The craze of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has crossed borders and the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman wants to take inspiration from the IPL to make radical changes in their own T20 league.
Ramiz Raja had suggested that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is looking to move from the draft system to the auction system to become financially independent.
IPL is arguably one of the biggest T20 leagues in world cricket and there is nothing wrong to be inspired by the best in the business, but the PCB chief challenged the IPL and that did not go well with fans.
"If we take the PSL to auction model, increase the purse, then I'll put it in the IPL bracket. And then we'll see who goes to play the IPL over the PSL."

Bold words from Ramiz Raja.#Cricket pic.twitter.com/PJPzHFT0f3
    — Grassroots Cricket (@grassrootscric) March 14, 2022
"We need to create new properties to be financially independent. We have nothing for now but the PSL and ICC funds. There's an argument over the model from next year; I want to switch it to an auction model from next year. The market forces are conducive, but we'll sit down with the franchise owners to discuss it," Ramiz Raja was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo
"This is a game of money. When the cricket economy grows in Pakistan, our respect will rise. The main driver of that financial economy is the PSL. If we take the PSL to auction model, increase the purse, then I'll put it in the IPL bracket. And then we'll see who goes to play the IPL over the PSL," he said.
Indians fans took to Twitter to react to these comments by the PCB chief and roasted him for trying to compare PSL with IPL.
    Lmao..
Thoda toh sharam kar leta before even saying this https://t.co/S7SqYlg7HA
    — Pratik Poojary (@PratikPoojary18) March 14, 2022Sorry to say but this is overconfidence. Consider the pool of domestic players available, the economy etc etc...... think before just bluntly speaking not-so true facts Mr. Ramiz https://t.co/a9eTPbfOX5
    — թɾíվαα (@koffeeinsane) March 14, 2022To fir abhi tak kiya kyu nahi paise hai nahi chale hain ipl ko takkar dene #IPL2022 https://t.co/lYGJXRxeuy
    — Ayush singh Bhadoria (@AyushBhadoria1) March 15, 2022Ramiz bhai, ek toh Faulkner paisa mangta hai usko dete ho nahi.. auction mein players loge unko Dene ko Hai paisa.... https://t.co/CewZcIZbdR pic.twitter.com/2W1Hk6gxJS
    — Rutwik ' BABA ' N (@Rutwik2304) March 14, 2022This statement should declared as joke of the decade..
    — Shivam (@shiv_0769) March 14, 2022Ramiz added that shifting from the draft system to auction will open their tournament to world talent and players would want to play in the PSL over IPL.
"Every side's purse will increase, and if they want to improve they'll have to spend money. When you go from a draft system to this, the world's talent suddenly becomes available to you. I've spoken to a couple of the franchise owners; they're quite happy to experiment with this. I'll talk to the others, too. It's in the embryonic stages, but it's top of my wish list," he added.
It’s a pic that I liked and thought of sharing with you , reason being the mellow light and National Satdium Karachi merging well with our dress code of the day! pic.twitter.com/HFTqxyJL0a
    — Ramiz Raja (@iramizraja) February 22, 2021
While it is nice for a cricket board chairman to try and take his country's cricket to the next level, taking a dig at an established brand such as the IPL was a bad idea and it was bound to lead to trolls.

Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya, after attending the jersey launch event of the franchise, has finally reached the National Cricket Academy. The all-rounder will undergo various fitness tests for the next couple of days.
Being a contrary-contracted player, the Baroda all-rounder will get clearance to participate in IPL 2022 only after clearing the fitness tests held under the supervision of the NCA medical staff.
    View this post on Instagram
Despite being one of the biggest losers in the BCCI’s latest central contract list, Hardik is still mandated to get a green signal from the NCA to take part in the mega event which begins on March 26.
The 28-year-old is not a part of the Test squad anymore and is not even a regular feature in India’s white-ball set-up, with his last international appearance coming during the T20 World Cup last year.
    View this post on Instagram
Given the uncertainty over his fitness, the fast-bowling all-rounder was dropped from Grade A to Grade C, which in monetary terms means a decline of Rs 4 crore.
According to a news agency PTI report, Hardik would need to pass the fitness test just like any other centrally contracted cricketer before he is allowed to go and lead Gujarat Titans.
    View this post on Instagram
The report further adds that batting and fielding might not be an issue for the all-rounder but the biggest concern continues to be his bowling.
“Hardik will be at the NCA for next two days and appear in the various fitness tests. He is a centrally contracted cricketer and has not played any cricket since T20 World Cup in UAE,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI.

