who has reportedly joined the Ukrainian army to fend off the Russian invaders.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has become a matter of global concern, with the citizens of Kyiv putting up a resistance against the invading forces to the best of their capabilities. These civilian fighters are bracing for an impending attack from the Russian troops and artillery camped just kilometres away.
According to Al Jazeera, officials in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol have claimed 1582 civilian deaths in the city at the hands of the Russian invasion.
    © Reuters
The United Nation’s human rights office has stated 564 Ukrainian civilians including 41 children have lost their lives since Russia began their attacks.

Furthermore, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared that their military forces have lost close to 1300 soldiers in combat.
The United States estimates Russian casualties to be around the 2,000 to 4,000 mark, but official Russian figures claim that 498 Russian soldiers have been killed.
Here are 10 things to know about the super sniper who is currently helping Ukraine combat the Russian invasion:
    © CBC
    1. With Russia continuing to overwhelm the Ukrainians despite the latter’s brave front, the world’s deadliest marksman, 'Wali' arrived in Ukraine on 4 March. He was joined by three other ex-Canadian soldiers.

Speaking to CBC, Wali exclaimed, “They were so happy to have us. It's like we were friends right away.”
    © CBC
    2. Wali has previously served in Iraq and Afghanistan (in Kandahar).

    © CBC
    3. ‘Wali’ is his nom de guerre. His official name is not known. Much like many soldiers, this moniker was given to him by the Afghans during his tour there.

    © CBC
    4. We know that Wali is a 40-year-old Canadian soldier, married, with a one-year-old child.

    © CBC
    5. An able computer scientist, Wali told the CBC, "A week ago I was still programming stuff. Now I'm grabbing anti-tank missiles in a warehouse to kill real people… That's my reality right now.”

    © CBC
    6. Having joined the Ukrainian army just a few days, Wali has already gone ahead and recorded six kills. He said, "I don't think the Ukrainians deserve what's going on."

    © CBC
    7. His status as the world’s deadliest sniper was earned after he shot down an ISIS rebel in Mosul, Iraq, getting the longest confirmed kill of 3.5 kilometres.

    8. A decent sniper is believed to be capable of getting five to six kills in a day, whereas a good marksman would be able to get seven to ten kills in the same span. According to reports, Wali is more than capable of delivering 40 kills on a productive day.

Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut recently appreciated the film on social media and even slammed Bollywood's 'pin drop silence' on The Kashmir Files. Amidst the rave reviews, a video is currently doing the rounds on social media in which Lal Krishna Advani, a senior BJP politician, can be seen weeping at a movie theatre. According to the caption he got emotional after watching Vivek Agnihotri's latest release.
    Watch the video here:

    — Rohit Rathi (@RohitRa88491776) March 14, 2022
However, it turns out that the claims are false. While Advani did attend a screening of The Kashmir Files, the video that is currently doing the rounds on the internet is from the screening of Shikara.
Interestingly, Shikara, produced and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is based on the love story of a Kashmiri Pandit couple at the peak of insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir. It was released in 2020.
Back then, the now-viral video was posted on the official social media accounts of Vidhu Vinod Chopra films, describing how the senior leader was in tears after watching it. Watch the original video below:

Coming back to The Kashmir Files, it revolves around the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 in Jammu & Kashmir when the community was granted a choice - to convert, flee, or die. The film was released on February 11 and is performing much better than the Hindi version of Prabhas' Radhe Shyam.

Umpiring in cricket is a tough job, especially, when you are asked to predict the trajectory of the ball whenever there's an appeal for LBW. There are so many innovations that have been introduced in modern-day cricket to make life easier for umpires and eliminate howlers from the game.

One such innovation was the Decision Review System (DRS) which was brought into the game to get rid of on-field umpire's mistakes. With DRS, players are now allowed to challenge an on-field call.
If not for the DRS, Pakistan would have been robbed of a wicket in the ongoing second Test match against Australia at the National Stadium in Karachi.

    — Nic Savage (@nic_savage1) March 14, 2022 After being on the field for almost 190 overs, Pakistan finally got a chance to bat after Australia declared their first innings at 556 for nine. In reply to the visitor's mammoth total, Pakistan's top order crumbled and they were reeling at 60 for four.
Pat Cummins, bowling the 30th over, bowled a short of a length ball that came back in a bit and struck Mohammad Rizwan on the pads, who did not offer a shot.
Australian players appealed and umpire Ahsan Raza gave the decision in favour of the bowling team.

    — ICC (@ICC) March 14, 2022 Rizwan challenged the decision and the replays confirmed that the ball was not coming back enough to hit the stumps and he survived a scare but only to be dismissed by the same bowler a couple of overs later.
The blunder made by umpire Ahsan Raza on the field led to a flurry of reactions on social media, dominated by Indian cricket fans who mercilessly trolled the Pakistani official.

It is a historic series for Pakistan as Australia are touring them after a gap of 24 years and the kind of pitches and umpiring standards have certainly let them down.

It isn’t easy to make it in Bollywood and there’s no rulebook to tell you what would and would not work for you. Sometimes, it’s the most random thing that actors have confessed to being rejected for.
Actor-turned-model Dino Morea who has been in the industry for over two decades can vouch for it because according to him, it was his ‘good looks’ that worked against him.
    © Instagram/Dino Morea
He said that the casting people used his ‘looks’ as an excuse for not casting him in a film.

“It takes guts to see me differently. Some casting directors come up with the excuse and they don’t see me differently. I just get the feedback from some that you are good looking,” he said in a recent interview with Hindustan Times.
    © Instagram/Dino Morea
He thinks he has been underutilised as an actor because people couldn’t see beyond his looks.

“I find it very bizarre, what’s my look got to do with casting me in a certain character. Just cast me. I can change my look. People just never saw me beyond my looks. Being good looking sometimes works against you in Bollywood,” he added.
    © Instagram/Dino Morea
He started his career as a model and TV actor before getting a break in 1999. After working in films for over 10 years and realising his career was going downhill, he took a sabbatical only to return as a web series actor in 2020. His latest one The Empire shows him as an antagonist and his work is being lauded by fans and critics alike.

    © Instagram/Dino Morea
“With this show, I proved that I can do stuff, so watch me. Now people are taking note and thanks to the people who are taking risks with casting. At this point, I don’t think I need to prove to anyone that I can act. There are many people who have called from the fraternity and said how good I was. I got good feedback. The directors are seeing me in a different light, not just the good looking, guy next door, who can only pull off certain kinds of roles,” said Morea.

    © Instagram/Dino Morea
It’s strange that the industry, where the basic requirement is glamour and good looks, rejects actors on the basis of the same thing.