“He would need to pass the fitness test as it has been mandatory for some time now. Last year, even Shreyas Iyer appeared for a fitness test post shoulder surgery before playing IPL,” he added.

Hardik has not spilled the beans on whether he would be bowling in the IPL or would be playing a specialist batter. Speaking at Gujarat Titans’ jersey launch event in Ahmedabad, he said that his bowling would be a “surprise” which pissed off many fans.
    © Reuters
Hardik was summoned by the NCA to attend the camp but he sought some time so that he could attend his franchise’s jersey unveiling event at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The fans of Indian cricket hailed the BCCI’s decision to not exempt Hardik from clearing the fitness tests and treating him just like any other player who is currently on way to full recovery.
    © Reuters
Some even opined that this protocol should have been followed last year as well and he should not have been allowed to play with injuries.

This should have been the case for the previous ipl as well, when he played with an injury,we all know what happened in T20 world bcz of that. He is a very important part of the white ball setup wether we like it or not as he is the only player who can bowl at 140 and bat at 6
    — RedDevil1819 (@Suhail18191) March 15, 2022So that was the big surprise hardik kept saying about
    — Sailesh (@RSailesh26) March 15, 2022If this is true then this is a very good decision… First national duty and then IPL duty… He should realize now that he is not a certain in Team India anymore…
    — Ishiraj (@Ishiraj1) March 15, 2022Music to the ears
    — S (@LezzGooVamos) March 15, 2022Well done BCCI
    — Chatra Ram Parmar (@ChatraParmar) March 15, 2022very good desition
    — pradeep sharma (@pradeep71014883) March 15, 2022Excellent work
    — Rishabh Trivedi (@Rishumahi07) March 15, 2022Given the embarrassment they faced after the T20 World Cup last year, the national selectors don’t want to take any chance with him.
Hardik is most likely to get a green signal to lead Gujarat Titans in the upcoming season but a pure batter. The decision whether to bowl or not is not in his hands anymore and would depend on the report of the NCA experts.

There are two kinds of people in life, one who make their reputation as they go and others whose reputation precedes them.

Coincidentally, both Elon Musk and Russian President Vladimir Putin fall into the latter category, where just saying their name out loud can be enough in gauging what they’re capable of.
    © Elon Musk
In fact, if I were to be honest, their face-off comes across as nothing less than that of Iron Man and Thanos in the hit film Avengers: The End Game, where one is a tech genius and the other, a power-hungry creature.

While we know how that duel between the two ended, we’re not sure of what would go down if Putin and Musk were put face to face.
Will the Tesla owner be a match to the raw and brazen Kremlin?
A thought that has been going on in the head of several users, who were taken aback when Elon Musk declared an open challenge to Vladimir Putin through a mere tweet.
    I hereby challenge
    Владимир Путин
    to single combat

    Stakes are Україна
    — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 14, 2022
Taking to the microblogging site, Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk wrote, “I hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to single combat." He then added, “Stakes are Ukraine." And boy, did Twitter go crazy.
    I am absolutely serious
    — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 14, 2022
While a few are wondering if Elon Musk thought it all the way through, considering Putin is ex-KGB, Elon Musk replied to a few comments admitting that he was ‘absolutely serious’ about his challenge.
    go to bed Elon
    — Alex Barredo (@somospostpc) March 14, 2022I will referee this.

    — Tesla + Bitcoin + Ethereum (@tsla2theluna) March 14, 2022From asking what he was high on, to suggesting him to go to bed, several people thought Elon made a wager that he couldn’t possibly win. At the same time, a few were interested in knowing if the match could be streamed on Netflix, because who wouldn’t want a piece of this.
The ongoing slaughter in Ukraine is a laughing matter for bored billionaire @ElonMusk. Unfortunately, there's no medicine for sociopathic narcissism.
    — Stratos Safioleas (@stratosathens) March 14, 2022Can we stream this fight on Netflix? Asking for a friend

    — Wacka-trading (@Wackawacka10) March 14, 2022However, there were a lot of tweets that supported Elon Musk and claimed that this could really be how he put an end to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In fact, one user even wrote, “Gambling odds show @elonmusk as heavily favored to win. I’m betting all in on Elon. Easiest money anyone will ever make.”

    — FinTechatoshi Ukraineamoto (@FinTechShark1) March 14, 2022As of yet, the Russian President has not responded to Elon Musk’s challenge.
The invasion into Ukraine is now in its third week with no sign of slowing down. Musk has been constantly showing his support to the people of Ukraine and even sent equipment to facilitate connectivity in areas hit by Russian military attacks.
